Man Claims NYPD Cops Forced Him To Rap For His Freedom

(AllHipHop News) With all the attention on the New York Police Department lately after the reported racial profiling incidents at Barneys and Macy’s the latest allegation of harassment is giving the NYPD another public and community relations disaster to deal with. In this case an aspiring East New York rapper says officers made him perform for them in order to escape jail.

In what sounds like a modern-day incident of forced “shuckin’ and jivin’,” Quinshon Shingles, aka Sauce Da Boss, says plainclothes officers forced him to rap as he laid handcuffed on the floor of his cousin’s apartment back in 2011.

“I felt like they were humiliating me,” Shingles told the New York Post. “They were all Caucasian officers, and I’m a black man, and they had me performing  for my freedom. I was really upset.”

The officers allegedly got the building’s super to open the door to the apartment after the resident refused to let them in without a warrant. They apparently suspected Shingle’s cousin of a crime, but no charges were brought.

One of the officers at the scene, David Grieco, is already under investigation for other illegal entries. Grieco and other NYPD cops have faced several lawsuits concerning illegal searches and theft.

Shingles adds that the officers kept him and two other people handcuffed as they searched the premises. Eventually, after learning he was a rapper, the cops told him he better “rap something” if he wants to go home. They approved of his rhymes and let him go.

Shingles has filed a lawsuit against the NYPD in Brooklyn Federal Court.

Eminem Predicted To Have Second Biggest First Week Sales Of 2013

(AllHipHop News) Eminem’s run of huge first week sales appears to be continuing. Slim’s latest album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is sure to hit number one on the Billboard 200 next week, and according to first day predictions it will top every other release this year save one.

According to Billboard, MMLP2 is headed to a first week total between 700,000 and 750,000 units. That would give Eminem’s eighth studio album the second highest selling opening week in 2013 behind Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience. JT’s comeback album pushed 968,000 in its initial 7 days back in March.

This will be Em’s sixth consecutive number one solo album. None of those projects sold less than 600,000 copies in its first week. He also reached the top spot as one half of Bad Meets Evil with Royce da 5’9″ when they released the Hell: The Sequel EP.

Three of the top five opening weeks of the year have been from Hip Hop artists. Number three comes from Drake. His Nothing Was The Same sold 658,000 its first week. That is followed by Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail with 528,000 units, and Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories with 339,000 units.

Underground Effects: Dee-1 And Mannie Fresh Drop New Single: “I’ll Pay For It”

Newly signed New Orleans rapper, Dee-1,  waxes poetic over a Soulja Slim-inspired, Mannie Fresh beat in his new song “I’ll Pay For It”. In the song Dee and a friend are newly minted billionaires and the aforementioned friend is all geared up to hit the strip club and make it rain to celebrate. His more evolved companion Dee though has an idea that will surely go over like a lead balloon amongst his southern rap compatriots; instead use their new-found wealth to shut the strip clubs down by paying each dancer what she’d make at the club in a year, hence empowering her to find another line of employment.

Take a listen to “I’ll Pay For It” below:

Dee was rightfully nervous as he went to press play on the finished song for Mannie Fresh. Mannie has been known to put a dancer or two through college in his day.

Says D,

“I always like to try to impress Mannie, so i was excited. Then, when I pressed play I got nervous because I didn’t know how he’d feel about the message of the song. When it went off and he said he loved it, I let out a big sigh of relief.”

Mannie himself was more cavalier on the subject when asked his reaction to hearing the song for the first time, saying only,

“Who ever made that beat is a genius and the rapper on the song is very lucky to know him. Dee-1 is a super great look for hip hop and the city of New Orleans. He is a very true to life artist and his raps come from his life experiences. Also he is not afraid to take a positive stand for rap.”

With his RCA signing announcement only a week old, Dee is still going through the process of letting everyone know and thanking his thousands of well-wishers and supporters. In a recent letter to his former students, the middle school teacher-turned emcee posted…..

This is specifically for all the students I ever taught math, life skills, or study skills to at Baker Middle School. This is for any student I ever tutored, mentored, or held a conversation with in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, or over the phone. This is for any kid who I ever coached in basketball. When I walked away from my job as a teacher it was a tough decision, but once I did it, I wanted to make sure I made it because I knew I could represent and symbolize something we rarely see where we come from. My dream came true. Yours can too. But first you have to have a dream. Find something you love, something you can become great at, something you’re willing to do for free, just because you love it so much. Something your mom can be proud of and say “Ooohhh yall look at my baby!! He/she is doing soooo well.” Then do it. Focus on getting better and remaining positive. GRIND!!! No wait, my bad….. SHUT UP AND GRIND!!! #SUAG is the new SWAG. Yep, I love all yall. I want to see yall WIN! Let my success serve as MOTIVATION

The letter can be found in its entirety on Dee’s Tumblr page here.

