Hip-Hop Rumors: T.I. “Wants Out” Of The Rap Game

T.I. is not feeling the state of Hip-Hop right now, and has said in a recent interview with Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club”, that he is contemplating leaving the rap game. Check out what he said below:

“This is what everyone fails to realize. I want out. I want out, man. What the game is going to and what has evolved into from a personality standpoint, it goes against what I represent. What I embody, this game contradicts that. I want out. I’m in it because I love music and I have obligations, contractually.”

“It was at one time, this music was about speaking to the people who felt like you feel. Now, the people I’m speaking to, they don’t necessarily feel like how I feel. In my day, if you were rapping about something you weren’t really living, that was a strike against you. You were held accountable. Nowadays, nobody even expects you to live up to the things you rap about. That goes against what I represent, what I stand for. So if they outsell me, then that’s just all the more better for me to fade to the back and cross my legs on my desk.”

RECAP: Lil’ Kim Brings Out Missy Elliott, Eve, Juelz Santana and Fred Da Godson At Her Bronx Concert

(AllHipHop News) Lil’ Kim, the Queen Bee, held her first hometown show at the Paradise Theater in the Bronx, New York. over the weekend as part of her “The Return Of The Queen” tour.  The show got off to an exciting start, with Saigon, Papoose Shyheim and Cassidy opening up for the Queen Bee, and Mobb Wives reality show star Drita D’Avanzo hosting. The opening acts did a great job at getting the audience turned up and ready for Kim. Throughout the one hour-long set, Lil’ Kim brought out surprise guests Missy Elliott, Eve, Juelz Santana, and Fred Da Godson, and ran through some of her most notable hits.

Kim hit the stage dressed to kill in a red military inspired jacket with a tan body suit underneath and a full band backing her up. She began her set with the twista-esque “Queen B####”, then performed with a vengeance, and even kicked a few dance moves with her backup dancers, nailing the choreography. Kimmy Blanco then ran through a catalog of her 2000s hits, including “The Jump Off”, “Big Mama Thing”, “Magic Stick” and “Lighters Up”.

One of the biggest moments during the show was when Lil’ Kim brought out Missy Elliott and Eve to perform the “Hot Boyz (Remix)”. The crowd was entranced, seeing what could truly be a momentous moment in Hip-Hop – one that could possibly start a unity among the female rappers of our time.

Lil’ Kim closed out the show spitting verses from her features on two classics – Mobb Deep’s “The Quiet Storm” and Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s “Get Money (Remix)”.  Although a few of the costume changes slowed down the momentum at times, Lil’ Kim did a great job at showing the crowd she still has what it takes to compete with the younger female rappers out there.  And no, there was not one mention of a certain Ms. Nicki Minaj.

Check out the video below to watch some clips from Lil’ Kim’s “The Return Of The Queen” stop in the Bronx:

Hip-Hop Rumors: Lil’ Kim and Charli Baltimore Come Face To Face

Lil’ Kim and rapper Charli Baltimore recently came face to face with one another at the HOT 97 studio in New York City. The two were at the radio station for separate interview opportunities and were allegedly left together in an artist waiting area. Back in the 90’s, Charli and Lil’ Kim both famously dated the Notorious B.I.G., and earlier this year, Charli was very outspoken about Kim not being Biggie’s girlfriend but only a side thing. Check out what she said below:

“Kim goes out of her [Faith Evans] way to say she was B.I.G.’s girl. No, Kim wasn’t his girl! Straight up! She wasn’t! She benefited from the situation because she became Lil Kim. She has a career, and she’s grateful to a n*gga for helping her in that aspect, but she was never his girl!”

Anyway, our source tells us that the two ladies sat in the waiting room together at the radio station and completely ignored one another. Lil’ Kim sat in her part of the room with her crew, and Charli on the other. It must have a been a tense and unexpected meeting. I’m glad cooler heads prevailed, and nothing heated went down.

FASHION FORWARD: Matrimoney Clothing is Married to the Millions

Fashion and Hip-Hop are not quite siblings, but more like very close cousins. Together, the bond is unbreakable. Even far apart, one still finds a way to influence the other.

AllHipHop.com goes “Fashion Forward” to keep you up on the latest rockable gear:

As the Summer time rolls around everyone wants to make sure they got their gear right. A dope T-shirt and a snapback for the fellas, maybe some nice kicks.  For the ladies with some cute shorts and a tank, you can’t go wrong. Maybe a sundress? I’m just saying… I always liked them. Either way, warm weather, the beach, sippin’ on something tropical (or smokin’ on that fruity)… gotta love summer.

But, no summer would be complete without us co-signing some more gear we think is dope. Over the next few weeks, AllHipHop.com will be showcase several clothing companies that have hot gear for the summer, so you can show off those muscles or that body that you been working on all winter… or not. No matter what, “We’re so proud of you,” as Drake reminds.

To kick things off in the South, we look at the Dallas, Texas-based clothing company, Matrimoney, that seems to be popping up everywhere. From The Game to Curren$y to Mac Miller to Chiddy Bang to Killa Kyleon, and Dorrough, the guys at Matrimoney have laced up the stars. Nowadays, the Whos-Who of the game are all being spotted wearing the Texas-based company’s gear.

