Shyne To Be Deported, Intends To Fight From Belize

By all accounts it appears that Shyne will be deported. The rapper is set to be sent to his native Belize, where his father lives, according to radio reporter Miss Info. The finding was revealed in a conversation with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez, who had a conversation with the still-imprisoned rapper. “Shyne is one of the strongest people I know and he’s handling this situation just as I’d expect him to. It must be frustrating for all of his friends and family,” she said according to missinfo.tv. “He served his time, and keeps getting all these different dates and conflicting information. But he’s a soldier, he’s dealing with it.”Although he’s still in the United States, Shyne expects to be shipped to Belize, where he will likely continue his fight to stay in the United States. A New Yorker since 13-years-old, he was raised by his mother and grand mother in Brooklyn. They still live in the United States.Harvard Professor Charles Ogletree is working on Shyne’s behalf with his legal team and they seek a pardon through New York Governor David Patterson. Paterson’s first gubernatorial pardon was for Ricky “Slick Rick” Walters, a rapper convicted in 1991 on attempted murder.Shyne was incarcerated for almost 10 years for assault and weapons charges. Moses Leviy is Shyne’s new legal name, changing it in homage of his Jewish grandmother.

Wednesday Fashion Feature: What’s Your Take On Velour Tracksuits?

It could be easily forgotten that the tracksuit was once used for function, not fashion. It was meant to be a "warm-up suit", worn over athletic apparel, until Adidas re-introduced it as lounge wear during the 60s. The tracksuit didn’t quite become a fashion trend until the 80s. It was taken to another level by the booming hip hop industry of that time. As huge fashion pieces, they were worn like uniforms in performances by breakdancing groups, and hip hop legends like Run DMC. Run DMC The velour tracksuit specifically made a come back a few years ago, thanks to brands like Sean John and Juicy, and then seemed to quickly go from cool to tacky. The market became over saturated with them, and velour lovers began abusing them, wearing them everywhere from the airplane to a dinner date. Kim Kardashian Last year, Nas helped Fila re-establish itself in the urban market when he promoted one of their clean and classic velour tracksuit. Fila is still going strong with these sets, with other urban brands like COOGI jumping on the velvety bandwagon.  Velour Track Jacket by COOGI  As soft and comfy as they are, can you see yourself wearing velour sets again? DVD Review: Katt Williams’ Pimpadelic

“All comedy comes from a dark place.”

-Katt Williams

In his new DVD, Pimpadelic, Katt Williams often refers to his once illustrious career as a stand up comic, a legacy that still resonates with fans. However, the video now may be one of the last documents to chronicle his stand up life now that the entertainer has official retired from comedy.

The film, mostly taped in Washington D.C., also serves as a glimpse into the murky recesses of Katt’s mind as well as his comedic genius.

“If you’re going to be the caliber [comic] that I am, you have to have a lot of bulls**t in your life,” he says in the limo commuting him through the city. “As a comic, the bad things are good. The journey is worthwhile.”

And from the moment he jumps on the stage, he offers much that is worth watching, merging the reality and humor into a highly combustible mix.

On money and Michael Jackson, he says:

“That’s why sometimes you don’t don’t want too much f**kin’ money. Look at Michael Jackson. He ain’t mean to look like that. That wasn’t in his f**kin’ plan,” he said. “That’s not the face he thought he was finna end up with. He just had too much money. Sometimes being broke is a m#### f**kin’ protection.

In the video, he visits the D.C. Iverson Mall wearing a bulletproof vest under baby blue leather.

He would later quip from stage that the shopping area was so small, it was in the shape of a circle.

Comedy is expected and routine from Katt. Pimpadelic features Katt in rare form as he sheds the humor and offers his more human, intimate side.  He discuses his family life, his relationship to God and offers gems of wisdom to those daring enough to pursue comedy. These are the moments that will endure and round out Katt’s outrageous public pimp persona.

On success, he says, “Life is change. I’m trying to be changed by all new circumstances. It would be ridiculous for me to get money and fame and not change. If I was going to stay the same, I could have stayed in the same position. I want to change more. That’s the goal.”

But the comedy is what ultimately anchors Pimpadelic and will please all fans of Katt Williams and earn him new ones.

Katt even takes technology to task.

