Slim Thug Goes On Pro-Rick Ross Twitter Rant

(AllHipHop News) After news broke that Reebok had dropped Rick Ross over his controversial date rape lyrics, Slim Thug took to twitter to defend his fellow rapper.

In a series of tweets that have since been deleted, Slim chastised people and corporations who judge rappers although they aren’t true Hip-Hop fans. He also spoke with it seems first-hand experience about the effects of molly on a woman.

“Damn haters won RT @TMZ: #Breaking Reebook Gives Rick Ross The Boot http://tmz.me/10RJbY2,” Thug tweeted April 11th.

“So why they don’t protest Eminem for all that crazy sh*t he be saying???”

Dee-1 has awakened the beast within hip hop since we last spoke! His interactive stage show has been taking crowds both by surprise and by storm. He just finished touring 50 cities with Macklemore and recently released another mixtape, entitled “Psalms Of David” once again proving that everyone sleeping on him had better set their alarms soon! AllHipHop.com got a chance to catch up with Dee-1 and see just what’s been goings on with one of New Orleans favorite sons!

AllHipHop.com: Thanks so much for taking a few moments out for us sir,You’ve had one heck of a year! What is one of the most important lessons that you’ve taken away from all your new experiences?

I’ve learned that you have to capitalize on the moment. Once this moment is gone, you can’t get it back, and you don’t want to be saying “I could have or should have” done something. I’ve also learned that success is a lifestyle, not just a singular act you accomplish in the booth or on stage. You have to practice being successful off the stage too, with the way you think and the way you treat people and make decisions.

AllHipHop.com: Since we spoke last, you’ve released the new mixtape Psalms Of David, what was the premise behind putting together the mixtape and who did you work with on it?

I put it out the day before I went on tour with my patna Lecrae. I just wanted to have some new music out there for my fans. I had just come off tour with Macklemore and I had dropped “The Focus Tape” with Mannie Fresh the day before that tour started, so I wanted to do that again. Drop a new project right before my tour starts. My first name is David, and David wrote many of the Psalms in the bible. And my songs are all written to motivate my listeners and tell stories, so I went with the title “Psalms of David.” It’s been my biggest mixtape to date. It features production from Flight School, 5th Child, Rockaway, Phurnace, J Kits, and more.

AllHipHop.com: How have you evolved as an artist on this new project?

This project is me embracing the fact that God is the foundation for my whole life as well as my music. I’m a rapper and a God fearing man, two separate things, but not one without the other. And when I combine that to make songs, it makes for something special. My music doesn’t sound like anything else out.

AllHipHop.com: What do you hope that this new music reflects to the listener?

I want the listener to get motivated to live their life to the fullest. I want my music to reflect that it ain’t easy, but it’s a never-ending battle that’s worth it. Because overall, life is good.

AllHipHop.com: What is one thing the fans don’t know about you that you wish they did?

That I got next.

AllHipHop.com: Can you give us 4 words that describes your stage show?

“That boy a beast!”

AllHipHop.com: What’s going on with you right now? Who are you working with and what can we expect?

I’m finishing up “Psalms of David” Vol 2, gonna drop that late April/early May. And I’m about to drop a bunch of music videos.

Apparently, Army Strong was honest in his money dealings, because dude is reportedly BROKE! He didn’t tuck anything away. I mean, it makes sense. He was making so much money from his company and all the endorsements and probably brought assets accordingly. And, with those streams of money all dried up, he’s going down fast. The latest is that he’s sold his home, valued at $10 million… for $3 million. I’ve got no mercy. My home is worth a pair of Jordans.

L.A.’s Classic Hip-Hop Station KDAY Could Be Facing Format Change

(AllHipHop News) Listeners of 93.5 KDAY in Los Angeles are not pleased with a suspected programming change set to come. With the proposed sale of KDAY by Magic Broadcasting to RBC Communications for $19.5 million, the station is reportedly switching from a classic Hip-Hop and R&B format to Chinese language talk radio according to nbclosangeles.com.

The KDAY call letters have a long history in the L.A./Redondo Beach area. The original KDAY 1580 AM was actually the first station in the country to play Hip-Hop exclusively. KDAY also helped launch the careers of West Coast rap acts like N.W.A.

As of yet the sale is not final. It still must be approved by the FCC which may mean that RBC will not take over KDAY for another 4 months at the earliest. There is also an ongoing legal matter concerning Magic Broadcasting.

A previous attempt to sell the station to SoCal935 for $35 million in 2010 fell through supposedly because there was still pending ligation involving Magic owner Don McCoy and creditor/license holder Durden Enterprises.

Radioinsight.com reports that McCoy is quoted saying, “I don’t understand [why] someone would buy a station with a stockholder lawsuit filed against it. It will be interesting to see what happens.”

There have not been any formal public statements about a format change at KDAY from any of the parties involved.

In February, KDAY’s ratings put the station in a tie for 29th place in its market.

Raekwon is the man from the Clan, but I got a tidbit that he’s got a new business venture that’s really cool. The Wu General posted a picture saying, “Into the furniture business, Wu desk.”

I’m thinking this is going to be a success, because I would definitely put this in my house. I’m only hoping that the cost is not too much of a head crack.

It looks pretty pricey.

DAMN! DAMN DASH DOING JUST GREAT?

A lot of people were laughing the other day at the interview Dame Dash did, where he sent a dagger Jay-Z’s way. He kind of clowned Jay for still being into Hip-Hop in his 40s. So, people he something to say about him. BUT, I’m hearing that Dame Dash is now about to make a dream come to reality with “Dash Motor Oil” and “Dash Motors.” Now well over a year ago, there were these reports and it seemed like this venture was just another headline. But it seems like its true! If so, Dame is about to be caked up again. Quiet as kept, I heard he and Jim Jones are making a lot of money together!

