Hip-Hop Needs Another Death!

“Am I wrong for wishing somebody would get killed? I mean, it just doesn’t seem like Hip-Hop gets it until somebody gets killed.”

“It ain’t Hip-Hop til some one gets killed? Thanks. That has to be the most reckless, insensitive statement I have heard against our culture in a long time and I’ve heard a lot from conservatives, republicans, bible thumpers, etc.

Epic failure, illseed.”

How cool would it be if Joe Budden or Raekwon were to get killed over some nonsense!

Man, it would be good for everybody. They will sell more records. The fans have something to talk about. More internet traffic for AllHipHop. DJ’s get to do obligatory mixtapes. And, finally everybody gets to look back with the clarity of 20/20 vision like, “That was the dumbest, most avoidable rap beef ever.”Can you hear the sarcasm dripping from your computer?

Remember, this all started from a LIST from a magazine, who had an opinion about some rappers in the game.

All of that lead to THIS, beef, gangs, violence and online s**t talk. I just find it amazing that Hip-Hop has now adopted such a petty way of operating. We really shouldn’t be here…we should be celebrating.

Think about it, Slaughterhouse represents exactly what Hip-Hop should be. Four rappers banning together in a drought to create one of the best groups Hip-Hop has seen in a long time. And when I say groups, I don’t mean this loose collection of signed artists. I’m talking about the crew that sleeps in the studio, is cool and rides for each other. They have a self-titled album out on August 11 (deemed Slaugust 11) and Joe Budden also dropped a digital EP as well, Escape Route.

Then there is Raekwon and Wu Tang. What else can be said? These dudes are arguably the greatest group ever and Rae authored their greatest album. Raekwon has the sequel (Only Built For Cuban Linx II) out soon that we all hope takes us to a place where Hip-Hop was about the feeling and the music.

The music!

Back to my opening statements about death…

Karmaquarius is an apparent member of the “Stop The Violence Movement,” an anti-violence group that was founded about 20 years ago by KRS-One. I never heard a peep from said individual until my “reckless, insensitive statement.”

For those that know me and how I operate, they got it. They got it, because they are wise people that know that I speak tongue-in-cheek from time to time and they have been reading my work for years.

Here is the point for the two people that didn’t get it.

Hip-Hop generally sits idly by and waits for something to happen, before the outrage occurs. The outrage only really happens after somebody gets shot, stabbed or killed. For the most part, it really takes something way over the top for people to respond. Hence, Karmaquarius’s apparent knee-jerk reaction to a seemingly brazen comment that was sarcastically written.

The fact remains a punch in the eye can result in death or increased violence, even for a guy like Joe Budden. Joe has close friends that are very “affiliated,” and reports quickly came in that a disaster was averted at and after the Rock The Bells concert. Clearly an older soul, Joe Budden challenged Raekwon to a “fair one” or “square dance,” as he put it. One on one. The “Stop The Violence” people are very necessary in these times. The beef simmers but I am sure can anything can break out at any given moment, at any given venue.

Ever notice how small the world is getting?

Rae and Joe…on the same tour. They are within a Twitter “tweet” of talking bad about each other. Joe can send a video message and never converse with Rae, but they are in touch nevertheless. These guys are talking to fans and fans are talking to them. Fans are picking sides. Beef is no longer “over there…”

This conflicts are right here in our faces, on our computers in every medium imaginable.

I don’t want anybody to die. I want Hip-Hop to live. I want Hip-Hop to see, before tragedy. I want people such as Karmaquarius and all the “Stop The Violence” movements around the nation to react to a slow-moving, but eventually epic tragedy in our future. These days, the reactionary way is pointless. You have to be damn-near psychic and know something is about to happen and do what you can to avert it.

PS: For the record, I don’t think a “fair one” is such a bad idea, in theory.

Former Member of Diddy’s “Band” Arrested For Stabbing

Sara Stokes, a former member of Hip-Hop group Da Band, was arrested last week for domestic violence in Moreno Valley, California.

According to TMZ.com, Stokes was arrested by police after she was involved in a physical altercation with her husband.