“Ya’ll remember when the cell phone came out, was it not this m#### f**kin’ big?” Katt says holding up a chair. “Now the cell phone’s so small that by next year…its going to be a chip on a n***gas tongue. “Hello, no n***a, I’m on the tongue phone.”

At the end of Pimpadelic, Katt sums up his aims nicely.

“You try to be good. You try. You try to do as much good as you can possibly do,” he say of his job as comic and man. “I want to get a promotion, I want to get a raise and I want to retire,” he ends.

Pimpadelic includes some footage that is older and likely identifiable by hardcore Katt Williams fans. Still, the grainy footage is like sitting in a live comedy show – ultimately pleasurable.

David Banner Reschedules Chicago Rally Supporting Youth

Jackson, Mississippi Hip-Hop artist David Banner has announced that a planned community rally has been postponed due to safety issues related to the unanticipated number of people who will attend the event.

Banner’s Heal The Hood Foundation was to hold the Something’s Wrong Community Rally today (October 20) as a response to the growing violence amongst youth in Chicago’s streets.

According to Banner, the event was supposed to attract almost 700 people but demand to attend the event was so strong, that the rally was postponed to accommodate the swell of new people.

“This is a movement not to condemn kids or any organizations but the safety of the kids is my biggest concern, we want to stay on task and continue what we’ve started, we want everyone to have the opportunity to contribute,” Banner said in a statement.

Artists expected to participate in David Banner’s Something’s Wrong Community Rally include Twista, Malik Yusef, Naledge, Tiffany of Bad Girls Club and J-Niice of B-96.

The goal of the event is to develop solutions to the problem of youth and gang violence and how unity can be fostered throughout various neighborhoods in Chicago.

Tiny Speaks On T.I.’s Status and Atlanta Violence

Fresh off an appearance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, TV star Tameka “Tiny” Cottle recently gave an update of her husband’s current condition and the tragic violence that’s#### her inner circle.

Earlier this month, Tiny’s former Xscape bandmate and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burrus lost her fiancée Ashley “AJ” Jewell.

His death was the result of injuries sustained in a fight at an Atlanta strip club.

Coupled with the brutal shooting death of former boxing champion Vernon Forrest in July, Cottle revealed that T.I. urges her to remain close to home to prevent becoming a target.

“I talk to him about a little of everything, just things going on. He hears things and we talk about it,” Tiny explained to AllHipHop.com. “He wants me to stay out the way, me being out of harm’s way. I know it’s a lot of crazy things going on so I try to stay in as much as possible because I don’t have him here. So I come out only when it’s necessary. I stay out the way. But he even said it was a terrible situation that AJ had to lose his life like that. Him not knowing the situation and what’s going on he really can’t speak on it.”

Tiny was on hand October 10 at Atlanta’s BET Hip-Hop Awards taping to accept two awards for T.I.

The Atlanta superstar took home honors for CD of the Year [Paper Trail] and Collaboration of the Year [“Live Your Life”].

When asked how he’s mentally coping with the prison sentence, Tiny explained that he engages in regular jail activities while being kept abreast of Grand Hustle business.

“He’s doing good. He’s passing the time by working out and just doing things they do inside, you know,” she stated. “He’s playing handball and things like that. I go see him every Sunday, sometimes on Mondays. We talk everyday. He gets emails, working out and doing things like that so he’s busy in there. He has a full schedule.”

The 2009 BET Hip-Hop Awards is scheduled to air on Tuesday October 27 at 8PM.

At press time, T.I. is set to be released from prison on March 26, 2010

Fefe Dobson: On Roc Comparisons And Her Joy

The Music Industry can be

quite hilarious at times. Just when you think that you have it all together,

BANG, if not your fans, it’s the record label that suddenly stops

believing in you. Or did they? Well in Fefe Dobson’s case, being dropped

by Island Def Jam back in 2006, just a week before the release of her

sophomore, still feels a bit cold to the touch. She’s moved on…

Fefe was a bolt of lightning

when she debuted. While the Canadian’s musical counterparts were lugging around

acoustic guitars and chewing bubble gum to the top of the charts, Fefe

hit the stage in a white tank top, blue jeans and truly rocked hard

with no regrets. Not to mention that she was also a female rocker of

color in a genre that was reintroduced to this image (i.e. Tina Turner,

which Fefe played the role of the NBC show, “American Dreams”).

