I am hearing some wild rumors about the record labels and a new, serious enemy. I heard that Minister Louis Farrakhan is about to be Public Enemy #1 with the remaining major labels. Apparently, the minister has gotten fed up and seeks to go at the labels, but I heard he’s got a particular grievance with Atlantic Records. I don’t know exactly why. This comes on the heels of Bobby Shmurder doing the huck-a-buck in front of EleHow he intends to do this, I don’t know. I am assuming there is a boycott of some sort. I am also going to assume there will be some call to action on the side of Hip-Hop. I don’t know for sure, but…it just sounds about right.
Farrakhan talking on these record companies and their b#######, I can dig it.
In an odd turn of events, comedian Katt Williams and former Death Row mogul Suge Knight were arrested on Wednesday in connection with an alleged robbery in Beverly Hills stemming back to September.
Williams, 43, and Knight, 49 have each been charged with one count of robbery stemming from an incident in which officials say the two allegedly stole a camera from a celebrity photographer.
Due a previous conviction for an assault with a deadly weapon, Knight is now facing up to 30 years in prison while Williams faces up to seven. Bail is being requested at $1 million for Knight and $75,000 for Williams according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

I received a bunch of inbox messages this week with the familiar words, “Did you see this?” This is what people write to me on Facebook when they want me to know about some kind of ridiculous embarrassment, tragedy or symptom of dysfunctionality that occurs in the black community. On this day, I received the same message, with the same video, several times, with each person expressing the same outrage as the person before them.
The topic of conversation was the recent in-house performance that New York rapper Bobby Shmurda did in front of the executives at Epic Records. The audience, consisting mostly of white people with a few black ones sprinkled in-between, was given a private “audition” by Bobby as he spit his lyrics in celebration of their newfound business relationship.
Some of my friends thought I would be angry about the video. The truth is that I wasn’t angry, especially not at Bobby. Instead, I felt sorry for him. Bobby Shmurda is basically a kid, still learning how the world works. It won’t be a few years before he finds out that the executives at Epic were only seeking to use him. It won’t be until he’s 30 years old that he realizes that they are laughing at him under their breath. It will only be in a chance meeting with someone like Min Louis Farrakhan that Bobby will learn that he was volunteering himself to be used as a tool for the promotion of black male genocide and white supremacist thinking.
Bobby’s not the one at fault here, since he’s being manipulated by his overseers.
In case you don’t know, Bobby got his big break with a song called “Hot n*gga.” In that video, the theme is pretty much focused on how quickly Bobby Shmurda and his crew will blow another n*ggaz brains out if they make him angry. The song got traction on social media, since some of us think that black teen murder is cool, and also got the attention of Epic Records, which then invested large sums of money into the mass marketing of black male homicide all throughout the United States.
Of course Epic didn’t cause all the murders occurring in black neighborhoods, but they are certainly seeking to profit from them. They may not approve of the death and decay occurring in the lives of young black men, but they are happy to glorify it.
In my city of Chicago, I see the product of the constant marketing of gun violence, where black neighborhoods are flooded with military-style weapons, but devoid of educational and economic opportunities. I’m constantly bombarded with stories of infants being hit by stray bullets, or pregnant mothers being shot down on the way to the grocery store.
I’ve had long conversations with numerous psychologists like Dr. Monikah Ogando and Dr. Tommy Whittler, who explain how musical messages impact your subconscious thinking and play a very direct role in how a young black man with a gun on his waist responds to conflict. It’s not cool for him to talk it out or seek out peace. Instead, he gets applauded for being a “hot n*gga” and putting a bullet in another black man.
Epic Records and its executives, if they have even an ounce of intelligence, can’t help but feel the pangs of guilt that come from endorsing such a destructive message to young black men who are already dying and rotting away in prison by the truck load. Bobby Shmurda is clearly talented, and a seemingly wise and seasoned black man like LA Reid could have easily redirected Bobby’s message to something that would help black men live instead of encourage them to die. In fact, I doubt that any of the Epic Records executives watching that performance would even be in that room if they weren’t positioned to make millions off of Bobby’s exploitation.
If Bobby Shmurda were my son, I’d say, “Son, you’re better than that. Your brilliance should be used to lift your brother, not to kill him. You are meant to run the world, not perform minstrel shows for a room full of bigots.” But the problem is that Bobby’s father was locked up in the prison industrial complex, which is why he’s quite content to stand in front of white folks and say, “I’m a hot n*gga.”
Bobby’s performance is a symptom of a larger problem, we know that. And by encouraging him to promote and live a lifestyle filled with criminal, self-destructive behavior, they may be signing this kid’s death certificate.

