FINALLY!!!
Something halfway decent to report about Chris Brown. It looks like Chris is cleared from a lawsuit that said he assaulted some girl in June at a bar in Orange County. Chris was at Heat Ultra Lounge when the girl claimed that she was injured by Chris as he left the VIP area of the club. Chris Brown and his attorneys said she was just trying to get money and TMZ managed to find a video of her walking around after the incident. The case was rejected for insufficient evidence. Chris still has to do 1,000 hours of community service that he was p##### off about though.
But I think he’s calming down a little. A little while ago, Blood Breezy hit Twitter to thank his fans. Then he accepted his sentence. He thanked his fans for making him a leader.
I'm truly happy to have my fans and life. Even wit the bs. Can't make a leader.. They have to be chosen by the people. #iju love…

The community service isn't a problem anymore. Ill do what ever duty I need too to fulfill my requirements as a man and a leader.

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control” is weeks old which in normal Internet time means it’s ancient but its effects still reverberate through Hip Hop. One MC who was absent from the “Control” responses Brooklyn rapper Fabolous, recently spoke with VladTV about his reaction to the verse, why he has yet to respond and more.
Speaking with Vlad, Fabolous attributed a conversation with an unknown O.G. and “some research” as to why he has yet to respond to Kendrick’s verse:
I almost jumped the gun, I’m not going to lie. I kind of had to feel it out. An O.G. also told me that if you do it do it on your time when it works for you. Don’t do it to try and feed the Twitter mentions.
Fab also said he’s done “more than think about responding” and hints that a response is coming in the future and possibly on his “next street single.”

(AllHipHop News) The MTV Video Music Awards has been a national past time of nipslips, pregnancy reveals, expensive performances and overall shock for over 25 years. This year’s 2013 MTV Video Music Awards was the first held in Brooklyn at the new Barclay’s Center and from the looks of the festivities, Brooklyn should be the home for the VMA’s from now on.
Check out AllHipHop’s Top 3 Losers and Winners of last night’s MTV’s Video Music Awards
VMA LOSERS:
Miley Cyrus’ #TwerkQueen Crown Deflates On Stage
Miley Cyrus’ 2013 (especially summer) was basically three things: left butt cheek, right butt cheek, gyration. The woman who even has Jay-Z asserting that ” somewhere in America, Miley Cyrus is still twerking” performed at the Video Music Awards dressed in flesh color underwear Besides the awkward (sometimes off beat) dancing which included backing her thang up on Robin Thicke during his performance of “Blurred Lines”, the internet took note of Miley’s butt cheeks which sagged out of her booty shorts and did not let her forget:
A$AP Rocky Reminds Jason Collins (and the world) He’s Gay
In late April of this year, Jason Collins became the first active professional basketball player to admit to being a homosexual. While presenting together at the VMA’s, A$AP Rocky decided to remind Collins and the world that Collins is a representation of “homosexuals”. Rocky even makes sure to point in case people were unaware of who he was referring to:
Kanye West Lets His Shadow Perform For Him
Kanye West enjoys being the anti-superstar, reveling in disproving expectations. Sometimes it creates masterful works (“Blame Game”, “New Slaves”, dating Amber Rose). Sometimes it’s over-sensationalized crap (“Guilt Trip”, “Drunk and Hot Girls”, dating Kim Kardashian). His performance at the 2013 Video Music Awards teetered between both but completely went off the deep end when Kanye opted to have a shadowy image of himself flail around(often out of frame) as he performed Yeezus standout track “Blood on the Leaves”.

Cole’s “Power Trip”, A$AP Rocky’s “F*ckin’ Problems” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Swimming Pools”. After Drake’s priceless reaction to losing the award, Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert delivered a soul-stirring performance of “Same Love” which included an unexpected duet between Lambert and surprise guest Jennifer Hudson.
Brooklyn
The biggest winner of last night and the entire weekend was the borough of Brooklyn. Katy Perry performing under the Brooklyn Bridge was not only the culmination of the MTV Video Music Awards but also a grandiose send-off for a weekend that included Afropunk Festival and a plethora of pre-VMA parties.

The VMA’s weren’t the only one with performances last night. Nelly, Jim Jones, Pusha-T and Tiara Thomas all put on a show of their own as the partied the night away at Bamboo on South Beach.