Stokes and her husband Tony fought on August 2. During the argument, Stokes stormed out of the house when she tripped and fell. She accused her husband of him of doing it and allegedly stabbed him in the arm as her three children watched.

Stokes was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, although the District Attorney is deciding whether charges will be filed or not. Stokes was discovered by Sean “Diddy” Combs on the hit MTV reality show, Making Da Band 2.

The group, which also included Dylinjah, Chopper, Babs Bunny, E-Ness and Freddy P., released one album, Too Hot For TV in 2003.

Since then Stokes has dabbled in acting and reportedly developing a new make up line called SASS.

French Montana: Akon’s Bullet

With New York rap fighting for relevance, very few rappers truly helping change the reality for the Big Apple. However, the underground scene has bred a handful of potential candidates in recent years, and Konvict Musik’s French Montana may just be the help New York needs. People may only know him from the widely successful “Cocaine City” DVD series he started back in 2002, but his gritty, street style of rap finally has people paying attention. It caught the ear of Akon, and now French is the next up on the platinum recording artist’s imprint. AllHipHop.com gets the latest from French on everything from growing up in Africa to how he feels about longtime friend and frequent collaborator Max B’s jail sentence.

AllHipHop.com: Where did the name French Montana originate from?

French Montana: A lot of people don’t realize I come from Morocco in North Africa, born and raised. I was over there until I was 13. France had tried to take over Morocco, not in my time obviously, but there are still influences there from the French culture. So when I came over here, the name French just kind of stuck with me. Then the Montana thing I just picked it up. There’s the whole cocaine connotation from the name of my DVD series with Tony Montana, plus I kind of bare a resemblance in the skin tone. So I tacked that on to the “French” part and voila, you got French Montana, the macaroni with the cheese!

AllHipHop.com: What were the living conditions that you faced while in Africa?

French Montana: It was horrible. It was a third world country. It was pathetic, honestly. There wasn’t too much to do but to turn to selling drugs and even then it was still tough. It was wild. I don’t want to paint the picture though that I was living with lions and all that. Like any city anywhere, if you have a lot of money, it’s a beautiful place. But for most, that’s not the case. My whole family is over there still. Just me, my mother and my little brother got over here. It’s what you make of it though. The schools, they were messed up. My mother used to pay the teachers off just to pa** me.

AllHipHop.com: So you sure it was the schools and not just you? (laughs)

French Montana: Don’t play with me! (Laughs) The schools was crazy though. Luckily my brother was able to come up through America’s school system and have it better than I did.

AllHipHop.com: When did you come over here?

French Montana: We made the move in 1996 when I was 13. We chose the Bronx because it just seemed accessible to everything. And the rest is history.

“That’s my n***a….aside from all the rap stuff, that’s like my brother. It wasn’t even on no rap s**t, I lost a true friend. We’re fighting though.”-French Montana

AllHipHop.com: You built an empire of sorts off the Cocaine City DVD series. How did you get started in that lane? What made you want to do that?

French Montana: Being in the Bronx, being in New York in general, you’re bound to always be around someone doing something in music. Just through knowing people and being in the right place at the right times, I had gotten some good footage, and I knew some of my people had gotten some good footage too. I had already been rapping for a couple years just as a hobby, and I thought about it like if I put together a DVD of big name artists that people want to see, I can throw myself in on it too and promote myself at the same time I’m making money off of the other footage. No hustle makes sense to me unless you’re making money from it. I wasn’t gonna just be a rapper and be stuck all these years battling and all that making no money. The DVD thing looked like a win-win to me. So I had some money saved up just from different things and I put it all into the first DVD. Called it Cocaine City just because cocaine is worldwide…every city has it, just like they better have my DVD. It did really well so we went for a second round, and next thing you know I got the hottest DVD in the streets.

AllHipHop.com: You’re approaching Volume 13 now and still seeing sales rise with each volume. What do you think made yours so successful, especially when the market was at one time so saturated with tons of “street” DVD’s?

