M.I.A. Has Baby Boy

M.I.A. has given birth to a baby boy, a move ceremoniously announced by way of her MySpace blog. M.I.A.’s baby missed his due date on Sunday, which allowed the eccentric entertainer to perform “Swagger Like Us” at the Sunday Grammys with Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil Wayne. He eventually arrived on Wednesday. The child’s father is fiance Benjamin Bronfman. The boy, whose name wasn’t revealed, didn’t miss the mark by far. The singer/rapper went into labor about 2 am on Monday morning.On her blog, M.I.A. humorously detailed her joy by writing: “MY BABY WAS BORN WEDNESDAY , HE IS HEALTHY , FINE , BEAUTIFUL AND THE MOST AMZING THING EVER ON THIS PLANET, OF COURSE IM HIS MUM!!! ME AND BABY ARE PUTTING OUR TOUR DATES FOR 2010 TOGETHER AND MAKING MIX TAPES AND FIGURING OUT A WAY TO BREAK OUT OF THE HOSPITAL ! HOPEFULLY THE WORLD IS BEEN TICKING ALONG AND I AINT MISSED MUCH!

Kid Cudi Tasered & Arrested At NBA All-Star Party

Rapper Kid Cudi has been involved in an altercation that has resulted in the Cleveland native being tasered and apprehended by authorities, according to multiple sources.

Details are sketchy, but the rapper apparently was involved in a fight or altercation while at the Reebok party in Phoenix, Arizona. Much of the music industry is in the city celebrating the NBA’s popular All-Star weekend.

Eyewitnesses stated that Kid Cudi physically and verbally confronted a pair of Reebok employees. The artist was booked by the apparel company to perform at the venue.Sources said that Cudi wanted to wear Jordan sneakers on stage, a move that did not agree with the people of Reebok.

Authorities intervened after the confrontation escalated and Cudi was tasered, a move to control his behavior.

The rapper was presumed arrested by police, but actual charges have not been revealed.

A representative for Kid Cudi was not available at press time.

Allen Iverson, a Reebok endorsed athlete, attended the party.

Diddy, Russell Simmons Win NAACP Image Awards

Sean “Diddy” Combs and pioneer mogul Russell Simmons were

Hip-Hop’s biggest winners at the 2009 NAACP Image Awards.

           

The taped event was broadcast last night (February 12) from

the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

           

Combs picked up Best Actor in a Television Movie honors for

his work in the well-received, 2008 adaption of Lorraine Hansberry’s timeless

play A Raisin in the Sun.

           

Combining a talented cast of actors in Phylicia Rashad, Sanaa

Lathan, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Audra McDonald, the film brought in an

audience of 12 million for its initial February 2008 airing.

           

Simmons took home the coveted Vanguard Award, which is given

to those “whose ground breaking work increases understanding and awareness of

racial and social issues.”

           

Through the non-profit Hip-Hop Summit Action Network,

Simmons utilizes the uniting force of Hip-Hop culture to advocate education,

financial literacy, and social empowerment for young people.

           

“Russell is deserving of this prestigious award because he

has used the power of Hip-Hop to reach and inspire our nation’s youth,” stated

Clayola Brown, NAACP Image Awards Chairwoman. “Combined with his ongoing

commitment to strengthening relations between ethnic communities and his

generous charitable spirit, Russell was a natural choice to receive the

honor.” 

           

The 40th annual NAACP Awards was hosted by Halle

Berry and Tyler Perry, and also marked the

100th anniversary of the organization.

BREAKING NEWS: Dipset’s King Tut Wanted For Attempted Murder

Dipset affiliate King Tut is a wanted man at large, after he allegedly stabbed a woman seven times in her Hackensack, New Jersey apartmentyesterday (February 12).The rapper and an associate were arrested early Wednesday morning(February 11) in Northern New Jersey, after police found a half-ounce of cocaine hidden inside of a teddy bear.Also recovered were several small baggies of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale.According to police, King Tut, born Darnell Brittingham, was released from Bergen County Prison yesterday (February 12), after he posted a $25,000 bond.Just hours after being released, the 23-year-old went to the Hackensack apartment and stabbed the unidentified woman seven times.Police are now seeking to arrest King Tut for the attempted murder, but currently do not know his whereabouts.The woman is expected to live and is currently recuperating in a New Jersey hospital.
