She crooned, “Obama’s on fire!” to the tune of her song “Girl On Fire” before a large group of Barack Obama supporters.
And, the New York-bred songstress set the tone for an evening of celebration for the 44th president’s second inauguration.
“He’s got both feet on the ground, and he’s not backing down,” Keys continued, “[he’s] filled with catastrophe and knows he can find a way.”
Stevie Wonder, Brad Paisley, Maná, fun, John Legend and DJ D-Nice joined in the entertainment to the satisfaction of the ball attendees.
Stevie also altered certain hit records and tailored them to the occasion. He also sang his ode to Martin Luther King, Jr., “Happy Birthday.”
Later on, Obama and the First Lady were serenaded by Jennifer Hudson as they slow danced before the audience.
The pair seemed to genuinely enjoy the moment as they took in a rendition of Al Green’s “Lets Stay Together.” Towards the end of the evening, actor Jamie Foxx would sing for vice-president Joe Bidden and his wife, Jill.
D-Nice kept the party jumping with a very eclectic mixture of songs from different eras of pop, soul, Hip-Hop and R&B.
According to reports, another event is slated for Tuesday, which will feature the likes of Lady Gaga and Jay-Z.
Roughly 800,000 people descended on Washington DC to see Barack Obama sworn in as president for a second four-year term.
Look. This is crazy. Even though Yeezy has a penchant for the eccentric that doesn’t make him homosexual. On Twitter, anybody can say anything and it fly. Well, here is the latest. Some dude named Bryanboy goes off on Twitter and says that Kanye had a gay affair but here is the catch. This dude works on America’s Next Top Model. Does this make him more credible? No. But it does separate him from being a total slanderous bum, unless of course this is pure slander. In that case, Kanye should sue!
Here is what he said about Kanye:

There is no proof at all, not that we want that.
He kind of slick talked around it so its not full legal slander. But, I suspect a lawsuit would get him in line.

I knew this Love & Hip-Hop stuff would take a wrong turn!
Pusha-T has already declared war on The Cons for saying slick stuff about Kanye Da Boss. Basically, I exercised my right to take a break over the MLK holiday weekend and this is what happens.
Pusha got a hilarious sense of humor though.
Peep this tweet.

Damn…these dudes used to be Grammy family…
You probably heard even though I just heard, but Cons did an interview with Power 105 and they gave him a platform talk ill of Ye and Q-Tip.
They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry! -illseed.

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta Hip Hop Sensation Cash Out took a moment to sit down for an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, while recording his debut album “Patience.”
The Atlanta rapper has been in various Miami recording studios, working with a number of producers and artists in the game, to craft his major label debut.
“The grind coming up was staying out of trouble,” Cash Out told AllHipHop.com of his time spent honing his skills. “I knew I had to get my ish together, it was about going in. ‘Its My Time’ and ‘Cashin’ Out’ was bubbling before we got signed to Epic. We was going hard and we still is…Epic is going to do their part too.”
He also explained the sudden success of his hit single “Cashin’ Out,” which peaked at #1 on Billboard’s rap chart.