DJ Premier sat down with Snoop Dogg on GGN to talk about his new ventures but also reminisce on the good ole days.
During their convo, Premo touched on what he would like to see happen with the BET cyphers.
“I liked it in the earlier stages,” said the Gang Starr. “Now I just want it to stay to a certain degree where you get the newest generation rock…but do some other ventures. Get a Kool Moe Dee and a Kane or a KRS or a Grandmaster Caz or a Melle Mel.That’ll make it even more dope.”
Watch them reminisce on the days of ‘no rap’, connect over their love for James Brown and see what R&B crooner the super-producer has a “banger” with.
These days everybody has to have proof of what they did or WHO they did, and this groupie got lucky.
For the looks of things Wiz spent an evening with a fan, who took a few pics for the road of the rapper in bed.

MediaTakeout shared the photos today and he can’t deny its him, we know that purple ass hair from anywhere. Seems like Wiz been doing the most since Amb decided to call it quits.
I am hearing a rumor that’s not so good and hopefully it gets cleared up quickly. The word coming out of the West is that legendary O.G. rapper Spice-1 may have had a stroke recently. My sources tell me that he has not died from it, if it even happened. But this would be a harsh couple of years for the dude Spice-1. A ways bad he got shot. I will say this. Based on his Twitter, I can’t see any evidence of a stroke unless it was a very mild one, because he’s consistently been RT’ing people. Actual tweeting – not so much. We need more rappers like Spice-1 – real dudes that actually have skills.
Here is Spice-1 after he got shot.
He said he stuck his finger in the bullet hole of his own body. That bullet is still in his body to this day, I’m hearing.
Ice Cube has come a long way from saying ‘F— The Police.”
Cube has been busy shooting the N.W.A biopic but found some time to visit Sesame Street to teach Elmo some new words and do a few “astounding” magic tricks. Watch the cute clip below.
I am hearing some bad stuff! This is in the wake of Chief Keef getting dropped. I am hearing Durk has also received a release. I mean that’s about the size of it. There is no hard confirmation from anybody at this time. Just the word on the streets. Durk seems like a good dude, even though I have never heard one of his songs.
Just a week after he dropped “Parental Advisory,” Jay Rock let loose “Pay For It” last night (Oct. 28). With lyrical assistance from Black Hippy comrade Kendrick Lamar, the two remind their friends and foes in the game that they are here to win and going against them won’t get them far as Chantal croons on the chorus. Press play below.
With a name like Rich Dollaz, owing money shouldn’t be an issue, right? Wrong, and he’s sitting in jail right now because of it.
TMZ reports that the Love and Hip Hop star double parked outside of a police headquarters in Edgewater, NJ, which earned him a ticket. When the officer ran his plates, it was discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest. Turns out that the 43-year-old owes $11,000 in child support and was thrown into Hudson County jail. He’s still in custody.
(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop veterans Keith Murray and Fredro Starr were supposed to face off in a MC War rap battle on September 28th, but the showdown was cancelled at the last minute due to financial issues. The promoters and the emcees have settled whatever issues prevented the match from taking place, and the two rap stars will finally meet at a rescheduled event.
The reset main event of NWO2 will take place November 21 at The Atrium in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The event will also air on pay-per-view Thanksgiving Day, November 27 with pre-sales beginning November 1. A limited number of free tickets for the live show are available at mcwar.com.
“We did this [offering free tickets] to give back to those fans that really want to be there to experience part of Hip Hop history, also all those that purchased tickets for the previous date will be honored,” stated MC Wars’ Chief Operating Officer Amir James in an email to AllHipHop.com. “We also want to thank Keith Murray and Fredro Starr for their sportsman like conduct in allowing us to reschedule the event.”
(AllHipHop News) T-Pain has been very vocal about his contribution to the use of Auto-Tune becoming a major trend in modern music. The “Can’t Believe It” singer has also been critical of other artists’ attempt at using the pitch altering effect. Pain recently spoke with HuffPost Live, and during the segment he points out one particular rapper that is not using Auto-Tune the right way in his opinion.
Kanye uses it, but he doesn’t use it correctly. He makes great music with it, but the way that I use it and the way that I’ve shown Chris [Brown] and Jamie [Foxx] to use it, he doesn’t use it that way… He sings without it first and then he puts it on after he’s done with the vocals… You don’t know how it’s going to come out. You can’t catch your mistakes before they happen. So sometimes it gets a little bit wobbly and things like that… [Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak] was actually pretty good, but I had a lot to do with that album… 808s & Heartbreak was Rappa Ternt Sanga.
According to Pain, Auto-Tune is essentially ineffective if the performer does not have an understanding of melody, harmony, and music in general. After dropping Gold certified studio albums such as Rappa Ternt Sanga, Epiphany, and Three Ringz, the Florida native is prepping a “Greatest Hits” project. T-Pain Presents Happy Hour: The Greatest Hits is scheduled for release on November 4.
