Future’s real name is Nayvadius D. Wilburn.
R&B crooner and The Voice’s vocal coach Usher ended season 6 of the Voice with two unique performances. Usher took the stage to perform a special cover of D’Angelo‘s “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” with fellow coach Adam Levine. He also collaborated with team member Josh Kaufman for a cover of the Police’s “Every Breath You Take.” Adam gave fans a nice gritty soulful intro along with a nice guitar riff. Usher jumped in with his notable tenor. D’Angelo is known for his unique runs, range, and voice inflections. Usher and Adam nailed it. Check out the videos below.
(AllHipHop News) In 2013, the music industry experienced its lowest five week stretch in Soundscan history and the last week of July 2013 had the lowest weekly total ever (4.68 million copies). Earlier today (May 20th), Questlove spoke on how even commercial Hip Hop is failing due to the changing climate and its stagnant relationship with innovation.
Questlove answered questions from Vulture readers about his recent five-part essay series on Vulture which focused on the change and demise of Black culture. In his answer to one reader, The Roots drummer explains how Hip Hop’s apparent dominance is deceptive and that it’s not only the art that is suffering but the sales:
Now the commercial heads aren’t doing big numbers anymore. Big Sean went from selling more than 300,000 copies to under 150,000. 2 Chainz moved more than 600,000 of Based on a T.R.U. Story, but was down to 250,000 for B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time. Rick Ross, for the most part, held steady as a gold-selling artist between 2006 and 2012, with albums in the 550,000 to 750,000 range, but his last time out he got to 300,000. Future’s Honest, one of the most highly touted and advertised releases of the year, moved 11,000 copies in its third week on the chart, and has only sold 85,000 overall so far.
Questlove and The Roots recently released their 11th studio album, …& Then You Shoot Your Cousin, a body of work predicated on experimentation. According to Questlove, while Hip Hop may have a few acts indulging in that level of experimentation, innovation is becoming lost on the art form”
In DJ/sonic terms, it’s similar to what happens with a siren: When it’s headed our way, the pitch is a little higher because sound waves are bunched up. As it moves away, they spread out and that pitch drops. Well, hip-hop culture has redshifted. The pitch has dropped. Innovation may exist, but it’s not the dominant characteristic anymore. It’s moving away.

(AllHipHop News) Capitol comeback. Less than three months after 50 Cent left Interscope Records to sign with Caroiline/Capitol Records, The-Dream has followed suit.
A month before 50 Cent announced his severing of ties with Interscope Records, The-Dream announced on his personal Instagram account that he was leaving Def Jam after seven years. The-Dream did not formally announce his signing to Capitol Records, however as Hip Hop-N-More reports, his latest iTunes single “Black” has his label listed as “Capitol Records”:
Two years earlier it was rumored that The-Dream was set to sign with frequent collaborator Jay Z’s Roc Nation. During a 2012 interview with MTV’s RapFix Live, Dream stated that Roc Nation was his “family” but “I’m not signing with Roc Nation.”
(AllHipHop News) The New Orleans residents who run the Lower 9th Ward Village are facing the possibility that the community center may have to close down. The facility is the location where the Lil Wayne, Mountain Dew, and Glu Agency sponsored Trukstop Skatepark was placed.
Unfortunately, while Wayne, Mountain Dew, and Glu were present for a well publicized grand opening in 2012, the rapper and the companies have not continued their contributions or support to complete and staff the park.

“It was my intention, through my relationship with brand partners, to provide the good people of New Orleans with a skatepark,” stated Wayne. “Unfortunately, the deal did not work out, and due to issues beyond my control, I am no longer involved with the skatepark. Helping New Orleans has always been important to me. My team and I are looking into other initiatives for the future.”
Now facing foreclosure, Lower 9th Ward Village is asking for support via Kickstarter to help keep the community center and skatepark open. The campaign is hoping to collect $75,000 by May 27th. As of press time 342 backers have contributed $20,589.

(AllHipHop News) Kid Cudi’s comments about the current state of Hip Hop earlier this year are still garnering responses from other individuals in the culture. Speaking with Power 105’s The Breakfast Club, Maybach Music Group rapper Meek Mill offered his defense of the type of rap music he felt Cudi was referring to with his remarks.

“I think the braggadocio, money, cash, hoes thing needs to be deaded,” said Cudi while appearing on The Arsenio Hall Show. “I feel like that’s holding us back as a culture, as black people.”
In response Meek stated:
I seen Kid Cudi say “they rap about money, cars, hoes and all this stuff.” I’m like, bro, we don’t tell y’all what to rap about. If he choose to rap about sniffing coke, I ain’t gonna say nothing about him rapping about that. If J. Cole wanna rap about college, I might want to hear the experience of college. I’ve never been to college… Rap is rap. It’s about how you putting them words together, how you making them flows sound on that beat, and how you making good music. You can’t say 2Pac your favorite rapper and you ain’t trying to hear nobody talk about the streets, Jay Z. You can’t say it. What is y’all saying? I don’t understand it.

