Hip-Hop Rumors: Did Kanye West Get Boo’ed On Stage??!!

Kanye West was reportedly45 minutes late to his performance at the Big Day Out concert in Australia last night, which caused the crowd to boo him when he finally hit the stage. Ye’ blamed his lateness on the rain, which caused the crowd to chant, “Bullsh*t!”

Um, haven’t they heard Kanye’s mantra, “You should be honored by my lateness/that I would even show up to this fake s###!” ??

In related news,  Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell wasn’t impressed when a soundcheck of West’s upcoming set at the main stage could be heard in between Soundgarden songs, and the rock band’s fans started booing.

“Sounds like there’s children playing music there, retarded children, retarded as in held back. There’s no other word for it,” Cornell told the crowd.

What a hater!!!! Go get a hair cut dude! You’re washed up!

Rev. Jesse Jackson, Wall Street Summit Panelists To “Occupy Hip-Hop” in NYC

(AllHipHop News) In the past several months, America’s “Occupy Wall Street” movement has expanded golobally, and now, into specific sectors and communities, such as the homeless and the disenfranchised Hip-Hop communities. At Occupy demonstrations, the so-called “The 99%” have been vocal about the unfair corporate and government policies they say have yielded mass joblessness and poverty, along with inadequate healthcare and education.

Within the Hip-Hop community, artists and pundits have joined the conversation, with many taking to New York City’s Wall Street in recent months to show their solidarity with everyday citizens. Russell Simmons, Kanye West, and Lupe Fiasco are just a few of the celebrities who have joined the cause.

Later this week, longtime civil and human rights leader, Rev. Jesse Jackson, will show his support by hosting “Occupy Hip Hop New York,” a discussion that will bring together a “Power Panel” from the music, broadcast, and education sectors for what leaders are calling “a Conversation, a Pledge, and a Plan.”

“All that we have gained in recent years has been attacked,” Rev. Jackson told AllHipHop.com in an exclusive, pre-event interview. “We have to protect ourselves from the tyranny of the majority.”

The January 26 event is part of Rev. Jackson’s 15th Annual Rainbow PUSH Wall Street Project Economic Summit, and includes speakers such as author/Georgetown University scholar Michael Eric Dyson; Hip-Hop journalists and pundits, Chuck Creekmur of AllHipHop.com and Davey D, rapper Master P, politician/activist Adam Clayton Powell IV, and others. There will also be musical performances and workshops throughout the overall three-day summit.

With regards to the Hip-Hop community’s seeming lack of enthusiasm for voting in the 2012 Election, Rev. Jackson said, “To not vote in 2012 is to vote for [Newt] Gingrich, [Mitt] Romney, or someone else who has no regard for civil rights, and no commitment to us.

“When we vote, things tend to come out right,” he added. “No one cares enough to put air in our ball now. Dr. King’s last act on earth was to ‘occupy’ on behalf of the workers he was speaking out for. Now, we need to ‘occupy the streets’ for access to education, healthcare, and more…we have big work to do.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Lil’ Webbie Being Accused of Murder??!!!

This is a pretty shaky rumor, being that it comes from the folks over at Media TakeOut.com, so take this one with a grain of salt. The online gossip rag is reporting that Alabama police are currently investigating southern rapper Lil’ Webbie for murder! Below is what they’re saying:

According to a TOP SNITCH, a man was MURDERED outside CLUB PRIMETIME, at a WEBBY concert held at the Dothan, Al club. According to reports, a fight popped off INSIDE THE CLUB and spilled outside, where the victim was shot and killed.

According to MediaTakeOut.com’s insider police SPOKE TO WITNESSES and that led them to CALL IN WEBBY FOR QUESTIONING . . . at the COUNTY JAIL. It’s not clear whether Webby was ever allowed to leave.  Developing . . .

We’ll let you know if we hear anything else regarding this rumor. For Webbie’s sake, I hope its not true….we definitely don’t want another Lil’ Boosie situation on our hands.

And, as a Black man in America, he knows that the odds are stacked high against his community and the students he tried to reach.

In 2012, Dee-1 and others like him are committing their names and voices to help mobilize urban young people to exercise one of their most precious rights – the right to VOTE. On the eve of #Barack Talk, a State of the Union watch party and discussion event in Washington, D.C., panelist Dee-1 recorded this video message to help spread the word about why casting your ballot still matters:

Sundance Film Fest Documentary Inspires New Song From Mary J. Blige

(AllHipHop News) A new documentary at this year’s Sundance Film Festival will receive a well-known co-sign, courtesy of Hip-Hop Soul queen, Mary J. Blige.

The Associated Press reports the singer is lending her support to The Invisible War, a documentary that examines the trauma suffered by female and male victims of rape at the hands of their military colleagues and the difficulty they have in prosecuting their attackers. Blige was on hand Friday (January 20) for the film’s premiere at Sundance.

Amy Ziering, the film’s producer, confirmed Blige’s involvement, telling the AP that the vocalist would write an original song for the film after the Sundance festival. The new song will join another tune from the Grammy winner, “Need Someone,” which is featured in the closing credits of The Invisible War.

“Need Someone” is taken from Blige’s latest album, My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1).

News of Blige’s original song marks the latest soundtrack entry for the songstress, who was recently nominated for a Golden Globe award for her song, “The Living Proof.” The Underdogs-produced track is included in the film, The Help.
