Chino XL Announces 35-Track Release "RICANstruction: The Black Rosary"

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Chino XL has announced the release date for RICANstruction: The Black Rosary, his first album in over six years.

RICANstruction will be a double-CD release that is being released by Viper Records, the label that is owned by Immortal Technique.

Immortal Technique is one of the guests who appear on the 35-track effort, while rappers/artists like Travis Barker, Bun B, Tech N9ne and B Real round out the album.

According to Chino, RICANstruction is his most introspective work-to-date, delving into serious matters like the abuse he suffered as a child, failed relationships, suicide and his daughter’s battle with cancer.

“It’s a complete unbottling of a lot of stuff, things that I probably had suppressed,” Chino XL explained. “The human psyche has the ability and the power to do that in order to keep it functioning. I felt that it was time to let most of it out so I could move on and get past some of those issues. Whilst on tour last year, I realized how many people I connected to when I expressed a lot of those more painful, emotional songs. It seemed like a lot of folks really needed to hear them. I can learn from that to help them relate so they can also get past what they had going on. I realized that’s part of my journey.”

Chino hopes the main focus of RICANstruction will be what he has become famous for – complex lyrics and rhyme patterns.

“I believe that it’s my contribution to the art form, to art in general and to music,” Chino XL continued. “I feel like if you’re not going to try to raise the bar, then what are you doing it for? I try to do it because I feel like that’s part of my blessing and to share my blessing, I have to propel the art form and push the boundaries of language.”

RICANstruction: The Black Rosary is due in stores on September 25.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Beats By Dre Coming Out With An iPhone Killer?

Rumors are swirling that Beats Electronics, the company owned by Dr. Dre and Interscope big wig, Jimmy Iovine, are creating a smart phone that will rival the heralded iPhone – but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Beats is allegedly going head-to-head with Apple’s product portfolio and plans to launch their own TV with Beats, a service similar to Apple TV, and “Daisy,” a service that will work similar to iTunes.

According to Boy Genius Report, Beats has partnered up with Samsung to create a “TV with Beats connect” that will work integrate seamlessly with their other products, similar to Apple products.

The new products are still in the planning stages, but the specs are done. Dr. Dre is getting that paper! I just hope they don’t charge an arm and a leg for the phone. Do you think any of Apple’s loyal customers will be making the switch to Beats?

Police Urge The Cancellation of DMX Show In New England Over Concerns Of Violence

(AllHipHop News) A concert featuring superstar rapper DMX has been canceled at the urging of police in New England, over concerns of violence.

DMX was supposed to hit the stage at Whites of Westport on September 7, but a number of incidents in the area moved police to urge Whites, as well as the local promoter Hurricane Promotions, to cancel the concert.

“This cancellation is very unfortunate. DMX loves to perform for his his fans and hates to have to reschedule his shows. However, we are still taking bookings and are hoping to create a national tour this Fall,” Domenick Nati, of Nati Celebrity Services told AllHipHop.com.

Two men were shot – one fatally – at a Providence nightclub over the weekend, while a show featuring Philadelphia rapper Cassidy ended in brawls early Friday morning (August 24).

“Local law enforcement strongly advised us against doing this,” White’s VP Chris Lafrance told The Herald News. “We’ll regroup, maybe find some acts that fit a little better for the venue.”

Hurricane Promotions’ Michael Herren said that he had a security plan in place for the DMX concert and didn’t expect any issues, despite the violence last weekend.

“Unfortunately when people talk about gun violence, rap music is often intertwined,” Herren told The Herald News.

In addition to White’s own in-house security, ten state police were slated to be stationed around the venue, which can hold around 1,500 people.

Several hundred tickets had already been sold at $33 a-piece. Those fans who paid in advance can receive a full refund from Whites.

Heralded by Mayor Annise Parker for his commitment to community service, Bun B will be celebrating the honor bestowed upon him, with a special food drive for the Houston Food Bank on Thursday (August 30) from 4-7 p.m. at the Food Bank’s headquarters.

During the food drive, Bun B will meet and greet fans and thank them for making donations of non-perishable food items and money to help feed fellow Houston residents.

“To be honored with my own day by Mayor Parker and the Council is something I don’t take lightly,” Bun B told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “It is my hope that the day becomes synonymous with honor, good will, and helping one’s fellow-man. Partnering with the Houston Food Bank is the first step. Join us in our effort to begin a new tradition of unity in the human community on August 30!”