Putting an innovative twist on streetwear by incorporating a touch of class into each design, founders Geoff Garber and Will Bolt, collaborated in ’05, at the youngin’ age of 15, to bring to life a sophisticated new line. Inspired by their desire for a better way of life, the line caters to all shapes, sizes, and colors.

Matrimoney vows to stay married to the millis by modeling their business from one of moneymaker John D. Rockafella’s famous quotes:

“I BELIEVE IN THE DIGNITY OF LABOR, WHETHER WITH HEAD OR HAND; THAN THE WORLD OWES NO MAN A LIVING BUT THAT IT OWES EVERY MAN AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A LIVING.” – John D. Rockefeller

Take a look at some of your favorite rappers wearing the gear, and visit the links below to check the summer catalogue. You will NOT be disappointed!

Remember When Malcolm X Was An Emcee? We Pay Tribute To Our Black, Shining Prince

“The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.” – Malcolm X

Remember the days when Malcolm X ( El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz) was an emcee on everyone’s Hip Hop records? Folks back in the days would always sample him and have his words of wisdom be apart of the soundtrack..I recall the early days of Hip Hop when deejays like Afrika Bambaataa would rock Malcolm speeches over break beats. Not only did it sound funky but it helped raise our consciousness…

During the so-called Golden era You had everyone from Poor Righteous Teachers to Paris to 3x Dope to Gang Starr to Public Enemy all rocking Malcolm samples..I recall when KRS One mimicked the infamous Malcolm X pose where he was holding a gun looking out the window, ready to protect himself after his home had been firebombed. Many say KRS kicked things off when he featured Malcolm X in his My Philosophy video … I miss those days…

Remember when Malcolm was sampled so much that he wound up being on the cover of the Source Magazine? Say what you will, the powers that be worked overtime to remove Malcolm from our collective consciousness..It’ll be interesting to note how many newscast make mention of his birthday today… or how many urban radio stations that’ll quickly disperse info on Kanye and Kim dating but will be silent and omit Malcolm’s birthday or any activities related to it, in their daily banter..

I say on this birthday, let’s do more than give a shout out… Let’s return Malcolm back the forefront of Hip Hop consciousness…

Details Emerge On Canibus’ Pay-Per-View Battle Royal; Headlines vs. Dizaster On June 9

(AllHipHop News) Famed as participating in one of the most historic MC battles in the history of Hip-Hop as he attacked LL Cool J with a lyrical arsenal, Canibus is back at it again as he headlines the “Fresh Coast Vendetta: Battle Royale“, sponsored by King of the Dot.

Details for the event include its live broadcast pitting Canibus against an MC named Dizaster, who has faced some of the most well respected and seasoned battle MCs in the game.

Some fans of rap battles might remember the historic battle between former Ruff Ryder, Jin, and Dizaster back in 2009, but this one is even more hyped with Pay-Per View on the bill.

For those unable to make the live showdown, the event will also be available live via the KOTD Ustream channel in association with Pay-Per View.

There will also be a chat where participants can interact with fans from across the world, live as the battles happen.  The event is also set to feature exclusive interviews and two camera angles with a live editor on site.

“You better come with some f**king bars! I don’t want to hear no f**king excuses when this sh*t ‘s f**king over; no excuses! This is your chance to prove yourself homey. That’s the great thing about Hip-Hop. That if you get blackballed, that if any stupid s**t happens to you in Hip-Hop, no matter what somebody says to you at the end of the day the power of the word is what remains. “So you can save yourself, because ain’t nothing going to hold me back from doing what I gotta f*cking do to you bro. That’s it, ain’t nothing going to save you. Nothing—see you in Disneyland bro!” Dizaster said, threatening Canibus.

Gaining notoriety from a beef stemming from the “4,3,2,1” track featuring DMX, Redman, Method Man and LL Cool J, Canibus made his mark on the game with the  “2nd Round KO” diss track directed at LL, after the two started beefing over a line in Canibus’ verse on the track’s original version.

Referencing LL Cool’s famous mic tattoo, which LL clearly wasnt too fond of, the song ushered in the “beef,” and subsequently Hip-Hop history was made. Canibus has since been regarded as one of the premiere battle MCs of all time, and their duel is often remembered when recounting classic Hip-Hop battles.

For more info on the event and to tune in June 9, visit KOTD’s Ustream page. Below is a trailer for the main battle between Canibus and Dizaster.

Action Bronson Hit With $70k Lawsuit Over Botched European Tour

(AllHipHop News) Indie rapper Action Bronson has been hit with a lawsuit over a botched tour of Europe earlier this year.

Clockwork Music filed a lawsuit against Action Bronson in the Supreme Court of New York, on May 14.

The lawsuit claims Action Bronson entered into an agreement with Clockwork Music to perform 17-dates on the European tour.

According to Clockwork’s lawsuit, Action Bronson was paid in full for the seven dates he performed.

But the rapper bailed on the remaining ten dates, which he received deposits for.

Clockwork claims Action Bronson held almost $10,000 in deposit money, without returning a dime.

The lawsuit accuses Action Bronson of canceling the canceled dates as well, with the intention of harming Clockwork Music’s reputation with European promoters.

In total, Clockwork Music is seeking almost $70,000 in damages from Action Bronson.
