(AllHipHop News) Soul singer Erykah Badu is catching heat from the Human Rights Foundation for singing “Happy Birthday” to Swaziland’s King Mswati III. The organization calls Mswati a “corrupt tyrant.”

“She owes us all an explanation. The king is a kleptocrat who lives in the lap of obscene luxury while most of his countrymen toil in abject poverty for less than $2 a day,” said HRF’s Alex Gladstein said in a statement.
Badu spoke with The Dallas Morning News about her performance and the HRF’s response:
I don’t keep up with current events [in Swaziland]. I’m touring eight months out of the year. I wish I was more educated — and I am also not so quick to judge before I find out any information,” said Badu. “I was in attendance with half of the citizens of Swaziland, who cheered him on, and shared a stage with 20 performers, and all of them were Swazi.
I want to address the people, not a group or a government agency. The people know I was not endorsing the king or helping to further his political agenda. I have no agenda. I went into a situation not completely knowing the political climate of the kingdom. I can’t be held responsible for the situation in the kingdom because I signed up as an artist, not as a political activist. I don’t belong to anyone or to anything. Anything I do is because I am a human being, and I am for the people.
This is an opportunity for groups claiming they are for the rights of humans to shine a spotlight on this situation using me as a tool. The people that I’ve walked with for the past 15 years know who I am and how I move and need no explanation. The people who don’t know won’t understand anyway, so why explain?
Badu added there is not a place on the planet she will not go, and she sees “freedom ahead for those enslaved and the slave masters.”

King asks Pusha T why he thinks there are not more openly gay rappers in the industry. The Virginia native responds by challenging the idea that the Hip Hop community would have a problem with a gay rapper if the artist’s music is good.
“At this time, I sort of feel like the gay and homosexual culture is just not – the coming out party is just not that important anymore,” stated Push. “I don’t think we care.”
The conversation then turned to the word “n***a” and Pusha’s position on the NFL’s decision to ban the word.
“I think it definitely should be banned,” says the “Numbers On The Boards” rapper. “Anyone who gets my music, it’s a conscious decision to pick up my music, buy it. I feel like I don’t necessarily want to hear the ‘n-word’ on the instant reply cam as I’m watching the game.”
On his own use of the word he adds, “It’s offensive to some, but I would say that I’m using it amongst my peers and amongst people that I’ speaking with… I’m not offending anyone when I use it amongst people that I’m using it with.”

Inspired by the late great James Dean and his movie East of Eden, BRKLYN FLYWLKR drops his new single “B***h I’m Extravagant,” drawing influence from the world around him. BRKLYN FLYWLKR is well known across the Texas A&M campus for his lyrical performance and ties with many members of the Aggie football squad, which has catapulted him to the forefront of rappers on campus.
The consumption of liquor can be a blessing or a curse. For The Niceguys emcee Yves, it’s definitely both. On his latest solo single, the Queens emcee by way of Texas admits that we may never know the complete story of his alcohol filled nights thanks to the BLUR they’ve left behind. We get enough of a rough outline, though, to fill in the gaps.
The mechanical beat from producer Dorian (of The Outfit, TX) will most likely give listeners the feeling that these hazy nights have become a habit of EYS, with no end in sight. Maybe the rest of the details will come to him on his upcoming EP, Sincerely, Yves, which is due out May 6. The offering will be the first in a series of three EPs, each with 5-6 songs. Looks like he’s about to make a major statement in 2014.
(AllHipHop News) T.I. and The Game have had their share of legal fracas, but that didn’t stop the pair from engaging in a stand off with the Los Angeles Police Department.
The pair reportedly thought mutual acquaintances were brutally beaten by the police as they were making a club appearance. In fact, their friends were beaten by security at the club when a fight broke out. According to reports, their associate threw a punch at security and was thrashed, because some of the entourage couldn’t get into the club. While on the ground, the defenseless man was also kicked in the face by one security guard.
The two rappers were on the scene as the police were called to restore order. At points in the video, it seems like the factions would engage each other, but it never happened. The Game particularly seemed upset, but cooler heads prevailed.
TMZ obtained video of the whole ordeal. The first video shows the fight and the second shows T.I. and The Game.