Bun B’s event is set to kick off just a few days before the start of Hunger Action Month, a push by food banks and hunger relief agencies across the country, with the aim of getting celebrities, school children and other members of society to help fight hunger in their community.

In Houston, the theme for the month is “Hunger Bites, Bites Back,” which has a double meaning.

The meaning behind the slogan stems from the fact that one, hunger is a bad thing; two, that it has a painful, biting effect on those who suffer from it; and that we as citizens can all “bite back,” by taking action to help those in need.

The Houston Food Bank is the nation’s largest sized Feeding America food bank and source of food for hunger relief charities in 18 southeast Texas counties.

They have been named one of 10 Top-Notch Charities across the nation by Charity Navigator for maintaining a network of nearly 500 food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers and other agencies, feeding a total of 137,000 people each week.

The Houston Food Bank also provides more than 50 million nutritious meals annually.

For those attending as volunteers, the Houston Food Bank has asked that all photos be Tweeted and information about the event hashtagged using #BunBHFB.

Steve Stoute, Director Ron Howard Discuss Jay-Z's Vision For "Made In America" Film

(AllHipHop News) Advertising/marketing mogul Steve Stoute and directors Ron Howard and Brian Grazer recently discussed their vision for the “Budweiser Made in America” film, which they are producing and directing in conjunction with rapper Jay-Z.

Jay-Z and Paul Chibe, Anheuser-Busch’s VP of Marketing in the United States, are executive producing a film based on the “Budweiser Made in America” music festival, which will take place this Labor Day weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Acts like Pearl Jam, Rick Ross, Odd Future, Drake and other will be on hand to perform at the concert, which also includes the historic reunion of seminal rap group Run-DMC.

Steve Stoute and @radical.media are producing, while Ron Howard and Brian Grazer will direct the film, which Ron Howard said would not be a concert film, as one might expect.

“This will not be a concert film,” director Ron Howard revealed to AllHipHop.com in a statement. “It’s a reflection of the fabric of what it means to be Made in America – what the festival represents, why Jay is doing it and how he relates to each artist,” said Howard.

Co-director Brian Grazer further elaborated on the “Budweiser Made in America” film concept, stating that the movie would focus on Jay-Z and the inner-workings that go in to producing an event as large as the Made In America Festival.

It’s no small undertaking, as the two-day event is expected to draw over 50,000 people at $100 a ticket, to the Parkway in Philadelphia.

“The film is going to be born through Jay-Z’s perspective,” Grazer revealed. “How he puts the event together and creates this musical event that defies all genres. We will hone in on the meaning of the festival and how Jay-Z has become a voice and icon for this generation.”

“Made in America is the soundtrack to pursuing your passion, excelling at your craft, being authentic and embracing cultural diversity,” Steve Stoute told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “It’s the tapestry that ignites new ideas and brings us all closer together. That’s what we’re setting out to accomplish with this festival and film and we’re proud to have an iconic American brand like Budweiser as our partner who truly stands for what it means to be Made in America.”

The “Budweiser Made In America” film will be released in 2013.

Daily Word: Start With The Man In The Mirror!!!

Happy Wins-Day, my agents of Change!

Welcome to the day you take responsibility for your world! Today marks the 54th birthday of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson! As we commemorate this special day, we are dedicating today’s Daily Word to the man/woman in the mirror!

Michael Jackson was an international star who had substance in his music. From popular songs about race relations, to songs about world hunger, Mr. Jackson used his platform to make a change in the world. “Man in the Mirror” was no different. If you listen to the lyrics, it is a plea for everyone who wants to see the world change for the better to begin with themselves!

Many times, we hear people complain about how crazy the world is and how much bad other folks are doing, but if everyone who had time to complain stopped and looked in the mirror to ask themselves what are they doing to make it better, then we would begin to see change immediately! Do not become the spectator who is simply talking about the game; become a player who can affect which direction the game goes!

Logic, the English language, and the dictionary may say something else but Change starts with U (You… Get it… Never-mind… lol). Effective immediately, you need to begin to look at the person in the mirror, and ask him/her what is he/she doing to make them and the world better! If you are not comfortable with the answer, make sure you change immediately! It’s never too late to live the life that you expected! It starts today! It starts with YOU!!!