Fefe had this spirit about

her that didn’t necessarily lead to Top 10 charts at that time. However,

that same spirit rewarded her with multiple talk show appearances, movie

soundtrack placements, a strong fan following as well as a Juno Pop

Album of the Year nomination in 2005.

So why would Island Def Jam

drop an artist with the potential for career long success? In my opinion,

all you have to do is some industry math. Maybe Fefe was just a casualty

of a Mr. Shawn Carter run label. And if you take it step further, the

former President signed now R&B/Rock superstar Rihanna, which was

on her early rise at the time of Fefe’s exit. These are just a few speculative thoughts

on what could have happened.

On a brighter note, Fefe is

now independent and ready to continue her musical career. Her new album Joy is a raw, beautiful ride, led by the singles “I Want You”

and “Watch Me Move.” The born rock star sat down with AHH

to talk about her new album, her thoughts on fellow Canadian and Rap

star Drake, Rihanna and why Canadian women are so desirable.

AllHipHop.com: Fefe, if you

don’t mind getting right into it, talk about the energy behind your

sophomore album, Joy.

Fefe Dobson: The energy was

amazing, so awesome. I was able to write this album with all of my friends.

It was all about positive vibes, no negativity came to the table. I

wanted to do a record that wasn’t overly produced. I wanted for this

album to be raw, to show all of my talents and flaws. I find that when

albums are overly produced, it hides the artist true talent, true voice.

I wanted to showcase my talents in a real way, not computerized.

AllHipHop.com: Although your

second album with Island Def Jam wasn’t released, some of the singles

from that album were covered by artists, including Jordan Sparks. How

do you feel about being so young and having a few covers of your music

under your belt?

Fefe Dobson: First of all,

it’s crazy to have people covering my music. I am 24 years old, and

I have already had to Contemporary covers of my music. It’s cool and

it’s nothing but an honor, I’m loving it.

AllHipHop.com: Fefe, I can’t

lie, there is just something about Canadian women, I can’t put my

finger on it. Being a beautiful Canadian woman yourself, would you like

to speak on that?

Fefe Dobson: I can’t answer

whether there is something different about Canadian women that guys

love about us. I don’t know, maybe it’s in the maple syrup or something.

Or maybe you just love Canadian women.

“Rihanna and I

are both Black women that perform music that has an edge. But if you are a true music lover, you can easily hear the difference

between us.-Fefe Dobson

AllHipHop.com:  True, True (we

laugh). Speaking of Canada, Hip-Hop was greeted in 2009 by the now Top

3 emcee in the game, Drake. Being a fellow Canadian, do you have any

thoughts or opinions on his success?

Fefe Dobson: I think that the

success Drake is achieving right now is great. I’ve known Drake for

a while now. No one saw this coming. And it’s awesome because he is

such a nice guy. Well he is nice to me; I don’t know what he’s like

to other people. I think that his success is awesome, like, why not?

Oh, one of my friends has the hugest crush on him. She wanted to know

if I could have him call or come to her birthday party. I was like,

“I think that he’s kinda busy right now.”

AllHipHop.com: There were quite

a few debates in online communities comparing your style to Rihanna’s.

Yet people would often say that you were always consistent and somewhat

of a prototype for what you both do musically. Any thoughts on the comparisons?

Fefe Dobson: Rihanna and I

are both Black women that perform music that has an edge. I believe

that this is the reason why people would say that we are similar in

style. But if you are a true music lover, you can easily hear the difference

between us.

AllHipHop.com: I had the opportunity

of attending your live performance a few weeks back. You always leave

everything that you have on stage, very personable with the crowd and

the mic-stand. While promo-touring for Joy what are some of your

favorite songs to perform?

Fefe Dobson: I love performing

the single “I Want You.” It’s fast, and it has a lot of energy

is such a short amount of time. I love performing the song “I’m

a Lady.” It is the first song on our set. It is a woman’s anthem;

I know that it is for me. It talks about being a lady and asks the question,

“Are you ready to be this lady’s man?” There’s a ballad called

‘In Your Touch’ that I love performing that song. I love ballad.

