Lil' Wayne's Manager Says 'Everything Is Good' Over At Cash Money Records

Lil’ Wayne surprised us all yesterday (Dec. 4) when he took to his Twitter to blow off some steam about Carter V still sitting on the shelf.

TMZ caught up with Weezy’s manager Cortez Bryant in West Hollywood, CA last night (Dec.4) and he acted as if nothing happened.

“We good. I’m smiling. I wouldn’t be out at the club right now,” he told the pap. This may not be believable considering that Bryant also said Tyga, whose said he wants nothing to do with YMCMB, was “good too.”

Unarmed Black Man Killed In Phoenix By Police; Protests Ensue

After two grand juries decided not to indict officers in New York City and Ferguson, MO on criminal charges for the deaths of unarmed black men Eric Garner and Mike Brown, another unarmed black man has been killed by a police officer, Phoenix News reports.

On Dec. 3rd, police got a call about two men dealing drugs in a black Cadillac Escalade at a nearby 7-Eleven. When an officer, who has not been identified, noticed a vehicle fitting the description, he approached 34-year-old Rumain Brisbon, who was getting out of the SUV. When the officer ordered Brisbon to get on the ground, he reportedly became defensive and ignored the officer’s order. Brisbon then reportedly ran from the officer to his girlfriend’s house and when she opened the door the two men fell in and were tussling on the floor. After the officer lost his hold on Brisbon and thought he felt a gun in his pocket, he shot the father of four twice in the torso.

“During the struggle, Brisbon put his left hand in his pocket and the officer grabbed onto the suspect’s hand, while repeatedly telling the suspect to keep his hand in his pocket,” said Sgt. Trent Crump, a spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department. “The officer believed he felt the handle of a gun while holding the suspect’s hand in his pocket.”

What the officer thought was a gun was actually a bottle of oxycodone pills. There were no drugs found in Brisbon’s vehicle, only a legally registered firearm. Brandon Dickerson, who was in the SUV with Brisbon, said he was taking dinner to his four children and was not combative with the officer.

“Who’s gonna argue with police?” Dickerson said. “He had no death wish yesterday.”

The officer has only been identified as a 30-year-old who has been on the police force for seven years.

A protest ensued after 150 people gathered in downtown Phoenix to march to the police headquarters. The demonstration reportedly remained peaceful as the crowd shouted “Hands up, don’t shoot.”

U.S. Navy Revokes Bill Cosby's Honorary Title

As women continue to come forward with rape allegations against Bill Cosby, he continues to lose his accolades that he gained over the years.

The United States Navy is revoking his title as an honorary chief petty officer. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Master Chief Petty Officer Michael Stevens announced the news on Thursday (Dec. 4) that the recent sexual assault allegations conflict with the Navy’s core values.

Cosby enlisted into the Navy in 1956 and served as a hospital corpsman for four years before his honorable discharge in 1960 as a Third Class Petty Officer. The comedian was given the honorary title back in 2011.

This can be added to the long list of losses the 77-year-old has suffered since being accused of rape by almost a dozen women. So far, Cosby has lost NBC and Netflix deals, resigned from Temple University’s Board of Trustees and has been asked to step down from UMass-Amherst’s fundraising committee.  Almost a dozen women have come forward accusing Cosby of rape and sexual assault.

Questlove Challenges Artists To Start Creating Music With A Message

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop was once viewed as the voice of the urban oppressed, but much of the current state of the culture revolves around coveting wealth, material possessions, and sexual exploits. In a time when the entire nation is facing serious questions about police brutality and equal justice, some rap stars like Killer Mike, J. Cole, Q-Tip, NellyThe GameLauryn Hill, and others have demonstrated their concerns with the legal and social issues facing the country through songs, protests, or public speeches.

[ALSO READ: Lauryn Hill Lends Her Voice To Anti-Colonialism Documentary “Concerning Violence”]

But some people would like to see Hip Hop artists, and musical celebrities in general, take an even more active role in addressing societal concerns. Amir “Questlove” Thompson of the Roots is one of those individuals.

The drummer/producer wrote a message on his Instagram page asking all artists to use their music to express a message. Questlove referenced past musicians/social commentators Bob Dylan, Public Enemy, Nina Simone, and Zack de la Rocha as examples of the type of artists he would like to see rise in this generation. He also called on the media to provide more balanced content via their outlets.

Questlove posted the following picture to IG with the caption below.

I urge and challenge musicians and artists alike to push themselves to be a voice of the times that we live in. I know that many see what happened to Dixie Chicks' #NatalieMaines @mainesmusic (she bravely expressed her opinion/dismay on the Bush administration declaring war & was unjustly targeted….while in hindsight being CORRECT) suddenly there was an onslaught of radio silence from artists across the board (correction not everyone was silent, but the silence was deafening) although I'm kinda/sorta addressing the hip hop nation I really apply this challenge to ALL artists. We need new Dylans. New Public Enemys. New Simones. New De La Roachas. New ideas! But it just doesn't stop there!! We need outlets (hello #ClearChannel #RadioOne #Vh1) to balance the system. Yeah I'm just as guilty of feeling the high of all that I despise ("Devil's Pie" D'angelo) but the reason why this nation seems to be moving 3 steps ahead in some areas…..but then 7 steps backwards in every area is a lack of balance. I'm not saying every song gotta be "Fight The Power" but in times like these we need to be more community minded (taking a wild guess that "urban radio's" format didn't change much from the pre program stuff (using that word *politely*) we've been hearing for years. & when I say challenge I don't mean breathless race to the finish on who makes the more banging "F### Tha Police" sequel. I mean real stories. Real narratives. Songs with spirit in them. Songs with solutions. Songs with questions. Protest songs don't have to be boring or non danceable or ready made for the next Olympics. They just have to speak truth. I laugh & have fun w "B#### You Guessed It" like everyone else. But my soul is aching man. Seriously just ONE or Two songs that change the course. This is something I feel the need and urgency to put out there. #EricGarner #MikeBrown #JusticeForAll #FeedMySoul #HandsUpDontShoot #ICantBreathe