“I’ll Pay For It” will be on Dee-1′s next upcoming project, “Psalms of David II”, which drops on November 19th.

Dee-1 once again has taken a taboo topic and addressed it head on. The underground world has become accustomed to this but now that he is signed it’s even more invigorating to see him stay on his path and continue to reach out to the youth in order to inspire and motivate them to do all that they dare to dream. Where so many artists or entertainers fuss and complain and flat out yell about having zero desire to be role models for the kids who look up to them, Dee-1 makes it a point to demonstrate that he is trying to be a role model for the youth. Wow!

He defied the odds by even getting singed considering his music has always had a greater purpose and positive message, but now being signed and continuing to show kids that they can do whatever they want if they just apply themselves and believe puts Dee-1 aka Mr. Augustine on a Hip Hop pedestal all his own.  And it is well deserved.

Congratulations again to Dee-1! We can’t wait to see what else he comes up with!

Hip-Hop Rumors: RAPE? What Rapper Is Accused Of Rape?

Right now, for legal reasons, I cannot disclose the name of the artist that is accused of rape. But, this is about to hit like a bomb and will leave bodies in the street. But a woman has come forward to accuse a NEW YORK RAPPER of rape. Read below. Recently, this rapper has seen a resurgence and that resurgence prompted the expose. As always, innocent until proven guilty, but this is certain to get addressed very soon. I will say that this guy has a pretty good track record for doing music with a decidedly positive flair.

it makes me sick to my stomach that this man has any shine whatsoever.

in 2007 I was interning at [a well-known studio] in NYC.

He was always in there with [a super well known producer] recording and writing for his album ironically called — (DAMN, I CAN’T SAY!)

It was around Christmas time and they invited me and some of the other interns to a party out in (A CERTAIN AREA OF NY) where he lives.

The party was at a restaurant. It was nice. The people were nice.

I shouldn’t have gone out there in the first place, but I was 18 and naive.

After the party he asks me to drive him home because he was drunk and that he’d have a car waiting for me at his townhome.
in the car he was being rude and shouting a bunch of crazy things.. not even sure of what anymore. I was driving the wrong way, wrong turns, then i wasnt, then i was. then he was hungry.. idk.

as we pulled into his neighborhood he started touching me and being VERY aggressive. physically and verbally. I was terrified. He then took my phone away.
I finally get to his house and he pulled me out of the car by my arms then hair. I was crying so hard that I couldn’t even function.
he threw me inside of his townhouse and got on top of me trying to have sex with me. he slapped me in the face and told me to shut up and that I should feel fortunate because he was in a relationship with (A FAMOUS ACTRESS THAT’S SO HOT NOW)???

he pulled my dress up and pulled his pants down and said “lets make a little girl” “dont you want my little girl”

I grabbed one of his phones and ran into the bathroom and called the police.
they came and took me to a cab. They filed a report but I never pressed charges.

For months after this day he would write to me threatening my life. He’d text me daily saying that I deserved to die and that he prays God never gives me a gift of a child because I dont even deserve my own life let alone to create a new one.

If this story is picked up and he somehow sees it, he will know who I am. but that doesn’t matter to me now. I’m 25, married, have a child and am pregnant with our second.

But the truth should be told about this disgusting human being.

THE ACCUSER THEN CONTINUED WITH WHY SHE DIDN’T PRESS CHARGES.

when I called the cops all I said on the phone was the address and that I needed help.

It was a traumatic night and I was eager to get out of there. When they came to the door he was trying to tell them that I was his girlfriend and we were having a dispute. I grabbed my purse and got out of there as fast as I could.

I didnt want to press charges and end up in court, and the news, and constantly relive this. be attacked over and over. I was scared. and young. and a part of me didnt want all of my peers to hate me for something that just happened to happen. weakness is the answer to your questions.

He had my number from the whole talk of this Christmas party.

I have the texts from him still on an old laptop in case of everything, but I changed my number not too long after.

I could still pull up his myspace messages to this day

Hip-Hop Rumors: Erica Mena Says K. Michelle is Scared to Shoot ‘LHHNY’ Scenes With Her

The K. Michelle and Erica Mena beef storyline on Love & Hip-Hop hasn’t started to unfold yet but we know from previews, interviews and general word on the street that they don’t get along. The new word on the street according to Erica Mena is that K. Michelle has been hating on her for no reason. Mena also called K. Michelle “trash and says that she’s scared of her NY-realness.

“I haven’t really had the pleasure of going face-to-face with her,” she told DjsDoingWork.com. “She has a lot to say about me, but she’s scared to shoot with me.”