I am a sucker for good ballads. Ballads are a great connector to the

audience. Fefe Dobson performing at Mercury

Lounge

Cormega: Born and Raised (Album Review)

Long before his fellow New Yorkers caught on, Cormega epitomized the independent grind. After severing ties with Def Jam, Mega kicked off the 2000s strong with a pair of critically acclaimed LPs in The Realness and The True Meaning. Through the remainder of the decade, the Queensbridge native stayed busy by dropping a compilation for his label [Legal Hustle], a joint album with Lake [My Brother’s Keeper], and an official copy of his shelved Def Jam offering, The Testament. Now entering another decade, Cormega finds that Hip-Hop has shifted away from his sound, as the Queens’ emcee pointed out in his recent critique of Drake. But Mega has always thrived away from the big lights, and he seeks to continue his independent success with his latest album, Born and Raised (Legal Hustle).

What has separated Mega from many of his Queensbridge brethren is his ability to give inner-city narratives a three-dimensional perspective, as opposed to just stereotypical gun talk. On the L.E.S. produced “Girl,” the former Firm affiliate personifies cocaine as a woman that brings death and destruction. To drive home his point, he alludes not only to the disarray selling the narcotic brought to his life, but also that of several celebrities in Richard Pryor and Sugar Ray Leonard (“She burned Richard Pryor when he piped her raw…Sugar Ray couldn’t even fight her off/Soon as that blow hit him/His title was lost.”). While the production is plodding and undynamic, Cormega’s rich allusions and commanding narrative voice keep you engaged.

On “Love Your Family,” Mega shows a gentler side by advocating his immense love for his first-born daughter and mother. Havoc supplies a basic low-key melody and handles guest verse duties. It’s the type of track that’s usually reserved for the end or second half of albums, and shows Cormega’s desire to show versatility immediately for any first-time listeners.

For Born and Raised, Cormega has gathered an impressive list of name producers from the 90s and today’s underground scene: Easy Mo Bee, Fizzy Womack, Large Professor, DR Period, Nottz, Ayatollah, Buckwild, Pete Rock and DJ Premier.

Womack laces Mega with a lush, jazz-tinged arrangement on “The Other Side.” The production features a piercing saxophone as the centerpiece, which creates a bittersweet tone that goes perfect with Mega’s verses. The rapper opines on a individual destroyed by street dreams, and details how a fellow drug dealer helped push him out the game and to his calling as an emcee (“He would rather give me money/Than give me consignment…I could use my voice to rhyme/Or pursue exploits and crime…”).

Premier and Large Professor’s offerings mesh well with Mega’s style. Premier supplies two cuts in “Make It Clear” and “Dirty Game,” with both showcasing the legendary producer’s signature boom-bap and scratch choruses. The latter is superior courtesy of a harder bassline and sprawling violin loop, making it a strong contender for single status. Large Pro’s “Journey” also utilizes an engaging violin loop, but sets itself apart with a scatting vocal sample. Here, Mega focuses on his success in pursuing music and the return of New York’s Hip-Hop scene.

Despite the established production names, everyone doesn’t supply Cormega with the type of heat you’d expect. Easy Mo Bee’s “Get It In” is basic and by the numbers, and that is reflected in the rhymes schemes of the emcees despite guest Lil’ Fame trying to up the energy. Pete Rock’s “Live and Learn” suffers from the same listlessness, and Mega’s recycled betrayal cautions can’t save the track. From listening, you can tell Cormega picked these selections to retain the uniform feel that’s missing from many of today’s albums. However, several are too close in structure and drag the LP down and the listener out.

Born and Raised does end strong with an old-school posse cut in “Mega Fresh X.” DJ Red Alert provides the intro, and Cormega gladly takes a back seat to let PMD, Grand Puba, KRS-One, and Big Daddy Kane shine. Each emcee does well, with KRS’ energy and Kane’s bars being the highlights.

As we move into 2010, Cormega’s new LP marks a solid solo return following 2002’s True Meaning. Yes, the mainstream may have moved on from Mega’s style of Hip-Hop, but the Queensbridge vet has not made it this far by concerning himself with industry trends. And as long as Cormega continues to supply “the realness,” his fans will have it no other way.

Hip-Hop Rumors:Ciara P##### Off TLC? Pharrell Disses Jay? D. Wade & Gabby Are OUT!

DISCLAIMER:

All

content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual

info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.THE DAILY TWO SENSE

Uhgggg! I’m geting pretty sick of rumors again. Hit me up with anything. LOL!

DID CIARA P### OFF TLC?

I cannot believe the wave going against Ciara. Well, first it was Lloyd and now it is TLC, Chilli and T-Boz. How did this happen? My friend, well an associate, hit me up and told me that the two had a recent encounter on the red carpet at some recent event. Apparently, Ciara didn’t recognize TLC on the red carpet, but was all groupie-like back in the group’s dressing room. Apparently, they weren’t too impressed that she didn’t have so much to say on the actual carpet. I wasn’t there, but it seems a lil’ bit petty to me.

DID PHARRELL DISS JAY?

N.E.R.D. opened up for Jay-Z in Seattle, Washington. From what I was told, Pharrell was supposed to come back on stage for “So Ambitious,” the song of BP3. Well, it seems that P left Jay-Z hanging and never actually came out for his cameo! I heard Jay-Z looked all confused and just asked the crowd to join in and sing it. They did, but some parts of the audience were upset that Pharrell didn’d make it back out there.

I heard J. Cole did his thing on that stage too!

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

OK, here is an example of finer parenthood. Sick. A mother and her sister leave a two and a three year old home ALL ALONE so they can take a man home. What happens next is what tragedies are made of. A fire is started in the home and people outside hear the kids screaming as the flames and smoke consume them. One child dies and the other is in critical condition. The mother screams in pain as she finds the news, but the aunt has a different reaction when ask if she had any regrets.

“No, I really don’t because if they had been there by themselves, I don’t know if the boys set the house on for or somebody threw something in there to set it on fire. I really need to get in there to see if my purse burned up. I had my Food Stamp Card and everything in there.”

Marilyn Wilson you are human trash.

 THESE MY NOODLES!!!!!!!!

This situation gets really intense. Fighting like that over some Raman noodles? WHOA! This fat kid needs cake!

WHY CLEF? TALKS ABOUT THE FUGEES REUNION!

“For me, I’m comfortable in my skin and I know what my gift is. That’s why I’m able to do it over and over again for a whole lot of different artists, because I love producing. I’m a fan of artists. You gotta understand when I met Lauryn she was 14. Til today I’ve worked with a whole lot of women in the studio…her talent surpasses talent. She’s the best rapper, she’s the best singer. It’s all equal. It’s not like she’s gonna sing a song and when she rhymes she’s gonna slack on it.”

“The Fugees getting back together, the magic of it would have been the trust factor. They gotta be willing to put their career in my hands and I’ve got them. Which means like if I’m like do this in the studio you used to do it before, so why you don’t wanna do it now? So to me they’re great and they’re gonna always be great but the Fugees, it’s better that it leaves the myth vibe. Like the score is a myth when you hear it it’s a myth. It was done in the basement. Like you don’t wanna go from there to do a sequel and you’ve destroyed your complete myth.”

Chamillionaire Wanted To Beat Michael Jordan Up For Diss

There is a saying that goes, “You should never meet your heroes.”

It looks like rapper Chamillionaire found this out the hard way. These days he looks towards Barack Obama for inspiration, but at one point, he looked to none other than basketball great Michael Jordan as an idol.

But, the rapper was in for a rude awakening when he had a chance encounter with Jordan. In the presence of Spike Lee and a bunch of other basketball greats.

Well, what happened next is the stories legends are made of.

If this video starts to make the rounds, MJ may just have to address it and give Chamillionaire some reparations, if he even cares at this point.

“The economy isn’t the only thing hurting right now,” Twista told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “The kids are going through some things right now, too, and so we need to get out there and talk to them so we can help them out. That’s what the point of the Stimulus tour is right now.”

Twista and company plan to visit Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Charlotte, North Carolina, Detroit, Indianapolis, Saginaw, Sioux City, Iowa, Columbus, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri.

Children in each city that attend the discussion at the youth centers will be provided free tickets to the show in their city.

“These kids just need someone to really sit down with them and explain to them how things really are,” Twista said. “And there’s no reason that person shouldn’t be me so I’m going to make sure I can do that for all the kids I possibly can.”