(AllHipHopNews) The founders of one of the most progressive DJ clique’s in hip hop, the Aphiliates, DJ Drama, newly-named Def Jam VP- Don Cannon and DJ Sense have reunited to take over the music industry with their newest endeavor, The Academy.
Years ago, the trio relocated from Philadelphia to ATL where they attended Clark Atlanta University, and ultimately, became one of the most influential forces in new school hip-hop. As the Aphiliates, they were central in helping mixtapes become the #1 underground marketing tool in hip-hop. Their aggressive approach to mix tape promotion changed the game of music distribution, triggering new laws for music piracy.
Today, almost a decade later, the trio are reuniting to create the next generation of influential radio/club/promo DJs and music executives entitled The Academy. “With the Aphilliates we didn’t plan for that magic to happen that way, it just happened. We knew we had something special with the three of us, but there was a lot we didn’t know. We’ve learned a lot since then. We’ve all had successes outside of the collective, but there is strength in numbers, strength in collaborating so the time is right for us to do something on a bigger level with what we’ve accomplished,” says DJ Drama.
The Academy will be a complete multi-media conglomerate, with songwriters, producers, photographers and artists from various genres, being hand-picked for the exclusive membership. “We want to build something that can help the next generation. That’s our contribution back to what the culture gave us and what we got out of it,” Cannon explains.
The Academy will formally launch with an Inaugural Takeover that will begin on Monday September 9, 2013 with a private luncheon in Atlanta to introduce the new Academy members to media guests. The two-day series of events will also include a community service event at King Middle School with Drama, Don Cannon and Sense awarding 25 exemplary students from an Atlanta public school with a Young Men of Excellence Award. “DJs have always been the most influential figures in hip-hop, music period,” says DJ Sense. “We saw firsthand the influence we had with the artists we believed in and supported. With that much power, comes a lot of responsibility. We want to encourage young people to use their influence to have a positive impact on their communities.” The Academy takeover weekend will also include an ASCAP showcase featuring Jermaine Dupri, Migos, and August Alsina with AllHipHop.com as the exclusive media partner.

(AllHipHop News) Mims is most known for his smash hit “This is Why I’m Hot” but now the New York rapper is ready for his second act. In an interview with AHH, Mims talks opening up for Wu-Tang, working with Old Dirty Bastard and his favorite performers.
“You know obviously I’m a New Yorker at heart. Every aspect of New York is in me, it’s in my music. This is the music I grew up with the irony is that even though I had a lot of early commercial success , my stage performance and my background as a performer really comes from being on the road with the best MCs of all time , like the Method Mans a few members of the Wu Tang clan , just being able to watch these guys perform.”

(AllHipHop News) The O.G. west coast legend and the most eccentric pop superstar since Madonna somehow find themselves on a new record together for Lady Gaga’s upcoming album ARTPOP.
At the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards Lady Gaga revealed to Sway that Too $hort will appear on her upcoming album, ARTPOP. The collaboration apparently started from the Bay Area legend eavesdropping on a Skype conversation Gaga was having with producer DJ White Shadow whom $hort was in the studio with. $hort spoke with MTV about the formation of the as-of-yet untitled collaboration:
I was doing some songs last year with one her producers, DJ White Shadow. He’s been pretty busy, doing his thing around the world and he got back at me a little while ago and said, ‘There’s a song that Lady Gaga’s doing that possibly they would want to get you on’ … so I said, ‘s— I’m down with it!’
$hort also revealed that Gaga informed him that she plans to debut their collaboration during a live performance which Too $hort has confirmed he will be apart of. He also revealed that he is currently working on a house music project with DJ White Shadow.
ARTPOP is scheduled to be released on November 11th.
A$AP Rocky got into some sort of beef last night. But it wasn’t with any of the rappers, seems like A$AP couldn’t get along with security. For whatever reason A$AP wanted to leave and some burly security guard wouldn’t let him. It seems like A$AP was trying to be pretty cool since he was all dressed up with some fly chick. And then a security guard got in his face. A$AP wasn’t having any of that.
Seems like Lamar Odom’s drug addiction has finally broken his relationship with Khloe. According to the latest reports the reality couple has decided to split up, if anyone really cares. Lamar was a crackhead their entire marriage and Khloe supposedly hid it from the rest of the Kardashian’s so it wouldn’t ruin the Kardashian franchise. All I can say is maybe there’s a Kardashian curse on all the men they mess with. Good luck Yeezy.
US OPEN GOES HIP-HOP…KINDA
I found this crap on the Internet. At first I thought the US Open was really going to have a hip-hop song for their theme, since some jerk put out an official looking press release about it. But the whole thing was a stinking joke, and the US Open is not using a rap song for their theme. But whoever the jokers were, put out a relatively funny YouTube video. Check out this stupid video