(AllHipHop News) Macklemore has been catching heat for a costume he wore recently. Some critics saw the outfit as offensive for reinforcing Jewish stereotypes. The Grammy winning rapper had already denied via tweet the large fake nose and dark beard were meant to represent any ethic group, but Macklemore felt the need to issue a longer apology on his blog.

Family, friends and fans alike who know me well, know that I’m absolutely not the person described in certain headlines today. There is no worse feeling than being misunderstood, especially when people are hurt or offended.
On Friday night we had a surprise show at the EMP Museum in Seattle. Earlier in the day I thought it would be fun to dress up in a disguise and go incognito to the event, so that I could walk around unnoticed and surprise the crowd with a short performance. I picked up a bunch of fake mustaches and beards and grabbed a left over wig from our recent trip to Japan.
As it turns out the fake noses they sell at the costume store are usually big (my nose didn’t fit most of them). So I ended up with a big witch nose. I went with a black beard, because that’s the furthest color from my natural hair. Disguise was the intention. I personally thought I looked very ambiguous in terms of any “type” of person. Some people there thought I looked like Ringo, some Abe Lincoln. If anything I thought I looked like Humpty Hump with a bowl cut.
We showed up to the event, I hit the stage in the outfit, rocked two songs, took pictures and went home. We had a great time and it was fun to be a surprise guest in a costume. I’ve always loved dressing up and have been doing so my entire career. The character I dressed up as on Friday had no intended cultural identity or background. I wasn’t attempting to mimic any culture, nor resemble one. A “Jewish stereotype” never crossed my mind.
My intention was to dress up and surprise the people at the show with a random costume and nothing more. Thus, it was surprising and disappointing that the images of a disguise were sensationalized leading to the immediate assertion that my costume was anti-Semetic. I acknowledge how the costume could, within a context of stereotyping, be ascribed to a Jewish caricature. I am here to say that it was absolutely not my intention, and unfortunately at the time I did not foresee the costume to be viewed in such regard. I’m saddened that this story, or any of my choices, would lead to any form of negativity.
I will let my body of work and the causes for which I’ve supported speak for themselves. I hope that anyone who may question my intent take a few moments to discover the human and artist that I strive to be. I respect all cultures and all people. I would never intentionally put down anybody for the fabric that makes them who they are. I love human beings, love originality, and… happen to love a weird outfit from time to time.
I truly apologize to anybody that I may have offended. I hope this better explains the situation and my point of view.
With love,
Ben
PS – Out of a negative can come a positive. Through this situation I’ve got hip to some incredible groups like the ADL and I encourage people to check the great work they, and others like them, do: http://www.adl.org

I don’t know if Joseline got hacked or if this account is fake, but it seems like she (or somebody) claims that her husband Stevie J beats on her. I don’t watch the reality show with “Hip-Hop” in it, but I do know these two are like a Bonnie and Clyde couple. So, I’m not sure if she would air him out like that. One thing is for sure, these pics suggest that there was some activity around her face and neck being marked up. The visuals are just a bit too small for me to see. But, after going to her Twitter…it seems true.

Ladies ruled the night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Ca on Saturday night as Jennifer Lopez and Nicki Minaj tore down the house at the Power 106 Powerhouse 2014. The line-up had something for everyone and featured memorable performances form Sage the Gemini, Childish Gambino, Trey Songz, Schoolboy Q, Wiz Khalifa and headliners YG and DJ Mustard but it was the queens that reigned supreme.
From the moment J-Lo emerged from the center of the circled stage to her intro of “Same Girl” and “Get Right” it was a reminder of why she was and still is Jenny from the Block. Performing classic jam’s including “I’m Real” & “Ain’t It Funny” from when she and Ja Rule ran the charts to her current hit “I luh you papi” her black leather hot pants revealed her perfectly sculpted assets as she gave a little tease of her upcoming single “Big Booty” but told the crowd “that’s all the a** you’re gonna get tonight. We won’t have to wait too much longer as the American Idol judge is preparing to release her upcoming album A.K.A on June 17. Clearly it must be the ass that got em like that because she danced her booty off her entire 30 minute set before closing with Jenny on the Block.
Without a doubt however, the crowd was definitely awaiting the arrival of the reigning Queen of Hip-Hop who is also preparing for the upcoming release of her next albumThe Pink Project, and Nicki announced her new single will be dropping this Wednesday before she took it back to the basics with one mic and a dj. Explaining why she didn’t have her usual band or dancer’s she said “ I’m not going to bring my dancers, J-Lo is there she can do that, I’m not going to bring my band because Trey Songz is there he can do that, so what can I do? So I said Fu** it! I’m going back to my mixtape days and come out with my motherfu**in DJ because there is one thing that they can’t do and that’s be the Motherfuc**in Queen of Hip-hop!” Keeping it all the way Hip-hop performing “Lookin ass Ni**a her verse on Young Thug’s “Danny Glover” remix, “Chi Ra” “Did It On ‘Em,” “Beez in the Trap,” “Dance (A$$), “Love More,” and Boss Ass Bi**h She also brought out Soulja Boy to perform “Yass Bish”. She also performed her more popular hits “Superbass” “Starships” and “Moment 4 Life”
