(AllHipHop News) Rapper T.I. has revealed that August 24th is the official release date for his new untitled album, his first since 2008s####, Paper Trail.T.I. was sentenced to a year in prison last May, for attempting to purchase machine guns and silencers in October of 2007. He is currently finishing the terms of his sentence. Last week, he was officially released from a half-way house to house arrest, with a curfew. The rapper released a statement via his official website TrapMuzik.com last night (April 1) and talked about his time behind bars and the direction his new album is taking. Im happy to be home. I feel better than Ive ever felt, T.I. said. [I] learned a lot, grew a lot. And now, I think its time to put all of that to good use.T.I. said he didnt do much writing while he served his time a low-security prison facility located in Forrest Arkansas. He cited lack creativity as the mean reason for not producing material while locked up. I didnt get a lot of time to. It was a lot of activity around me so, I wasnt really motivated to create, T.I. stated. Earlier this month, T.I. debuted a new song titled “I’m Back, the first single from his untitled come back album. The track showcases the new direction T.I. will take with his untitled album. This album is different in many ways, I think that Paper Trail was a lot more about arts and this is more about feelings, T.I. said. This is significantly more aggressive, at least in this period of the production of it. Who knows I could do ten love songs tomorrow and change the direction. As of right now its going hard, classic T.I.
As fans eagerly await rapper Pharaohe Monchs summer time release entitled W.A.R. (We Are Renegades), Pharaohe is prepping for a Canadian tour and gearing up for future releases on his WAR Media L.L.C. imprint. While his solo album W.A.R. will be released collaboratively with Duck Down Records, Pharaohe is learning a lot about how to maintain a successful music business by getting a behind the scenes look at how Duck Down maintains a solidified independent movement that continues to grow with each release and tour date. AllHipHop sat down with Pharaohe his legacy in Hip-Hop and his Top 5 Dead or Alive.
AllHipHop.com: Can you tell us your Top 5 Dead or Alive and why?
Pharaohe Monch: (Sigh) S###. Thats pretty hard to do. Im going to answer this question with, F**K THAT S**T man (laughs). Im kind of tired of it. I expressed it on the record. Im tired of it. Man, F### that Top 5 s### man. Its impossible to do, because every time I hear a Jay-Z record Im like how can he not be number 1? Or every time I listen to some old [Kool] G Rap s### Im like how can he not be the greatest?
As well, most of artists
will try to include themselves. With tons of fans it varies, it varies
so much. With me it varies so much, and sometimes its a relevant
question. 9th wonder posed the question on his Twitter page like If 5 aliens came to the planet to destroy the planet and they had to battle, what 5 MCs would be chosen? He asked the fans who the five MCs would be? Its a relevant question, but Im just kind of exhausted by that s###. Im tired of it. I say F**K THAT S**T . (Laughs)
AllHipHop.com: Thats hilarious. Some people will sit down and spend mad time coming up with an answer and you say F**K THAT S**T ? (Laughs) So, you dont have a Top 5, then who were you influenced by, or who did you listen to as you were forming your style, or what rappers did you listen to and say I want to give the listener this type of feeling?
Pharaohe Monch: [Kool] G Rap. (Silence)
AllHipHop.com: Kool G Rap. He was in the tape deck? (Laughs)
Pharaohe Monch: Thats it. (Silence)
AllHipHop.com: Ok man, thats whats up. Can you give us a little perspective on your legacy in Hip-Hop culture and where you feel you stand in hip hop history?
Pharaohe Monch: I feel great man, I feel like its halftime right now. Just coming up, I was fortunate enough to be inspired and listen to the 70s artists like Stevie Wonder and great artists like that, so the way that I viewed things had a long length to them. They had a body of work already, so my mentality wasnt that you make a rap album, Laffy Taffy record, you blow up and youre happy and thats it. I wanted to have number of records and a discography that people could look back on. From the Organized [Konfusion] to all the stuff now, I just feel really good. Im really happy with it.
(AllHipHop News) Incarcerated female rapper Remy Ma recently won a second appeal in an attempt to gain her freedom, after being sentenced to eight years in prison for shooting a friend in 2007. Remy Ma was convicted of shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach after $3,000 went missing from the rappers purse after a night of partying in Manhattan in July of 2007. The rapper was sentenced to eight years in prison for her role in the shooting in March of 2008. According to reports, one appeal has already been denied, but Remy recently received good news, when she was given good news about her second appeal. Her husband, rapper Papoose, told Vibe.com that he was confident Remy Ma would be sprung from Rikers Island early. “I can’t speak about it in detail due to legal reasons, but we recently got some great news concerning her second appeal, Papoose said. Let’s just say that she’s blessed. I highly doubt that she will have to serve the full time. If justice is served, then she will come home now. My plan is to see her walk out of that hellhole and get a breath of fresh air, so we can enjoy life.”
CHANCE ENCOUNTERS
The homey Chance is going off in the rumors today.
GHOSTFACE’S “GHOSTWRITER”LOVES THE KIDS
So there’s a guy by the name of Lord Superb and it’s been rumored he did a little ghostwriting for Ghostface Killah. Well apparently he had a falling out with the Wu and decided to spill a few details about the “work” he’s done. But things didn’t work out the way he’s like. LET THIS BE A LESSON for you glass house residents throwing stones. Shyheim has decided to expose Lord Superb as a child molester (a la Haystak): (click here to see his alleged criminal record)
Lord Superb Exposes Ghostface Raekwon (Interview Preview 1)
Shyheim speaks:
SHANELL’S BABY SHOWER
But it’s not Wayne’s seed. The baby she’s giving birth to is her new mixtape “Shut Up and Listen”. Guess she’s just playing with the pregnancy rumors. Speaking of babies check out how the Cash Money boss celebrated his birth the other day.
The other day I was going in on Kat Stacks via Twitter and Lil Mo hit me telling me to ease up and instead “pray for her”. I don’t really feel bad for her now (she DID start any backlash that comes her way) but things aren’t going so well. Aside from her address being posted, her Twitter has been suspended, she had to cancel some radio interviews in NY recently (Lip Service with Angela Yee etc) because she feared for her safety, and someone Child Protective Services are now investigating weather she is an unfit mother. KARMA IS REAL PEOPLE!!!
Here she is after being arrested last year:
JAY-Z & BEYONCE BABY ARGUMENT
The good guys over at “Its The Real” present their argument for some Jay-Z/Beyonce offspring. Maybe whoever is holding that up will reconsider after this:
J. COLE RESPONDS TO JAE MILLZ WHO GETS ARRESTED
Nipsey Hussle responded to Jae Millz attack on the XXL Freshmen 10 and now J Cole has addressed his comments. He also says he doesn’t know who Vado is. I guess outside of NY he’s not that big yet.
Meanwhile, Millz was supposed to make a surprise performance at the XXL show last night during Cam’ron and Vado’s set but he was arrested and detained for 2 hours in Jersey for driving without a license. The arresting officers even cracked a few jokes asking if he was famous, if he was Juelz Santana and if his jewelry, LV bag and belt were real.
KERI HILSON HATES AMERICA!!!
…or at least doesn’t know the words to the National Anthem. If you didn’t see the game last night…Keri slipped up while singing the Star-Spangled Banner and almost skipped over part. She did correct herself but you can hear the boos and gasp start to build. SMH at whoever was booing at that pretty girl!!!
Here’s her response:TRINA GETS KTFODid Khia and Trina cross paths???
Lol nahhhhhh … This is just a look from an alter ego photoshoot with Derek Blanks.
NICKI’S NEW BEEFSpeaking of Khia, she turned to her Twitter to send a few shots at Nicki Minaj. She seems to feel Nicki is a character and she wants a little more realism. Here’s what she had to say:
I dont know what Nicki is, if Lil Wayne likes her, I like her. I mean, shes an actor, she majored in drama, right? I think shes just an actor I guess. Shes acting, like, shes always in character. I dont know if
its really her. Everybody knows its me, its Khia. I dont know if
shes Nick, I dont know if shes a Barbie. I tell everybody, we dont
have Barbies in the hood. Boos, there wasnt no Barbies sitting on the
stoop, love who you are. Hip-Hop is supposed to be real, hip-hop is
supposed to be where the real people hang and I think its a lot of
infiltrators coming in Side note: I’m happy Nicki is turning more women into barbies cause that hood-rat, AG, I’m one of the guys look…NOT sexy. What’s that Chance??? Baby these heels.LOVE 2.0
Fantasia made headlines when she started dating Antwaun Cook, a married man earlier this year but now Antwauns wife (or ex idk yet) has someone pursuing her. This dude saw her at a party and turned to Craigslist in an attempt to win her heart. I guess one mans trash is another mans treasure. What I’m wondering is why didn’t he bag at the party???
I’M JUST SAYINA lot of people don’t like the Drake and Nicki XXL cover … Personally I think it looks like an issue of Jet.
Drake finished the last song for “Thank Me Later” yesterday morning!!!Don’t take any wooden nickles. It’s April Fools. If you didn’t hear insiders at Vogue say “Precious” won’t be getting a cover because she’s “too fat”…someone was quoted as saying “that wasn’t a dress she wore to the Oscars it was a tent.” SMH it is what it is.
I thought the promo for Rated R was over…not just yet…Photographs is the next single with a May 24 impact date.Kim K has moved out of Reggie’s house…she’s moving into her own Beverly Hills Mansion in April.
Happy belated to Shia Douglas (middle) Ashanti’s sister. She just turned 21 and if you didn’t know I think she’s gorgeous:
NICE!!!Nicki Minaj stopped by 106 & Park yesterday to introduce the video for her first official single “Massive Attack”.

What do you a call an unsigned rapper who has developed a brilliant marketing
technique, been co-signed by super producer Don Cannon, recorded with a list of
Grade A artists, and has amassed a dedicated following? You call him
GhostWridah. The 26 year old rapper, born Troy Jeffery is living the L.Y.F.E.
that for some years was merely a notion of what could possibly be.
GhostWridah not only asserts that, “The most
important thing in this business is your grind, he also lives by these words,
displaying a work ethic that is inevitably notable. If you ain’t determined,
then honestly, this is the wrong business for you,” says the MC from South Miami who has
ghost written for known household names, now on the verge of becoming a generally
known name himself. Music:“Red Bottoms” Produced By Don Cannon“Just Begun Freestyle”
AllHipHop.com: You have a flow that is different from
most southern rappers, were you born and raised in Florida?
GhostWridah: Yes, born and raised in South
Miami, Dade County. Contrary to common belief,
I am a Miami native.
AllHipHop.com: Who was your biggest influence?
GhostWridah: My brother. I always wanted to be like
him when I grew up. He was a rapper when I was younger and seeing [him] fall in
love with the Hip-Hop culture inspired me to want to be apart of it as
well.
AllHipHop.com: Who were your musical influences?
GhostWridah: Musically, I was influenced by lyricism.
I was only drawn to artist that wrote music that challenged me to think about
what they said. I guess that’s one of the reasons my sound is so
different. I was wowed by Outkast the first time I listened to a single
on a cassette tape. It was a breath of fresh air as well as an alternative to
the “Booty Music” I was used to hearing growing up in the 90’s. I also enjoy acts like the Pharcyde, and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic album. All to which I credit my
older brother for introducing me.
AllHipHop.com: What made you pursue a career in music?
GhostWridah: Listening to music for the first time
was such a euphoric experience for me. I mean here you have this empty beat,
which is equivalent to an artists’ canvas — You can paint whatever you’re
feeling with no rules or limitations. Knowing that Michael Jackson‘s Thriller started with an idea and
ended up being awarded 8 Grammys and becoming the largest selling album of our time,
is incredible to me, to say the least. The sky is literally the limit when it
comes to music. Nothing else gives me that feeling. When I went back and
started listening to the music of my mothers generation, I was blown away.
There is nothing like hearing Sam Cook
or Stevie Wonder for the first time,
nothing. Times like these are my inspirations and partly the reason I even make
music.
AllHipHop.com: Were you a ghostwriter first, or an
artist?
GhostWridah: I was both. When I was in 9th grade I
had a group and I would write music for everyone in it. They just wanted to rap.
I remember they’d say “write me a verse like Nas, cuz” [laughter]. I didn’t mind — it was more like
practice for myself. I enjoyed it and I still do to this day. That’s how I got
the name. I don’t even want to tell you what my rap name before GhostWridah
was. It was horrible [laughter]!
AllHipHop.com: When you’re writing, how do you know if
youll offer the song to another artist or keep it for yourself?
GhostWridah: I don’t, I just make music for me. I go
into [ghost] writing mode only upon request. If someone needs a record I’ll
gladly go in for them as long as the check is right!
AllHipHop.com: What collaborations have you done thus
far?
GhostWridah: Let’s see I’ve worked with Lloyd, Pall Wall, Shawty Lo, Smitty, Malik Yusef, just recently Billy
Blue (over a Timbaland track),
and I have something with Stat Quo
in the works. Its kind of crazy that Ive had all of these features without a
deal. I credit having great relationships and preparedness for that.
AllHipHop.com: What do you feel was your breakout period?
GhostWridah: I’d say it started between the
time of my last mixtape release [305s & Heartbreak] up until now. I’ve been
working hard at this for 10 years, since I was 15, but it seems like people
really got it” this past year. I also believe I really found myself as an
artist over these past 2 years so I guess it all worked out. I’m making the
most honest music I’ve ever made, and the fans love it. It’s a blessing.
AllHipHop.com: With all of your earned success, have
you considered moving forward independently? Or do you have an idea of who you
are going to work with as far as a label goes?
GhostWridah: Big Chuck (President of Poe Boy &
CEO of the Hiram Group) and I have some major situations in the works! Don
Cannon is heavily involved as well. I won’t say much as of right now, but I
will say that God has been extremely good to me! Just pay close attention.
AllHipHop.com: Is there a team of individuals that you
co-function with when it comes to music or other projects?
GhostWridah: Yes. I work with LowKey & Rem who
make up the production side of The L.Y.F.E. music. Those guys have become the Kanye & Jus Blaze to my Blueprint
— Great producers!!! I’m also working closely with Last Rights clothing, an
upcoming line already being worn by the likes of Young Jeezy, Ludacris, and
Brisco. We have a few tricks up our
sleeves this year as well. I really believe in their brand and they believe in
mine, plus I’m into fashion heavy! As I said earlier, Big Chuck and I are working
on something special too. Shouts to the online promo team: Fara, Nygee, and Mogeezie.
AllHipHop.com: What has been your biggest
accomplishment musically?
GhostWridah: Well I’m so young in the business that I
think I’ve yet to experience that, but I have had some incredible moments: meeting
Dr. Dre, listening and working on Detox for a day with him, Che, Stat Quo and the rest of the team was
THE GREATEST experience musically I’ve ever had. I’ll never forget it. I
learned so much in one day from those guys and I’ll never forget it.
AllHipHop.com: Explain your company L.Y.F.E.?
GhostWridah: Well my company, like myself, has gone
through many changes over the years. I knew I wanted to create my own dynasty
one day and I wanted a name I could live with, be proud of when I see it, something
that was a direct representation of who I am as an artist. Funny story is I
actually came up with this name in the shower. I do a lot of thinking in my
bathroom [laughter], but yeah we all want to live “The Life” but what
does it mean to do that. For me it was a simple change of spelling and an
acronym “Live Your Future Everyday”. Thats what we must do.
Appreciate the present, learn from the past and live for the future — Live The
L.Y.F.E.
AllHipHop.com: A lot of artists have been releasing mixtapes
that have better content than their albums. What can fans and listeners expect
from your album that they havent gotten from The Rulers Back or 305s &
Heartbreak?
GhostWridah: A More in depth look at who
I am — more than just catchy choruses and hot punchlines. I want to give my
audience a body of work that will allow them to be entertained and educated.
Like the writing on my new single “Red Bottoms,” the album will be very
entertaining, but very insightful as well.
AllHipHop.com: Explain how the Red Bottoms track came
about?
GhostWridah: Wow [laughter]. Where do I start? Okay so the Red Bottoms
story, as the producer of the great record calls it, is funny. I was at Poe
Boy studios recording, and I was given a track I was told would be a go to use
because of the relationship this particular person had with Don Cannon. I thought the beat was
super dope! I actually had it for about two weeks before I even touched it. So
finally I write the song after having a few conceptual & directional
changes. It took the engineers, producers (MBW), and I four days to get the
song recorded properly. I demoed it, rewrote verses, switched up a few flows,
whatever it took to ensure the song would be great. So once I knew it was
ready, my team and I started going crazy with the online promo. Three weeks in
advance I went berserk on the net. Almost, if not every Twitter post was about
#Redbottoms. I made some people believe this was the biggest record of the year
before they had even heard it. So on February 15th at 8:06 pm, I pushed the RED
button on Red Bottoms. The internet went into a frenzy! The responses were
all positive and the outcome was great! It wasn’t until the song reached Don
Cannon and he spazzed out via Twitter that I realized the track wasn’t cleared
by him — But when he heard it, he loved it! We built a working relationship
and the rest is history!
AllHipHop.com: Anything else you want to share wit the
readers?
GhostWridah: In
Love with My Future EP which was an LP will be released soon. I’m taking
my time with this one to ensure the release of a classic! Also, I will be
making an announcement very soon to let my family and friends know who I will
be signing to. Thanks to every fan and supporter of the GhostWridah brand. I
appreciate every single one of you! Real words.

(AllHipHop News) Police in Virginia beach are upset with a local radio stations April Fools Day joke involving superstar rapper 50 Cent. Radio station Z104 made an announcement claiming that 50 Cent was shooting a video at Mount Trashmore tonight. “It was a joke and we appreciate that. But, as a police department we have to worry about crowd control and traffic, even if it is a hoax you might have thousands of people show up anyway,” Officer Adam Bernstein of the Virginia Beach Police told WAVY News Channel 10. The announcement set off a frenzy of speculation on Twitter and Facebook, so much that the City of Virginia Beach posted a message on their Twitter page debunking the rumor. “Hi folks! 50 Cent will NOT be @ Mt. Trashmore this evening, the City of Virginia Beach Tweeted. The supposed video shoot was an April Fool’s Day prank by a local radio station.” 50 Cent is actually in Russia, preparing for two high profile gigs at Moscows largest venue, the Olympiisky Arena.
Erykah Badu has shaken up the world with this video, but b-roll footage has been released of the singer in all her naked glory. See it below.