With assistance from heavyweights like The Neptunes and Timbaland, Justin Timberlake created some of the most memorable music of his generation. And while Timberlake has provided plenty of soul, he also has embraced Hip-Hop with open arms. That may seem strange. But it worked; it worked really well making the 32-year-old a pop music icon.
In recognition of his career and all that his star power has brought to Hip-Hop (and vice versa), AllHipHop has created a list of Justin Timberlake’s 10 best Hip-Hop moments and collaborations. As awkward as they may be at times, it doesn’t make the fact that they are great any less true.
Justin Timberlake is from Memphis, Tennessee, and so it was only right that he do a record with fellow Memphis natives Three 6 Mafia. The collaboration was mutually beneficial too. It allowed Three 6 to capitalize on their recent Oscar win and added to the former Mouseketeer’s credibility in Hip-Hop. And while it does sound more like a song for strip club stages than dance floors, it’s still a bonafide hit as a result of the chopped and screwed chorus and Timbo beat.
For whatever reason, this single never made it into the Top 40. But the song is solid. It’s the first time Justin is heard saying the f-word on record, the funky/disco vibe is certainly reminiscent of the G-funk era, and Snoop is in his full-fledged player mode. The record is then further authenticated with an appearance by Charlie Wilson at the end of it. It’s three generations of male artists offering three different perspectives on romance at various stages of a relationship.
Timberlake was allegedly brought to the attention of the BEP through then new member Fergie. After hearing will.i.am’s instrumental, JT assisted in penning and performing the hook. For fear of overexposure at the time, Justin’s label didn’t allow him to appear in the video. However, that didn’t stop the song’s success. It helped put BEP on the map in the states, it was the highest-selling single in U.K. in 2003, and it is a major reason that Elephunk has sold a total of over 8 million copies.
This record is catchy and provided a place for all three performers to brag. With Nelly talking about her looks (“Love my a** and my abs in the video for ‘Promiscuous’”), Timbaland taking shots at Scott Storch (“I’m a real producer and you just a piano man), and Justin rapping and responding to Prince (“Now if se-sexy never left, then why’s everybody on my sh*-*-*t/Don’t hate on me just because you didn’t come up with it”), none of the three are short on confidence. And this song gave them one more reason to be cocky, it reached number 1 on the Billboard charts.
This live performance of “Young Forever” on the “Legends of the Summer” tour after the heart-breaking not guilty verdict of George Zimmerman was a powerful one. When Jay said, ““Let’s light the sky for Trayvon Martin tonight in here,” Yankee stadium immediately brightened up. And while Mr. Timberlake sang Mr. Hudson’s chorus and did it justice, he also added, “One time for Trayvon” as the crowd joined in on the chorus of the top ten single. It was the closing number for the show and surely left a lasting impression on all those in attendance.
Justin certainly earned acting and comedic chops on Saturday Night Live (i.e. “D**k in a Box”), and so it makes perfect sense that he would continue to hone those skills on an SNL alumni’s talk show. JF and JT run through decades of Hip-Hop hits with The Roots providing the music. It’s very entertaining, but doesn’t come across as disrespectful. If anything, it shows the power of Hip-Hop and its ability to bring people from all walks of life together. The bit was so successful they’ve done it four times (to date).
As the closing track to T.I.’s Paper Trail, “Dead and Gone” ends the already incredible album on a very high note. The song was such a highlight that it even landed on the Billboard charts before it was officially released as a single. It’s a hauntingly heartfelt record which also proved that JT’s hiatus between solo albums didn’t diminish his abilities whatsoever. And if the music video wasn’t proof positive enough, the live performance of it at the Grammy Awards silenced any remaining naysayers.
In one of the most powerful performances of his career, Justin provides the chorus to the opening song of Jay Z’s twelfth solo album. In an interview, Jay said, “This [“Holy Grail”] was the map for the album.” It is an epic opening to an ambitious album and neither disappoint. And to make it even more powerful, the song also interpolates a Nirvana lyric to assist in the depiction of fame’s instability. Obviously, there was even more to that music than what the Samsung commercial led people to believe.
At the 2002 Video Music Awards on MTV, Justin Timberlake delivered his first solo performance. With his Michael Jackson style apparel and dance moves there to accompany the guitar looping Neptunes instrumental, it was the perfect set-up for JT’s reintroduction. Later joined on stage by Clipse, it became clear that Justin’s interest in Hip-Hop was still there (Nelly appeared on a remixed version on NSYNC’s final single “Girlfriend”). However, on this go round, it wasn’t just a great pop song featuring two rap verses again, it was a genre-bending tour de force.
The way in which this track is structured around the stuttering synth sound with the beatbox in the back is astonishing. Easily, it is some of Timbaland’s best work behind the boards. Timberlake’s falsetto is spot-on and T.I.’s rap is a great closer to the song. The record is part ballad, part techno, and part Hip-Hop. No other piece on FutureSex/LoveSounds embodies that entire title better. And not surprisingly, “My Love” was a smash hit. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 in America and received worldwide success as well.

(AllHipHop News) The back-and-forth between Robin Thicke and the family of Marvin Gaye over the “Blurred Lines”/”Got To Give it Up” controversy takes another turn. Billboard is reporting that prior to Thicke filing a preemptive lawsuit over the matter, he offered the Gaye family a six figure settlement, but the offer was rejected.
Apparently, it was then that Thicke, along with fellow performers on “Blurred Lines” Pharrell Williams and Clifford “T.I.” Harris, filed the lawsuit asking a U.S. District Court judge to clear them of any possibility of being sued by the Gayes for copyright infringement.

The entire case stems from claims by the children of Marvin Gaye that Thicke’s summer smash too closely resembles Marvin’s classic “Got To Give it Up.” In a recent interview with TMZ, Marvin Gaye III said, “If you listen to the music, I’m sure anyone will see the similarities between what my father does and what Robin Thicke has been trying to do.”