In the article, Young Thug talks about his life growing up as one of 11 siblings, his time in a juvenile-detention program (where he says all he did there was “gamble, smoke and f**k”), and his turn toward music.

“Anyone can rap if you’ve got brains,” said Thug. “So I just went with it.”

After dropping the Internet hits “Stoner” and “Danny Glover,” Thug connected with Cash Money Records CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams and fellow ATL native Rich Homie Quan to be part of the Rich Gang single “Lifestyle” and mixtape Tha Tour Part 1. Birdman offered high praise for Young Thug to RS.

“He looks to me like an animal locked in a cage, ready to eat the world up,” said Birdman about his latest protegé. “Without a doubt, he’s going to be a superstar. He’s special.”

Thug’s other big 2014 collaborator T.I. stood up for him as well. During a CRWN interview, Tip defended his Atlanta comrade against criticism about his signature delivery.

“Let me ask you – Did you understand everything ODB was saying?” asked Tip. “Did you understand everything Bone Thugs-N-Harmony was saying? Did your momma and daddy understand everything James Brown was saying? Your momma and daddy didn’t understand what James Brown was saying. They just liked it.”

Jimmy Henchman Talks Second Murder Trial & The Possibility 50 Cent May Testify

(AllHipHop News) This week James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond returned to court to be retried for the murder of Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher. The first Rosemond trial ended in a hung jury in March, and the government decided to take the case up again.

[ALSO READ: Jimmy Henchman Murder Trial Ends In Hung Jury]

Rosemond is accused of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot. According to the prosecution, Rosemond wanted Fletcher killed because of his association with 50 Cent’s G-Unit crew. G-Unit and the “Rosemond Organization” had been involved in an ongoing feud that allegedly included shoot outs, razor attacks, and Rosemond’s teenage son at the time being assaulted by the Unit’s Tony Yayo.

Rosemond maintains he is innocent of the charges, and at least one jury member in the first trial sided with him. That case ended in mistrial when a juror refused to deliberate, because he or she viewed all of the government’s witnesses as untrustworthy. The prosecution presented witnesses that had all cooperated with the government to testify against Rosemond.

According to Don Diva, the prosecution has again centered their case around those same witnesses. One being former Rosemond associate Khalil Abdullah. Abdullah testified that he was involved in numerous criminal acts against G-Unit on behalf of Rosemond.

Defense attorney Bruce Maffeo was able to get Abdullah to admit his cooperation with the prosecution helped reduce his own incarceration time. The mandatory life sentence Abdullah was facing for his own charges was reduced to 8 years for his testimony against Rosemond in two previous trials. For his cooperation in the new Rosemond murder case, Abdullah could be released from prison in the next few weeks.

Don Diva spoke with Rosemond after court testimony on Tuesday. The one time drug dealer addressed his chances of winning the current case.

“It will again come down to whether or not the jury believes the government’s witnesses,” said Rosemond.

The former manager of rap star/ex-G-unit member The Game was also asked if his longtime rival 50 Cent would be testifying at the trial. He replied, “I guess we will see.”

Previously, Rosemond stated that 50 was scheduled to testify at the first murder trial, but 50 apparently chose not to participate with the government’s case before taking the stand.

“One thing for sure is that Curtis [50 Cent] was scheduled to testify at my murder trial, but reneged on the prosecutors at the last minute,” said Rosemond earlier this month.

Rosemond is still serving a life sentence for unrelated drug trafficking and weapons possession convictions from 2013.

With production coming from a veritable two-headed monster of Atlanta producers, Cassius Jay and Zaytoven, the pair of rappers are left to rattle off punch-drunk bars accentuated by auto-tune. Young Khalifa relies on triplets to give his verse a nice, choppy flow, and both him and Rizzy end up sounding great.

Tyga has been venting his issues with YMCMB for months. The “Make It Work” rapper revealed he was not on good terms with Young Money member Drake. The internal beef led to Cash Money head Bryan “Birdman” Williams to take sides with Drizzy.

“Tyga knows where he stands in this game compared to Drake. That ain’t no secret. Numbers don’t lie,” said Birdman. “Either you’re in or you’re out. If you’re out, you’re an outcast to me.”

The 2012 LP Careless World: Rise of the Last King was Tyga’s first under Cash Money/Young Money. His debut album, No Introduction, was released via the indie label Decaydance Record (now DCD2 Records) in 2008. The Gold Album: The 18th Dynasty was originally scheduled for release on December 23.