(AllHipHop News) Last night (January 20), Lupe Fiasco was removed from the stage at Sunday’s StartUp RockOn concert at the Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C., as part of the weekend’s inaugural festivities.
In an anti-Obama performance, Lupe Fiasco performed his 2011 track “Words I Never Said,” in what has been described was a 30 min rant.
Taking his stance on the United States and Israeli conflict, and stating that Glenn Back and Rush Limbaugh were racists, Lupe ripped President Obama for what he viewed as a lack of support for the Gaza strip and other issues close to his heart.
“And these the same people supposedly telling us the truth/ Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn beck is a racist, Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say sh–/ That’s why I ain’t vote for him, next one either/ I’m part of the problem, my problem is I’m peaceful,” Lupe rapped.
While many have speculated that Lupe was kicked off the stage for his political beliefs, in a statement released by HyperVocal, the event’s organizers say they were dissatisfied with his overall performance and that it was time for the next act.
“This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act,” HyperVocal said in a statement to the press.
Lupe is well-known to be outspoken with his political beliefs, as Lupe has been quoted in the past stating that he refuses to pledge allegiance to the United States flag due to his belief that it goes against the Muslim faith.
In the past Lupe Fiasco has even gone as far as to call President Barack Obama a terrorist and refused to vote in last November’s elections.
(AllHipHop News) Last night at the world famous S.O.B.’s, Brooklyn’s finest Talib Kweli delivered a powerful performance in front of a sold out crowd.
Surrounded by a live band, Kweli dedicated the concert to the lives and memories of Civil Rights revolutionaries, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Gil Scott-Heron.
Kweli was proud to carry on the tradition Scott-Heron set forth in celebrating the memory of Dr. King, by celebrating them both.
Opening acts Cory Mo. and Kris Kasanova held their own in front of packed crowd.
Setting the stage for Kweli to make his entrance. Everybody went crazy for Jay-Z’s favorite rapper. The drummer clicked his sticks four times, then Kweli stormed into new and classic hits with a technicians’ flare.
A crowd full of Hip-Hop heads sung along to every lyric, participated in hooks and kept their hands where he could see them. Clearly, the energy was of soul music… not pole music.
After an hour of reigning supreme, Kweli closed the show with his 2002 critically acclaimed hit ‘Get By’.
However, he couldn’t get by AllHipHop.com backstage for three questions.
AllHipHop.com: Talk about your history here at S.O.B.’s.
Talib Kweli: The first time I came here (S.O.B.’s), ever, was to see Gil Scott-Heron perform when I was fourteen years old. It’s a beautiful thing to continue on his tradition. The first time I performed here was Lyricist Lounge. Q-Tip was hosting. It was me and Rah Digga, as well as Young Zee.
One of my favorite works from Gil Scott-Heron is “The Spirit”. Tell us one of your favorite works.
My favorite Gil Scott-Heron piece is “Rivers of my Fathers”.
Can we expect a new album from you in 2013?
Definitely, there’s a new album on the way. Javotti Media is the label. The title is “Prisoner of Conscious”. I’m looking for to what this year holds.
Outside of Mos Def, who would you like to see Talib Kweli collaborate on an album with?

(AllHipHop News) When President Obama is ceremonially sworn into office tomorrow (January 21) in Washington D.C., he will use two bibles.
One bible is the bible that Martin Luther King Jr. owned and traveled with, and the other bible will be a bible owned by 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, which was used during his first inaugural ceremony.
Dr. King’s Bible is the same Bible used when Dr. King gave his first sermon at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in 1950.
It is also the same traveling Bible that Dr. King actually used just before he was assassinated in 1968.
Tomorrow when he is sworn into office, Obama will face the Lincoln Memorial where Dr. King delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech 50 years ago.
“We know our father would be deeply moved to see President Obama take the oath of office using his Bible,” King’s children said in a statement provided by the inaugural committee. “His traveling Bible inspired him as he fought for freedom, justice and equality, and we hope it can be a source of strength for the president as he begins his second term.”
The theme of this year’s inauguration is “Our People, Our Future,” and it is believed that as many as 800,000 people will be on hand for the celebration that will ceremoniously swear Obama into office.
Earlier today, Obama was officially sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts, in a small ceremony in the Blue room of the White House using Michelle Obama’s family Bible.
Based on the Constitution’s 20th amendment, Obama’s first term officially ended at noon Sunday and his second begins subsequently there after.
“Two figures that I admire probably more than anyone in American history are Dr. King and President Lincoln. So for me to have the opportunity to be sworn in using the Blbles of these two men that I admire so deeply on the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of the ‘March on Washington’ is I think fitting because their actions and I think the movements that they represent are the only reason its possible for me to inaugurated,” Obama explained in an official inaugural video preview.
Rappers from across the industry have weighed in on the historical significance of the inaugural ceremony and its activities as well.
“Obama got inauguration weekend feeling like All Star weekend, DC is turnt up!” Talib Kweli said via Twitter.
“”No matter what you want to do in your future, you have to WORK for it, train for it & learn for it” Barack Obama #letswin!” and inspired CTE’s Tone Trump said via Twitter.
“Good Sunday Morning To One And All.Special Shout Out, All The Folks In DC To Witness President Obama Putting Hand On Bibles Of Lincoln/King,” Spike Lee said.