French Montana: I think mine did so well because I never followed anybody. I never watched anybody else’s…just had a plan in my head and did it my way. I’m all about visual…I watched many cla**ic movies growing up so I used all of my influences and put it toward my work. And it may sound cliché, but I went SO hard. That truly is the key. I drove down to Atlanta multiple times just to get some footage. I talked my way into VIP’s at clubs and would just never take no for an answer. I put myself out there and it truly paid off in the end. I didn’t care how impossible it seemed for me to get some of the footage I wanted. Where there’s a will there’s a way. Now look….

French Montana – “Why So Serious”

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

AllHipHop.com: When did you realize that it was time to take the shift from DVD as a priority, rapping as secondary to the other way around?

French Montana: Once I saw the demand was there I knew it was time to really start pushing myself as a rapper. With the first DVD, people gonna be like who is this dude? Second one, they gonna be like oh yeah…I remember him. Third one they gonna be like ok, I recognize dude now, I like his stuff. Then the fourth, fifth, etc. you drive that home. So by like Volume 8 or 9 with the DVD’s as popular as they were, obviously my name was out there too. Cocaine City did everything for me. It opened up so many doors and it still continues to. The defining moment though was booking my first show. That’s when I was like ok, I can turn a profit now strictly from rapping. So I just started going harder than before, in the studio more than ever. I linked with Max and really turned it up. Got the deal with Akon and now I’m about to show the world what I got.

AllHipHop.com: How’d you link with Akon?

French Montana: I’ve known Gaby (the President of SRC, Akon’s label) for so many years now. I met him right around the same time I started doing the DVD’s. He always looked out for me and supported my music. One day he had been playing it around Akon, and ‘Kon heard it like yo, who’s that? Gaby told him about me, and next thing I know I’m flying out to Miami to meet with him.

AllHipHop.com: Is the deal official?

French Montana: Yes it’s official. I’m working on my album now. The first single, the official one because “New York Minute” was kind of like the throwaway single, it drops within the next few weeks. It’s called “Married to the Streets” and it’s featuring Akon, produced by J. Cardim.

AllHipHop.com: There’s been quite a few rappers signed to Konvict but they haven’t exactly flourished while there…Red Café for example. How are you so sure Akon will make you a priority?

“I know this isn’t just easy street from here on. They say the hardest work comes after you sign the deal. And I’m fully prepared for it.”

-French Montana

French Montana: He ain’t got a choice. I’m the hottest n***a in the street. Nah but look at T-Pain, look at Lady Gaga, look at Kardinal Offishal. They’re all successful and yea, Red Café isn’t a number one artist but he still has success in his own right. Like I said earlier, things are what you make of them. I can’t rely on Akon to do everything for me. I gotta push myself too. It’s a blessing to have this opportunity but I know this isn’t just easy street from here on. They say the hardest work comes after you sign the deal. And I’m fully prepared for it.

AllHipHop.com: In the past two years, rapper Max B was a huge part of almost everything you worked on. How did you feel when he got the guilty verdict?

French Montana: Horrible man. That’s my n***a….aside from all the rap stuff, that’s like my brother. It wasn’t even on no rap s**t, I lost a true friend. We’re fighting though. He should be out soon if everything goes right. There’s new evidence and a new lawyer and obviously we can’t speak on it much but we’re staying positive.

AllHipHop.com: Do you feel he was an integral part of your success?

French Montana: Of course. Our chemistry together was just crazy. People would hear me and him and would be like yo ya’ll gotta be a group. He had what I didn’t have and I had what he didn’t so it just made it complete. It was a great thing for the streets because they ain’t see something like that since like Mobb Deep, Wu Tang…you know what I mean? We’re just the 2010 version of it.

AllHipHop.com: What’s next for you?

French Montana: Everything! I got a lot of mixtapes dropping soon…Coke Wave 2 with Max B will drop first. Should be within the week or so. Then Cocaine Konvicts with Akon after that, followed by a Gangsta Grills. Shout out to DJ Drama. Then in the midst of that, Volume 13 of the DVD is dropping too. My French Connection mixtape just hit the streets. As far as the album, I’m going to drop it as soon as I feel the streets are really ready. I really appreciate everybody’s support. I’m just a real n***a doing real things. Free Max B. Keep him in your prayers. And big thanks to AllHipHop for everything!