The two haven’t gotten into a physical altercation just yet but it might be brewing.

“She’s coming from out of nowhere. Now, all of a sudden she has some harsh opinions about me, and she doesn’t even know me,” she said. “Right now, she’s just feelin’ her own $h!t! In the Concrete Jungle, there’s definitely no Southern hospitality. Anyone who’s gotten in a fight with me doesn’t last. I’m starting to feel like I have these secret powers where I get to kill people off one by one.”

Umm…ok.

I kinda want to see that fight though. My money is on Erica. Did you see that footage of her drop kicking her baby daddy?

French Montana B-Day Bash in South Beach

This past weekend, French Montana celebrated his birthday at the Hennessy V.S event at South Beach hotspot Prestige Sundays at Bamboo. Montana spent the evening popping Hennessy bottles with Rick Ross, R&B star Miguel and controversial NFL player, Pacman Jones. French was in a great mood, smiling all night long and rapping along to several of his songs.  DJ Camillo kept the crowd dancing while the Hennessy girls paraded around the club with Hennessy luminous bottles shining bright.

Jim Jones & Crissy Talks Harlem Gentrification, Financial Literacy + More (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The Harlem that Jim Jones and Chrissy Lampkin grew up on in the 80’s and 90’s is no longer the same. In a recent interview with TheGrio, the pair discussed the gentrification of Harlem, missed business opportunities and more.

According to New York City census data, the population of non-Hispanic white residents of West Harlem increased by over 405% between 2000 and 2010 while the population non-Hispanic Black residents decreased by over 13%. Jim reasons that gentrification can be good for an area if it also takes into account helping those that were originally residents of Harlem with employment.

The Diplomats rapper also explains how the lack of information on financial literacy at a young age was conducive to him and many Black residents of Harlem from prospering:

When we were younger, if that hustle mentality and that business mind were a little bit more adept and we had a little more structure we would’ve known those same buildings we made millions out of we would’ve brought those a long time ago. There would be no gentrification right now, there would be a bunch of Black people owning all the top Brownstones for pennies on the dollar.

Hip-Hop Rumors: The Game’s Alleged “Ghostwriter” To Sue????

This rumor is one of epic proportions. Why? There is a man out there purporting to be a ghostwriter for The Game. Yes, The Game. Now, we know Game as one of the dopest rappers around and one of the dudes that kept the West alive when it was in a slump. Now, this mystery rapper is claiming that he wrote on The Documentary, but never got paid for “Dreams.” The artist is not coming forward just yet, but is rumored to looking into his options. But, here is the crazy thing. Other than 50 Cent, nobody has claimed that The Game ever used a ghostwriter to my knowledge until now. What do you think? BS? The Truth? Insanity or so so real that your mind is blown?

No comment from The Game yet…because this is exclusively being released now.

Exclusive: Yo Gotti Speaks on New Album “I Am” + Sha Money XL Influence

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Yo Gotti spoke with AllHipHop.com about his new recording process during the New York preview of his upcoming album I Am.

A number of rappers turned up to support Yo Gotti, including A-Mafia, Chinx, Mysonne, rap moguls L.A. Reid and Sylvia Rhone and Epic Records’ A&R, Sha Money XL.

Sha Money, who cut his teeth with 50 Cent’s G-Unit empire, also held a spot at Island Def Jam as Vice President of A&R, before accepting his current role as Executive Vice President of Urban A&R at Epic Records in May.

Traditionally, the A&R position has not been held in high regards in some Hip-Hop circles, due to the creative control they often exercise over a project, which can lead to conflict, especially when sales are disappointing.

Sha Money XL
Sha Money XL

Sha Money, born Michael Clervoix, could be changing the negative perception that some artists have of an A&R person, according to Yo Gotti. Sha Money worked directly with the Memphis-based rapper for his Epic Records debut, I Am, which is due in stores on November 19.

“Working with Sha Money, I got a whole different picture on what an A&R is,” Yo Gotti explained. “It’s another teammate who will help you put it [an album] together, from sending me records and sending me beats that I would have never heard. It’s like another set of eyes, hands and ears that help you reach out to the people quicker and faster and have different inputs on the album.”

The first single from I Am produced the hit single “Act Rite” featuring CTE/Def Jam artist Young Jeezy and Compton-based rapper YG.

“The ‘Act Rite’ record I recorded out in LA. I went to Atlanta and played some records for Jeezy and let him hear it,” Yo Gotti revealed to AllHipHop.com. “He jumped on it and we put YG on it. shout out to the Bay area. We shot the video, no treatment or nothing. just popped up with the cameras live like that and captured the culture.”

