Guilty as charged!
I have heard that the music industry has formed a force field around Kendrick Lamar in the aftermath of his verse on Big Sean’s “Control.” You forgot that was Big Sean’s song, eh? Well, I am hearing that the “game” tried to stop the Joe Budden joint, but definitely prevented a Loso response. Seems like people up the chain want and need Kendrick to be successful at this time. Kendrick’s success now means success for a lot of people, even those that may want to battle him.

I have been told, several responses have been talked out of rappers or outright squashed to prevent friction. Who is doing the crushing of these higher profile replies? I’m hearing Interscope may be doing damage control.
Would Fav have anything for K-Dot if he did reply? He’s not exactly a battle-type MC even though he’ got punchlines historically. Anyway…yep. After Joe Budden, I don’t see a lot more high-profile responses coming…except one, which I will tell you about in a bit.

(AllHipHop News) Making the right decisions growing up in New York City is tough. Especially if you’re a “young n*gga getting it” as Harlem-native MC Bodega Bamz said he was to the sold out crowd for Cipha Sounds’ Take It Personal this past Friday (August 17th). At the Upright Citizens’ Brigade Theater, Bodega Bamz (accompanied by flag bearing “Tan Boys”) recalled a scary story of believing he contracted HIV from a w######### (which “G#####” is apparently slang for) on 155th St and Broadway.

Ahhhh…this stupid! I was perusing the IC today and saw an interesting thread called “Kanye West: The Movie.” The main imaged was of a dude that actually looked like Kanye West and so I decided to go deeper into it. But, it went in a different direction. Seems like some dudes got together and decided to do a comedy about Kanye West and his recent exploits in the media and life. I gotta admit, I was hoping for a real movie, but this made me chuckle and therefore I may watch it as long as its free. But, I have to admit, I thought somebody was going to do an unsolicited Kanye West movie. You know, at some point in the future, they are going to have actual movies on these rappers’ lives.

(AllHipHop News) Anthony Ryan Leslie’s decision to use a NYPD detective’s voicemail on his song “Joan of Arc” may land the singer/rapper in court. Detective Luis Mortimer is suing Leslie for violating his civil rights by including the message on the track according to the New York Post.
[ALSO READ: Ryan Leslie Ordered To Pay An Extra $180K Interest On $1 Million Laptop Reward]
The incident started when Leslie’s supermodel ex-girlfriend, Nicole Trunfio, called police in 2011 because Leslie allegedly would not stop calling her and knocking at her door.
Detective Mortimer left a voice message for Leslie asking him to contact the officer about the matter. That message was then added to “Joan or Arc”. Mortimer claims he did not find out that his voicemail message was sampled on the song until a few months ago.
“The song has caused him embarrassment and has damaged his credibility as a detective,” said Mortimer’s attorney Monica Kipiniak.
“[‘Joan of Arc’] is actually based on a personal experience that I went through over that week,” Leslie told MTV in 2011. “Maybe in certain moments in life you want to sing something. But when you’re upset sometimes or when you really want to get your point across, you don’t want to sing to someone, you want to directly let them know what’s going on and that’s what the ‘Joan of Arc’ record is about.”
The Mortimer/Leslie lawsuit was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court. Mortimer is seeking unspecified damages in the case.