The Game Banned From New Zealand High School

An Auckland, New Zealand high school official declined the opportunity to have controversial rapper The Game speak to his students this week.

Peter Gall, the principal at Papatoetoe High, told a local newspaper that his decision to prevent the Interscope recording artist from appearing on campus was made “in line with school policy.”

As part of a contest sponsored by local radio station Mai FM, Auckland high schools were given the opportunity to compete for a chance to have The Game come speak to students on Wednesday (August 12) before his performance at the Logan Campbell Centre in the New Zealand capital.

While Papatoetoe High won the contest, Gall feels allowing Game to speak to the teens would spread the wrong message because of his criminal background and history.

“I understand that this fellow may have a bit of an unsavoury background,” Gall told the New Zealand Herald. “While I am very pleased and proud that we won the competition, I would doubt that we would take up the offer. I have nothing against him, but I am very much against what he has done in the past. It’s not right, it’s unhealthy.”

In addition to The Game’s openness about his gang ties, Kiwi school officials were put off by his admitted criminal activities when he was a high school student himself. The rapper, born Jayceon Taylor, claims that as a student, he sold crack cocaine and marijuana.

Officials were also concerned with Game’s most recent run in with the law, a 2008 incident during which he was accused of pulling a gun on an opponent during a pick up basketball game at the Rita Walters Educational Complex in Los Angeles.

He pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentenced to 60 days in jail, 150 hours of community service and three year’s probation.

The Game’s L.A.X. Tour made headlines last month when authorities in Rotorua, New Zealand announced they would have a significant presence at his August 15 show, to deal with potential gang violence.

Rotorua Police Commander Bruce Horne expressed the department’s disappointment that the show had been booked, saying that he understood why the community was concerned.

“We know from experience having these sorts of performers is not helpful in terms of community safety,” Horne added. “His message is a very bad one. He is certainly not someone I would be promoting as a role model for our young people. In fact, he is quite the opposite. He encourages them to get themselves into trouble.”

Despite all the controversy, Game, who performed five incident-free dates in Australia last week, tweeted about a hero’s welcome in New Zealand Tuesday (August 11).

“Just got the craziest welcoming in New Zealand,” he shared with his followers upon leaving the airport, “tribal dances & the whole 9 yards… damn, it feel good to be G.A.M.E.”

THE DAILY TWO SENSEJoe Budden wants to “square dance” with Raekwon. Cick here.

I don’t want anybody to die. I wrote an editorial that explains my point. Look for it later.

Now, I just added all that conspiracy stuff as food for thought. Its always good to spark some brain cells minus the use of drugs. It was not meant to take any shots at anybody in particular. So don’t apply the theories to me, because there was no undercurrent there.

Lastly, I know why Jay-Z is ignoring The Game, thus far at least…he’s getting down with Oprah! You cannot be engaged in a savage rap beef and be cool with the O!

Lastly, I want to introduce to you all MISS MOUTH! She is my new illseed assistant and a gossip chick. She’s been hitting me with rumors and stuff for some time and she’s stepped up. She’s going to be contributing regularly. This is sorta a trial period, but I think she’s going to stick around.

As a matter of fact, here is one of her rumors!

GUCCI MANE IN REHAB?

By Miss MouthSeems like there is some controversy over this rumor. I had this sucker up in July. SMH. – illseed

The legal affairs of Gucci Mane are enough for a full section on this site. It seems we are constantly trying to catch up with his arrests, court dates, probation violations and all sorts of other f***ery that is encompassed in the world of Gucci. A few weeks ago it was widely reported that Gucci had once again pee pee’d dirty on his probation test and therefore was again locked up. However while it was not true that he was in jail he did violate his probation and his lawyers had to work out some deal to keep him free.

Well I am hearing the deal they struck involves Gucci going to rehab for a period of 2 months. That is why we haven’t seen much of him on the concert tip and no new web videos. I’m told Gucci has been in the rehab facility in rural Georgia for the past week or so and will continue to be there for at least another month.

This guy is just crazy, in my opinion. It must be some insanely enticing weed this guy is getting his hands on for him to risk all this for it. Whatever it is I just know I want some of it…[Source: 24hourhiphop.com]

KANYE AND AMBER EXPECTING?

Man, Kanye and Amber are rumored to be having a child.

Why do I think this is pure bogus? All I know is these people just

start rumors out of nowhere. Apparently this rumors started from some

sort of dramatic lifestyle change by Amber. Did she stop drinking and

smoking? Seems that would cause a rumor or too…or maybe she just wants

to life clean? Anyway, Kanye…ahhhh…forget it. If there is something to

this, best wishes.

ONE OF AMERICA’S FAVORITE COMICS IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL?

Gosh. You know I have a weak space for stars personal business. On the real, I do. Now, that is why this will be a blind item. I got word that there is a major comedian that has been committed to a mental institution for about a week. This person reportedly was checked in or checked himself in, because of a touch of paranoia. The person seems to feel that there are people following him/her and out to get him/her. From my sources this person has basically stopped eating and only wants to chain smoke. The individual is under lock-n-key meaning has extra security measures surrounding them. DAG!

POP LIFE > THUG LIFE

Ja’s song aint so bad, but its no “Pop Life,” which is the classic song by Prince.

Shout out to J’Fuzion! Google the Prince version if you get a shot.

QUEEN LATIFAH? PAUL ABDUL’S REPLACEMENT!

Looks like Simon isn’t playing at all. What I am getting is that they are moving on replacing Paula really fast – straight up! Now, you know they aren’t playing when they pull Victoria Beckham out! Simon is reportedly very good friends with Vick and want her on the show. On the flip side, I heard she is merely a one-time, one show replacement – not for the whole season. Not too bad. Vicky can’t sing too well anyway. On the other side, I am hearing that Queen Latifah might be the one that will truly fill Paula’s seat. She’s got that kind-heatrted flavor going on too so it might work.

Paula’s got a lil’ trick up her sleave….rumor has it, she might go to “Dancing With The Stars.” You may not know, but she is an accomplished dancer that used to choreographed for the likes of Janet Jackson.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

You know what’s crazy? I keep hearing that Soulja Boy has a dope live show.

Drake is finished. He won’t be back on the America’s Most Wanted tour. He’s healing and chilling in Toronto.

Dj Lexx hit me up and wanted to know where J. Cole and why he wasn’t on the BP3 album with Jay?

There are rumors buzzing that “24,” the anti-terrorism show might be cancelled. Why? The show is expensive as heck to make. They are suggesting that it will be a pure business deal, because it is very popular.

Oopps! Jay-Z is going ot be in O magazine, not The Oprah Winfrey show. DAG, Oprah!

MISS MOUTH HAS MORE TO SAY!

Illseed Note: Miss Mouth is a handful!

“Nick Cannon” is such a flake. I agree with “Wendy Williams” he is less of a man for not being able to defend his wife against “Eminem’s” vicious attacks. Now he is claiming that her obsessed video is about him and not “Eminem.” She needs a divorce immediately. “Em” is such a bully, I hate him. Where was this fighting spirit when “Royce the 5’9” was getting in his ass or when that comedian sat on is face on national TV??? He is only good for beefing with female pop stars.

Basketball legend “Shaquille O’Neal” was in Hermosa Beach on Sunday for a volley ball game against Olympic Gold medalist “Misty May-Treanor.” As part of his upcoming reality TV show Shaq has vowed to walk two miles in a pink Speedo if he loses to “May-Treanor!”

Singer “Prince” is in the news due to a lawsuit he filed in June. “Prince” moved out of the home he rented in Beverly Hills, he left behind a $300,000 security deposit. “3121 Rep Inc.,” the company that claimed to have brokered the lease for “Prince,” has sued the owners to get the money back. But the owners say “Prince” made all the payments himself – “3121” was just an intermediary — so the money should go straight to him. Now the two sides are suing each other, with “Prince” caught in the middle – “3121” wants the money they says is theirs, the owners just want their attorney’s fees paid.