2Pac Inspired Musical Closer To Heading To The Stage

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop icon Tupac Shakur’s work has inspired cover songs, books, and university courses, and now the late emcee’s music will serve as the basis for the upcoming play, Holler If Ya Hear Me , by celebrated Broadway director Kenny Leon.

The title was taken from the 2Pac song of the same name off his sophomore album Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. The musical features a book by Todd Kreidler and choreography by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento.

Leon’s Holler If Ya Hear Me is the story of two childhood friends and their associates as they try to overcome the struggles of life in the inner-city.

“The idea was always to make a musical inspired by his music and not to do an autobiographical approach to his life or anything like that,” Leon told NPR in 2011. “And because I always thought that Tupac was a prophet and I thought if everybody could hear his words and hear his stories, they would see what I see.”

Leon came to prominence in the theater world for directing a revival of A Raisin in the Sun that starred Sean “Diddy” Combs and Phylicia Rashād. He also directed Denzel Washington and Viola Davis to Tony Award wins in August Wilson’s Fences.

He recently helmed Lifetime Network’s all African-American rendition of Steel Magnolias featuring Rashād, Queen Latifah, and Alfre Woodard.

According Broadwayworld.com, The Clark Atlanta University graduate will be directing a five-week summer developmental workshop of Holler If Ya Hear Me in New York running from June 3rd – July 7.

Holler If Ya Hear Me has been in development for several years, but with Leon, Kreidler, and Cilento conducting an informal run through this summer, 2Pac and Broadway fans may not have to wait much longer to experience the Hip-Hop musical.

Fabolous Reveals Release Date & Features For ‘Loso’s Way 2’

(AllHipHop News) New York emcee Fabolous is ready to return with his new album, Loso’s Way 2: Rise to Power, on June 18th.

Fabolous made the announcement while visiting BET”s 106 & Park. He stopped by the video countdown show to world premiere the visual for his Chris Brown-assisted single “Ready.”

“I think I want to come with June 18th,” said the Brooklyn emcee. “Be on the lookout for another record or two to come before that. We gonna put out some more music, and ‘Ready’ was just to get y’all ready.”

Fab and Chris traveled to the Caribbean nation of the Dominican Republic to film the “Ready” video.

“I wanted to go some place different than the typical places that you shoot videos at, and the D.R. welcomed us with open arms,” Fabolous tells hosts Bow Wow and Paigion.

Fab also revealed that he has recorded tracks with Trey Songz, Rick Ross, Future, Young Jeezy, and others for LW2.

Loso’s Way 2 will be Fab’s 6th studio album. The LP is the sequel to his 2009 number 1 album. He released the The S.O.U.L. Tape 2 mixtape last November.

More Details Emerge of Lil Wayne/Trick Daddy Incident At KODs

(AllHipHop News) Rumors have been flying the last few days of an alleged fight that took place between Lil Wayne and Trick Daddy at the King of Diamonds strip club in Miami.

TMZ is now reporting that Wayne and Trick never actually confronted each other face-to-face, but apparently someone from TD’s crew did throw a lit cigarette at the YMCMB rapper.

Wayne was at the night spot with his friend Young Money President Mack Maine. At some point in the night Wayne and Mack decided to leave the club, and as the two were exiting they were confronted by members of Trick’s entourage.

After Wayne was hit with the cigarette, King of Diamonds security stepped in before the situation could escalate. It appears that Trick Daddy was not present in the area where the scuffle was happening.

“It’s sad they had to revisit a situation that was Internet beef … while surrounded by naked girls,” a representative from King of Diamonds told TMZ.

The incident seems to be an extension of the ongoing beef several Miami area rappers have taken up with Wayne after his onstage rant against the Miami Heat basketball team during NBA All-Star Weekend in February.

“If anybody don’t like it they can die tonight,” stated Tricky Daddy after Wayne’s Heat comments surfaced. “I don’t care who be offended by what I say. I rep my city and want nobody disrespecting.

Miami performers Uncle Luke and Pitbull also addressed what they felt was Wayne’s disrespect toward their hometown. Up-and-coming local rapper LMS even released a Lil Wayne diss track entitled “No Jeggings.”

Lil Wayne did apologize to the city of Miami and LeBron James though he refused to offer any remorse for his public announcement that he slept with Chris Bosh’s wife.

As of yet, Wayne has not made a statement about the King of Diamonds incident.

Thirdly, we don’t know what is going on with her and Kanye. I have to admit, it FEELS like there is something going on and the rumors are persisting. I think maybe Ye is just getting his Zen right.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Lil Waynes New Beef: WITH A PITBULL OF A LAWYER!

David Goldstein says Lil Wayne owes him a lot of money and he plans to get it by any means. Last month, a court awarded Goldstein $1.2 million in legal fees for his client, Quincy Jones III, who won a judgment of $2.2 million in a dispute over a documentary. According to gossipextra.com, Goldstein has his eyes on seizing a number of Wayne’s expensive material items in order to settle the debt. In order to do so, Goldstein intends to move the judgement to Florida, per Miami-Dade County records. This is where he can get busy on all of Lil Wayne’s stuff like his $11 million mansion and that Bugatti! The car is valued at $2 million, b. Remember, in November QD3 beat Wayne in court and the judgement kicked in – a total of $3.4 a-milli. That’s nothing to YMCMB.