Kool G Rap & Necro Give Their Top 5 Horror Villains, Gangster Flicks & Rap Duo Albums

(AllHipHop Features) In one of the most memorable scenes in Francis Ford Coppola’s masterful crime drama The Godfather the heads of the five New York families came together to broker an end to the city’s warring factions. Much in the same way, two New York Hip Hop dons decided to unite to, as they put it, help Hip Hop out of its current troubled state.

The “Father of Mafioso Rap” Kool G Rap and the “Father of Death Rap” Necro, collectively known as The Godfathers, are set to release their first collaborative project Once Upon A Crime on November 19th. AllHipHop caught up with the master of multisyllabic rhymes and the former death metal rocker to get the horror movie character/actors, gangster-themed motion pictures, and Hip Hop albums from a duo that make their list of the Top 5 of all time.

What are your Top 5 Horror movie characters of all time?

Kool G Rap: Jack Nicholson, Robert England, Linda Blair, and you gotta throw Vincent Price in there because he’s one of the originals. He was the Bruce Lee of his genre. And Anthony Perkins.

Necro: Ralphus from Blood Sucking Freaks. Frank Zito from Maniac. The main star from Dark Vengeance. That dude was live. The dude from Saw, and the dude from Witchmaster. He’s a scumbag. Obviously we could pick a million people. We could pick Leatherface. We could pick Robert England. G Rap picked them all classic, and I picked them all underground.

What are your Top 5 gangster movies of all time?

Necro: I think me and G are going to agree on most of this.

Kool G Rap: Goodfellas, The Godfather, Casino, Once Upon A Time In America, and…

Necro: Mobsters?

Kool G Rap: Mobsters. Absolutely. You know which one we keep leaving out? Bugsy. Bugsy was crazy.

Necro: Scarface.

Kool G Rap: That’s gangster. Yeah, absolutely. And anybody sleeping on this English movie called Rise of the Foot Soldier, that s**t is bananas, and it’s about a true story.

Excluding yourselves, what are your Top 5 Hip Hop albums by a duo?

Necro: I would have to go with [Kool G Rap & DJ Polo’s] Road To The Riches/Wanted Dead Or Alive. Here’s the thing I’m partial to G Rap so Live and Let Die. I like Main Source’s Breaking Atoms. I like Gangstarr’s Step In The Arena. Let the Rhythm Hit ’Em by Eric B. & Rakim. We could leave it at that or I could keep going.

Kool G Rap: I would have to say [Eric B. & Rakim’s] Paid In Full. Mobb Deep’s first album [The Infamous]. M.O.P.’s Till The Death.

Necro: What about Run-D.M.C.?

Kool G Rap: Run-D.M.C. for sure. Raising Hell, Tougher than Leather, take your pick. Them dudes always came with the crazy, official hits. I would definitely have to have Run-D.M.C. on there.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Foxy Brown Makes A New, Bold Move!

It has been quite some time since we’ve heard the name Foxy Brown in a positive light. However, insiders are stating to me that Foxy Brown is done with all the weave scandals and all the foolishness. I heard she has completed a new album and is all set to release it to the world. I’m not sure what she will be talking about, but I am hearing it will have a much more mature tone, potentially spiritual.

Lets see!

Turk Calls Out Lil Wayne, Birdman, Mannie Fresh + More For Being Fake Friends W/ VIDEO

(AllHipHop News) The veil is being removed over a friendship the general public had no reason to believe was dysfunctional. According to a statement from Turk, he is on the outs with Lil Wayne, Juvenile, Birdman and Mannie Fresh among others, over lack of support.

In the statement exclusively obtained by AllHipHop.com, Turk claims the Cash Money/Young Money bosses (including Roland “Slim” Williams) and Mannie Fresh did not provide any financial or tangible support on burial of his brother, Ronald Smith in 2010.

His father, Tab Virgil Sr recently passed on October 30th from an apparent homicide. Aside from support, Turk alleges he doesn’t even have an open line of communication with the men he’s worked with since 1996 and known longer:

I been calling texting you n*ggas and ain’t receive no call bacc…I’m through trying to make you nig*as look real. When my lil brother got killed I had to bury him out of my attorney fee$ money and now it happend again with my daddy and I have bury him by myself with no help from you so called FRIENDS.

Turk did state in an interview with XXL last year that Wayne sent him money while he was incarcerated.

Turk, whose real name is Tab Virgil Jr, is scheduling a “Homegoing Service” for his father at Lion Of Judah International Ministries in New Orleans this Thursday (November 7th). The viewing will be at 10 A.M. until the time of the funeral service.

AllHipHop.com reached out to Turk’s management, but they declined to comment on the issue.

Check out a picture and video recording of Turk’s allegations against his former comrades:
