Digital Underground Announces Final Release

(AllHipHop News) Legendary Hip-Hop group Digital Underground is preparing to release an album of previously unreleased material that includes a live recording featuring a young Tupac Shakur. The Greenlight EP, which features production by David Banner, Dotrix 4000, Numskull, J Stalin, Tupac and Digital Underground’s front man Shock G. The record, which will be released on Jake Records, features a live recording of Digital Underground’s#### 1991 single “Same Song,” which features Tupac. “In 2008, the group released their final studio album, Cuz A d.u. Party Don’t Stop, but there were still a few songs hidden away in archives that Shock and the group really wanted out there, so The Greenlight EP was born to help round off the collection for fans,” Jake Records’ CEO Scott Thomas said. “What’s great about this collection of tracks is the diversity of sounds and themes, and the fact that it’s a real upbeat project.”Digital Underground front man confirmed that The Greenlight EP will also be the last official release for the group that introduced the world to the character Humpty Hump. The group released a string of hits in the early 1990’s, including classic singles like “Doowutchyalike,” “The Humpty Dance,” “Same Song,” “Kiss You Back.” Additionally, the group famously introduced Tupac Shakur to the world. The Greenlight EP is due in stores May 18th.

Kindred The Family Soul :A Family Affair

Kindred the Family Soul burst onto the scene in 2003 and brought romantic love right along with them. Their debut album Surrender to Love , had lovers loving as their hit singles “Far Away” and “Stars” put the rhythm back into R&B. Their follow up album In This Life Together, was a soulful psalms as the beauty of their love for each other showed the beauty in appreciating the love of your partner with hits like “Woman First,” “Where Would I Be,” and “Thru Love”. The love fest continued and the foundation was strong as ever with their 2008 release The Arrival. As their popularity grew so did their family and now the Kindred Family Soul, whose foundation is built on soulful harmony is Six deep, and they’re letting us in even deeper. Kindred, aka Fatin and Aja Dantzler, are still living and loving life as the proud parents of now six beautiful, smart, and charming youngsters, and they are showing the world how they balance family and music with their web series Six Is It, which can be seen at www.KindredtheFamilySoul.com. The web series ended yesteday, so check that out. Aja and Fatin took time out to share the love with AllHipHop.com Alternatives.AllHipHop.com Alternatives: Hey guys, how y’all doin? It sounds pretty quiet over there.

Aja: (laughs) Yea, it’s supposed to sound like mayhem huh? Well right now we’re hinding in the bunker.

AHHA: Six kids running around can get a little nerve wracking at times, I’m sure.

Aja: When they start to drive me a little nuts I give the kids a choice between regular mom and cukoo mom, which one do you want?

AHHA: I can only imagine. Watching the show however, and watching you guys perform on stage you two seem to wear it so well. After 12 years of marriage and six kids, how do you still look at each other with so much love in your eyes?

Aja: Well, (ha-ha) it’s funny. I guess if you marry someone that you really do have chemistry with, I guess you can go through a lot of things. Trust me, it’s not always how it looks on TV, we are normal married people. We argue, and have our moments when he gets on my nerves. We fart around each other and the whole nine.

AHHA: That’s when you know it’s real.

Aja: The thing that always keeps us back in that space is we just kinda match. We never really loose that thing we have. We can go through a lot of things, but we’re still genuinly attracted to one another and ya know, I feel like people downplay physical attraction. It’s important to have it, it buffers a lot of stuff (laughs).

AHHA: So, Six Is It, is Six really it?

Aja: Six is really it! I think we’ve done our part in populating the world, so we’re gonna turn our little card in.

AHHA: Now on your show, you share the fact that you’ve had home births with some of your children, and as a matter of fact your final webisode revolves around the birth of your youngest son, congratulations. I did however, find it a little disheartening to hear one of the determining factors for you doing the home birth was due to lack of insurance, is that the case or had you always wanted to do home births?

Aja: Well actually, to make it totally accurate, the first time we had a home birth was my second pregnancy, so i’ve had home birth’s twice. Before, in the beginning i think it was both things equally. It was the fact that we were much newer in the music industry and pretty much making our living solely as entertainers and we didn’t have health care at the time. But i think that home birth was kind of a natural progression for us because when my 1st child was born we had a midwife and her children were born at home; and although my experience with my midwife was so wonderful, and my labor wassomething that Iwas able to handle, I felt after he was born that if i had another baby that i would want to have a home birth. So it kinda coincided with something I was already thinking and it just ended up being a much more economical choice for us back then. By the time we had the twins we had spent a lot of time self employed so that was something we had been doing for years. We’d been used to it and had great doctors and relationships, so by the time we had the twins and this last child, home births were just a part of our lives.

Fatin: I also came from a large family of six as well, and my mother had three of her children at home, so I was used to that too so it wasn’t a shocker.

Aja: His mother had also assisted in a few home births as well.

AHH: What about the pain?

Aja: I’m one of those people whose like, I do my thang and you do your thang, nobody’s gonna hand you a badge when your done, so if you wanna get the shot, then get the shot, do your thing. But it’s kinda just a personal choice. I feel like my labor goes by much quicker without the medicine and that’s just a fact. Epidurals just drag out your labor longer and you can’t really feel what your doing. The body isn’t really naturally doing what it’s supposed to and its just a higher chance of getting a big split if you know what I mean.

AHHA: Yeah, well I’ll take 18 hours of prolonged pain as opposed to two hours of that kind of unmedicated pain, so I applaud you.

Aja: The pain is just a reality of labor so if you choose to go natural you kinda already have it in your mind that that’s what its going to be so it doesnt really shock you, but let me just say this last one? He was a doosey!

AHHA: Well I’ve seen all of the episodes leading up to the birth so i can’t wait to see the final episode. What made you guys want to do a web series vs. going for a network reality show?

Fatin: The idea to start on the web series just happened very organically, it wasn’t really planned. We had sat down with networks before who had asked us about doing a reality show when, at at the time, was a couple years ago and we weren’t really that interested having seen all the train wrecks that happen on all of the reality show’s so we were like naw, we don’t want to be percieved in that way. When we found out we were gonna have another boy with this last child, my oldest son was on the football field and I went to tell him and since his mom wasn’t there I just happened to record it on my phone because I wanted her to see his reaction. It was such a genuine moment it felt kinda like our music, so i felt like it was something people would be able to relate to and hope that they see comparison’s in their own lives in it. People always ask us how do we do it? What is it like a day in the life of our family? Because they hear the music and want to know what inspires us to continue to discuss our family and our life, and it just felt naturally cool.

Aja: And the internet thing really came about because we felt it was just a freer typer of environment and so we would be in control. And its a way to share with our audience but protect our kids in a much more open forum that’s not as programmed and scripted where people can set you up to look bad,

Fatin: Not that we Don’t want to share all of what’s real but its more like sharing our family photo album as opposed to our family photo shoot.

AHHA: I can honestly say watching your family makes the music even that much more real for me. “Far Away” is one of my favorite songs. It always takes me to a special place when i hear it. You guys have celebrated success with your music yet watching your show is far from the opulence you’ll see on Run’s House in that you guys seem to live a very modest, loving, normal life in the city, in the heart of Philly. How is it going from performing in arenas at night and coming home to quaint, humble dwellings?

Aja: For us it’s one of those things where we end up getting the best of both worlds. I feel like if you had asked us 10 years ago what we thought fame was about and what we’d like to accomplish with our career, we would be kind of different people because at this juncture we’ve been able to see 1st hand how certain levels of success can kinda ruin the beauty of everyday life. Like to be able to live in a real neighborhood where your kids can go out and play, and go to public school, and hang out and have real friends and a real life and be able to walk the streets and the grocery store without pandemonium and still have success in your career at the same time. For us we’ve been able to have a very successful career and be able to do what it is that we want and be able to support ourselves but at the same time have been understated enough that we’ve been able to live a fairly comfortable life where it’s not extravagant but its a good life and have been able to provide well for our very large family and ultimately I think the duality of our lifestyle is what keeps our music very real.

AHHA: Speaking of your music, are you guys working on a new project?

Fatin: We are getting ready to approach the studio we hae a lot of new ideas and are about to get ready to get back in there.

AHHA: Are you guys still with Hidden Beach?

Fatin: Next question. I don’t want to get into that part of the conversation right now, but we’re working on new music.

AHHA: Ok, we’ll leave it at that. I notice the kids show their musical side on the show. Do you guys have a new Jackson 5 in the making?

Fatin: I think a lot people assume that but the funny thing is I don’t think so. Our kids enjoy music and they’re cultured in that their parents do music. We love music and music is always on and its a part of our lives but we’re not pushing music on them. Its just something they like to do but they have other dreams and aspirations so whatever they’re comfortable with is what we’ll support.

Aja: My son wants to play football and my daughter, believe it or not, her hero is George Washington Carver. They love music but i don’t think its something they want to make a career out of, except maybe the little one Nina. She seems to have been bitten by the bug. She doesn’t know how she’s gonna do it yet but she knows she’s going to be a star.

AHHA: As real musicians yourselves, how do you guys feel about R&B music these days with all the autotune and things of that nature?

Fatin: We were about to get T-Pain in the studio so we can try to make something happen , no just kidding, but to each his own. Whatever works for some people. Of course we’re very big on the history of music and trying to make music that makes a difference and contribute to the musical library that exists that’s full of classic and timeless material which is what we would like to create. We realize that there are a lot of niches and fads that come out, and people are kinda able to get in where they fit in and that’s cool in any business, but real classic tunes are what i believe are going to last. We hope we can continue in that tradition and we like to deal with people from that angle and we don’t want to veer to far to the left to do whats happening per se

Aja: The bottom line is autotune is whatever it is but people still gotta show and prove, because if every singer used autotune you’d still have to choose the best singer. But at the end of the day no matter what people tend to do, they still have to be artists. They still have to be original, they still have to be good. They still have to have some type of work ethic they still have to be creative because if your just a carbon copy of everything else you’ll go right by people.

AHHA: What do you think are the biggest misconceptions for people when they first get into this business?

Fatin: That they’re about to get paid. That they don’t need to do much and can just put out a hot record and next thing you know its cha-ching. There’s a lot of hard work and a lot of time and effort that goes into making stars, and superstars, known artists and all of those things; there are no overnight sensations.

Aja: Another misconception is that you can read the industry and then make yourself fit it and that’s how your successful. People have this misconception that if i do whats popular and do that than thats whats gonna do it for me. If your a new artist you want to be fresh you want to set the trends you don’t want to follow them.

AHHA: In ten years from now what do you want people to be saying about Kindred?

Fatin: I’m about to go to that concert! The new album is out and I bought my ticket. We just want to have been productive and leave a legacy behind in music. We want people to say they’ve raised beautiful kids and their kids are doing great things and we just want to be proud and make people proud.

AHHA: Well your definitely on the right track thank you for taking time out to speak with us and good luck with the show.

Exclusive: KRS-One’s New EP to Go After ‘Disrespectful Emcees’

(AllHipHop News) Bronx Hip-Hop legend KRS-One has finished a new EP focused on calling out rappers that have questioned or challenged him over the last several years.

Named Back to the L.A.B. (Lyrical Ass Beating), the EP features 6 tracks and as of press time no confirmed guest appearances.

KRS launched his career in 1987 on the strength of the now legendary Bridge Wars, a lyrical battle his BDP (Boogie Down Productions) camp initiated against Queensbridge pioneers Marley Marl and MC Shan, and their affiliates in the Juice Crew.

KRS also defeated legend Melle Mel in a live head to head battle at NY’s famous Latin Quarter nightclub that same year.

The following year in 1988, the Blastmaster would use the lyrics from that encounter for the official track “I’m Still #1,” off BDP’s sophomore LP By All Means Necessary.

In the early 90’s KRS-One had another famous beef moment, this time a physical confrontation with alternative R&B group PM Dawn. Having his credentials questioned by the duo in Details magazine, KRS crashed their show and tossed member Prince Be off the stage before immediately performing “The Bridge Is Over.”

KRS-One’s latest battle was in 2002, when he launched several diss tracks (“Ova Here,” “The Real Hip-Hop,” and “You Don’t Really Want It”) at Nelly over a perceived slight on the St. Louis rapper’s “Number 1” song.

In addition to the new EP, KRS-One plans to re-release his albums such as Criminal Minded, Spiritual Minded, and Hip-Hop Lives.

Back to the L.A.B. has production from DJ JS-1 and the Beatminerz. A release date has not been announced, nor has KRS or his representatives confirmed which emcees may be addressed on the EP.

Below is the project’s tracklisting, which has been verified by AllHipHop.com.

Diddy Lands Exclusive Distribution Deal With Macy’s

(AllHipHop News) Sean “Diddy” Combs has announced that his Sean John line will be exclusively distributed by Macy’s, the nation’s biggest department store chain. During a press conference, Combs said that Sean John has done over $1 billion dollars in business with Macy’s “and we plan to do a couple billion more,” Combs said.”I got my start at Macy’s when I was 16, selling shirts and ties,” Combs told The New York Post. “To come full circle like this is a dream come true.” Macy’s will build exclusive Sean John shops at key Macy’s locations across the country, with Sean John retaining creative control over all display designs. Nas Says Spousal, Child Support Bill Too Much

(AllHipHop News) Efforts to follow a court order to pay child and spousal support to the ex-wife of rapper Nas have gone south.TMZ.com reports that Nas admitted he is unable to maintain payments of back spousal and child support due to R&B songstress Kelis.Last month, a judge ordered the New York rhymesayer to pay Kelis $47,249.42 in back child and support and $40,454 in back spousal support. In addition to the back support payments, Nas was ordered to pay $10,000 a month in spousal support until he pays off the $299,015.50 he owes Kelis. It is unclear how much the rap star is required to pay in monthly child support Nas’ total debt continued to increase as the judge ruled that the rapper has to pay 90 percent of Kelis’ legal fees, which amounted to $155,787.2,. as well as the singer’s acounting expenses, which totaled $48,549.83. The hefty amounts have resulted in a request from Nas’ lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, for the judge in the case to take another look at the total amount of the payments and its impact on his client’s finances.Although the judge predicated the order on Nas making $152,031 a month, court documents obtained by TMZ paint a different picture with the rapper saying he makes “substantially less than that amount.” Nas’ admission is the latest in a string of developments revolving around his  divorce from Kelis after four years of marriage.  The couple, who have one son from their union, ultimately split in 2009. A spokesperson for Kelis cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the break-up. Despite their marital parting, Nas and Kelis are preparing to release new music for fans.  Nas’ collaborative album with reggae superstar Damian Marley, Distant Relatives, is slated to hit stores May 18. Kelis’ upcoming release, Flesh Tone, is scheduled to arrive July 6 to stores in the US and Canada.  Fans of the vocalist who live in other countries can purchase the album on May 17.

DIDDY DENIES MANAGING ROSS AND NICKI MINAJ?

Rick Ross already let the cat out of the hat so I don’t know why he would be saying the following:

“Don’t believe what ya’ll heard, me and Nicki are just cool and Rick Ross is my brother, so don’t believe the management rumors. There are no official announcements regarding any management, so don’t believe it. I do have some major announcements coming in the next few weeks so stay tuned.” – Diddy

I guess Weezy has a new jail blog coming and part of it was leaked to the peasants like me.

“The love between a mother and her offspring is hands down the most beautiful thing God created. More than money, more than fame, more than cars. You know why? Because true love is the only thing that lasts from the moment you’re born to the second you perish. Everything else eventually leaves, think about it. All love needs to survive is love. To all the mothers who read this letter, I hope this day allows you to feel the love and respect you so rightfully deserve. You are the role models, not me.”Deeeeeeeep…

Peep what JD said about URSH…and, guess what? He’s got a point!

“…you sold more records than any other artist in this decade based on that album and now I have to ask you am I the executive producer of your next album? That seems disrespectful to me.”

“Me as a producer, it’s kind of hard for me to go back into people’s projects when I gave you your biggest album ever.”

“Obviously I’m looking at something different than everyone is looking at it whether it’s the label, the artist, management… whoever it is. I’ve had this same conversation with L.A. And Through It All…Still We Dance!

“Make ‘em say go LL and do the Wop!” – LL Cool J

As I think back, the Wop was probably the last dance

mentioned in a rap song that I tried to do. Did I say try?  Who am I kidding?  I mastered the Wop.  I did it with both of my hands or either

just one.  After reading that line

aloud, I must admit that it doesn’t sound particularly cool, but trust me; I’m

just talking about doing the Wop.

This was during a time in close proximity to Sugar Bear and his crew

encouraging the world to do Da Butt.

That was a dance when people purposely bent over and gyrated their hind

parts to an infectious tune.

Needless to say, I didn’t try that one at all.  There are just some things that men, of any age, should not

be doing publicly or in the private of their own home.  And I’m proclaiming Da Butt to be

one.  Now I know that Sugar Bear

said, “ain’t nothing wrong if you wanna do Da Butt all night long.”  But clearly, if you were a male and had

the audacity to adorn the attire (spandex biker shorts) that went along with the dance, I

will not say “what was wrong,” but obviously something was.

In the midst of struggle, we danced.  We’ve always used dance as a means to

express and communicate ourselves to others.  Sometimes it seems that when trying times become even more

difficult, we dance harder.

There’s a club song played in Baltimore clubs that encourages the party

goers to “dance the pain away.”  I

wish it was that easy, but nevertheless, we dance as if it is.

Nowadays many of our youth are attacked in Hip-Hop for

making “dance” songs.  I won’t

participate in this bashing of youth culture and I don’t get offended by the

“dance” songs they produce because I recognize that I’m not part of the

demographic in Hip-Hop that their music is targeting.  Participating in or attempting to do the dances the youth of

today rap about, would be the equivalent of my father doing the Wop back in the

eighties.  He would have lost all

of his cool points.  Now be honest,

did Soulja Boy expect people twenty-five and older to be doing the “Soulja

Boy”?  What in the hell would I

look like doing something that consist of me leaning forward on the tip of my

toes with my arms stretched outward to my sides as if I was flying and saying

“yew”?  The Bay Area kids are

jerking, which I think is cool, for them and their targeted demographic.  Besides the fact that I’m too old and

mature to be jerking, I tore my knee ligament years ago.  So, I couldn’t jerk even if I wanted

to, I don’t have the same motion and flexibility that I used to have.  Which brings me to this; the Southern

kids are “flexing.”  When I viewed

the video Flex by Party Boyz on 106 & Park, I was entertained as well as

amused (Damn, I wish I had as much confidence as that shirtless skinny

dude).  Immediately I recognized

that they were not talking to me.

First and foremost, besides my age, my stomach is too big to be flexing.  As a matter of fact, I don’t have

nothing at all to flex, nothing.

Now, none of the Party Boyz said that you had to be fit or tone to do

their dance, but personally I just associate the word “flex” with muscles.  So, more than likely, I will never be

hitting somebody with the flex so she could be begging for some more.

Back in the nineties, Petey Pablo encouraged anyone in the

party who wanted to participate to, “take your shirt off, twist it round ya

head, swing it like a helicopter.”

Though this wasn’t a dance at all, the act itself was incorporated into

many dances during the time.  I

never did that either (I didn’t want anyone laughing at me when I took my

shirt off, for obvious reasons), but many people did.  In particular I recall eleven years

ago, at my bachelor party (a house party with the amenities of a bachelor

party), a friend of mine got swooped up in all the excitement and festivities

and began to get his Petey Pablo on.

But that’s a whole different story that I refuse to divulge on this

site, especially since my wife read my editorials.  Probably one of the most popular dances ever mentioned in a

rap song or featured in a rap video was provided for us by them Harlem Bad

Boys.  Remember nine years ago when

G Dep, Black Rob, and Diddy had that joint Let’s Get It?  The video featured one very cool little

girl doing the Harlem Shake, which

my man Yaniz from Harlem told me is actually called the Al

B.  That was a cool looking dance,

but again, not for me.  Nor was the

Stinky Leg, Chicken Noodle Soup, Walk It Out, or countless other songs that the

youth rap about or incorporate into songs.  I’m a grown ass man!

The youth promote dances through songs and many in the

community get mad, but we’ve always done it.  Now, we attack them for not being lyrical and thought

provoking, simply because the music and its content isn’t as diversified as

we’d like for it to be and oftentimes, we feel that the older demographic is

not catered to in Hip-Hop.

Prompting many of us, the first generation introduced to the music as

children, to abandon the music as adults.

We dismiss the youth efforts completely, which makes them feel slighted,

some even suggest that we’re hating, and that prevents us from using the

present day most effective medium to engage our youth, Hip-Hop.  Well, I’d like to suggest that we be

reminded that we were once young and a part of the same culture.  And admittedly, we did many of the same

things.  If you think about it, I’m

certain that we’d acknowledge that those who were ten plus years older than us

then treated us the same way by attempting to dismiss what we were doing.  They were just as wrong then as many of

us are now.  Granted, we have a lot

of issues that could, should and need to be addressed through our music, but

maybe, just maybe, we’re attempting to put the burden of responsibility on the

shoulders of the wrong people.

This thing of ours, this rap music is a beautiful tool.  We can do whatever we want with

it.  With the music, we can teach,

we can learn, we can provide humor, we can influence, we can promote change, we

can provoke thought, we can be braggadocios if we’re feeling ourselves, we can

provide jobs, we can be socially conscious, we can empowering and uplifting, we

can be either responsible or irresponsible to our community, all while dancing.

I’m not mad that our kids dance and promote dances in their

music.  I attended house parties

back in the day, with my mug broke, standing in a B-Boy stance, and really

thought I was partying, until I was introduced to the bump and grind, Wop and

Cabbage Patch, Fila and Pee Wee Herman.

After the initial introduction, partying and the social aspect of the

music, changed for me dramatically, but it didn’t prevent me from learning or

feeling a sense of responsibility to my community.   Dancing is what we do in addition to everything else

that we’re supposed to be doing.

What would anger me, is if dancing was all we did.

Eminem Shoots Video For “Not Afraid”

(AllHipHop News) Eminem shot the video for his new song “Not Afraid” on the

streets of Newark, New Jersey today, as people from the city watched intently.

The video was shot on Market Street, a popular strip in the

city. Em was joined by Royce Da 5′ 9″, longtime friend and Slaughterhouse

signee.

Fans of the rapper were held at bay by police barricades and

a strong security presence, which upset some of them. However, Eminem calmed

many of them simply by waving to those across the street and behind the

barricades.

Clad in all black, Eminem walked up the Market Street block

as a camera and crew taped his stroll. A number of people served as extras in

the video.

According to sources, the crew had been there since early

morning and the officers had blocked off the streets well into the afternoon

while Eminem shot the video. Others, who requested anonymity, said that Eminem

choose Newark because it was more lowkey than nearby New York City.

Many of the fans attempted to slip the reclusive star a CD

of their demo songs, but were promptly stopped by police.

Eminem’s Recovery album is slated for a June 22 release.

Bone Celebrates New Album Release, Speaks on Bizzy’s Behavior, Future Plans

(AllHipHop News) Yesterday (May 4), Bone Thugs N Harmony reached a milestone in releasing their eighth studio album Uni-5: The World’s Enemy, the first to feature the full 5-man lineup since 2000. As the group continues touring and promoting the project, the group still occasionally finds itself at odds with member Bizzy Bone.

On their recent promotional tour last month, the group had to contend with Bizzy Bone opting to miss several tour dates over rumored monetary issues, despite the tagline for the new album being the Cleveland collective was again a unified front.

“[With this album] we had to keep each other in line and in check with concepts,” Flesh N Bone laughed in an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com. “Nah that’s never a problem but every now and then we gotta pull Bizzy’s card and let him know ‘this is what we’re on, B!’ But nonetheless making the album was magic. The energy was even crazier than it was back in the 90’s. That never changes. It’s like magic, it’s so powerful.”

Bone released 3 singles (“See Me Shine,” “Rebirth,” and “Meet Me in the Sky”) preceding the May 4 release. While all 5 members are present on nearly every song, questions persist if they’ve been able to maintain chemistry on the road with Bizzy jumping in and out of the lineup.

According to Layzie Bone, after close to 20 years together the issue is a non-factor in their live performances.

“It doesn’t really bother us because we’re family,” he explained. “We’ve been doing this together forever. It can be any one of us that has different circumstances. Bone Thugs N Harmony has a revolving door. We might fall out and have discrepancies, but all and all we show unity and work it out. So at the end of the day what you’ll see is brotherhood.”

Uni-5 boasts 11 full songs, but the group revealed they recorded hundreds of songs for the project and have 2 full additional albums set to drop.

“Oh man that’s an understatement!” Krayzie Bone exclaimed. “All the songs that didn’t make this album, we got at least 2 more albums. And we’re starting a special edition of our mixtape series. Everyone heard the first one. You’ll hear everything that we didn’t put out on Special Delivery Part 2

“And not to mention the s**t we got with Swizz [Beatz],” Flesh added, speaking on the material recorded while the group was under Swizz’s Full Surface label.

Bone Thugs N Harmony’s Uni-5: The World’s Enemy is available now.

AllHiphop ChartWatch: B.O.B. IS ON TOP!

ChartWatch for May 5, 2010

Happy Cinco De Mayo!  You know what that means…the radio is going resurrect

reggaeton for the day.  If you’re a fan…enjoy

it.  Go celebrate.  Hit a bar and have a drink….and if you’re a

fan of rap take an extra shot because a Hip Hop artist finally made it to

number one on the charts.  Granted a lot

of it was due to the one song that I hate on his album but congratulations

should go out to B.o.B for grabbing the number one spot this week.  The

Adventures of Bobby Ray sells 83,747 copies with the success of its first

single “Nothing on You.”  If you haven’t

had a chance to listen to this album then do yourself a favor and pick it up

because it has a little something for everyone.

Next up is The Black Eyed Peas and their

latest album, The E.N.D which sells another 19,836 copies and moves up two

spots to 15.  Will.I.Am may have gotten

roasted by the Boondocks (D***riding for Obama may be the Black Eyed Peas best

song yet) but I’m sure he’s got some solid gold Kleenex he can cry into.  Either that or he was laughing at the episode

while watching a solid gold flatscreen.

I don’t know what he’s doing but I imagine some solid gold is

involved.  What I want to know is where

did 19,000 people come from that hadn’t bought this album?  Where do these people come from?  Let’s move on because I’m starting to rant.

Luda!

Ludacris drops two spots, from 18 to 20, selling 17,393 copies of his

latest album, Battle of the Sexes

He was in “Dropping” last week and makes

it onto the charts this week.  Daddy

Yankee enters the charts with his ninth studio album, Daddy Yankee Mundial.  The

latin rapper sells 12,349 copies and takes the 33rd spot.

Finally, Lil Wayne and his rock

experiment, Rebirth, continue to sell

records, proving that once you get popular enough your fans will buy

anything.  Somehow a rapper…who can’t

play the guitar…or any musical instrument that I know of…managed to sell

another 11,381 copies…of a rock album…and take the number 35 spot.  Dude actually moved up five spots from number

40 last week and all he had to do was hold a guitar.  Let this be a lesson to you aspiring artist

out there.  I don’t know what that lesson

is but I’m sure there’s one there somewhere.

Shoulda

Been

It came out last week.  It wasn’t in the top ten

this week…but it shoulda been.  Honestly

I was ready to put B.o.B on here because I know how ya’ll are about buying

music (especially when its good music), but he took the top spot this week.  That means shoulda been actually happened

this week and we don’t even have to worry about it.  I guess if you want me to just say an

artist….ummmm…..Daddy Yankee.  He was on

the charts but I guess he should have been in the top ten.  Maybe…?

Yeah, that works.  On to “Dropping”.

Dropping This WeekFirst up is Memphis duo Eightball & MJG.  I didn’t even know they were coming out with

an album but the southern rap pioneers drop their 11th studio album,

Ten Toes Down, this week.  This is their first album since being

released from Bad Boy and signing to Grand Hustle.  The album will feature Young Dro, Bun B,

Soulja Boy, Lil Boosie, David Banner, Slim Thug, and, of course, T.I.  I can’t even see how this could

disappoint.  I mean…I said that about the

last album but I didn’t really believe it.

If anybody has listen to Eightball & MJG or heard them and T.I

together then you should know that his album won’t disappoint.  Pick it up.

Next up is Miami’s own Trina who releases her fifth studio album

Amazin’.  Go take a look at her album covers and you

can see that Trina has come a long way since Da Baddest B####.  On her

debut album she looked like a nurse that might give you syphilis and now she

looks like Beyonce’s best friend…without syphilis…I’m assuming.  Trina’s last album rated well but never

really picked up in sales so this time the rapper returns with an arsenal of

guests.  The new disc features Diddy,

Kerry Hilson, Shonie, Lady Saw, Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, G## Fresh, Monica, Lil

Wayne, Rick Ross, Lyfe Jennings, and Kalenna of Dirty Money (not the girl you

know from Danity Kane…the other one).  Trina says fans can expect versatility on

this one so fans might want to give it a listen.

Next up is a group I thought I would never get tired of hearing

until I got tired of hearing them.  I

haven’t bought one of their albums in a minute but it’s good to see them still

doing their thing.  Bone Thugs N Harmony

return with their eighth studio album, Uni-5.  The album features a few rappers that only

the most die hard Bone Thugs fan would know anything about but what is more

important is that all five members are on this album.  Bone Thugs is really like a family, where at

least one member is fighting everyone else (Bizzy), one member is missing for

whatever reason (Flesh), and one tries to keep it all together (Krazyie?), but

they meet once a year for the family reunion.

True fans should be happy that this finally happened and go pick up an

album with the complete Bone Thugs N Harmony.

That’s it for Dropping this Week and ChartWatch.  Go pick up an album or two and we’ll see who

makes it next week.