World Awards Media states that members of “Michael Jackson’s” family and a “high-profile lineup of international stars” are planning a tribute concert to be held within a few weeks in the Austrian capital. No date has been set, but a venue has been picked – Schoenbrunn Palace in Vienna. Also, after weeks of speculation regarding the burial site, “The King of Pop” has been laid to rest. He was buried in an unmarked plot at “Forest Lawn Memorial Park” in the Hollywood Hills over the weekend. According to recently leaked autopsy results the singer’s death was due to a lethal amount of powerful anesthetic Propofol in his system when he died.

Why is everyone tripping, I love “Solonge’s” new look.

Guess who’s back and fatter than ever? “American Idol” winner “Reuben Studdard” was seen in DC this past weekend. Those “Louie Bags” have been duplicated so much that even when one is ACTUALLY REAL it looks like a FAKE. I hate them!!! I’m more of a “Fendi” girl myself!!!

Rumors are swirling around the ATL that “Tiny” is dating boxer “Floyd Mayweather” while “TIP” is locked up. You don’t have to be a psychic to predict an asswhooping in her future. Allegedly “Mr. Money Maywether” himself attended her recent birthday party in “The A.”

Why is this “Kate” chick from “John & Kate Plus 8” getting so much press? Does she really deserve her own show when broads in the hood have been pushing out multiples & duplicates for years

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

According to the AP, a Florida man stands accused of downloading child p###. That is not the sign the world is ending. The sign is this fool attempting to blame is p#### cat. Dude is a rat and blamed his poor cat. Now, who is the p####? SMH. The dude claims that his cat downloaded the thousand-plus images of child p### on his computer. He says the cat “juxed” him when he was trying to download music. With the way the RIAA is going at cats, get it..cats? The way they are going at cats, he might be better off with the kiddie p###. Nevertheless, Keith Griffin of Jensen Beach faces 10 counts of possession of child pornography and is being held on $250,000 bond in the Martin County jail.EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY 2

Instead of doing a “Signs The World Is Coming To An End,” I am doing another fail.

Here is the video:

Here is the report from kfor.com:

A Racine woman says she was just “playing the game” when a cable reality show offered to pay for her wedding if she acted like an out of control bride for the cameras. Her acting may have this bridezilla playing the real life role of an inmate.

Most brides don’t want to be portrayed poorly like the ones featured on the show Bridezillas, but Karee Gibson says she was given the unique opportunity to appear on a reality TV show. Bridezillas follows the lives of engaged women, casting their busy schedules in an emphatic and sometimes humorous fashion.

Gibson said, “I thought it would be a nice opportunity for me to show my acting skills, cause I’ve always wanted to be an actress and also a way for my family to get some income to help me pay for my wedding.”

Gibson claims her bad behavior on the show was all an act. Gibson says, “I’m not like that at all and that’s why it was fun for me because I’m not like that at all and that’s why I’m getting so upset because everybody thinks I’m like that because I did such a good job acting and that’s not me.”

Her convincing appearance on the show could land her in jail. Gibson is on probation for a fight she got into in high school. Her probation officer says her behavior on Bridezillas is a violation of her parole.

The 21-year-old wife and mother has been ordered to report to the Racine County Jail Monday afternoon. Now her decision to appear on Bridezillas is one she regrets.

Her P.O. is a major HATER!

RANDOM QUOTES

“Damita Jo’s” ex boo “Jermaine Dupri” has broken his silence on what really made him part ways with “Island Def Jam” earlier this year. He claims that he will never do business with the company again. He blamed Def Jam’s inability to place confidence in his role as president as one of his underlying issues for leaving.

“They [weren’t] prepared for a person like myself. They [were] basically out for themselves. I never was on a team like that. I was always on a team that was supportive of what I wanted to do and this time it was more like ‘we need you to do this.’ People know me to create new artists [and to] continuously come with new people. Once I realized I was basically on my own in that building, I said ‘it’s time for me to get out of here.’ I saw the decline of Def Jam and I was just like ‘I don’t want to be a part of a sinking ship.’…[There’s] definitely hard feelings because I’m not cool with people stunting my growth. I’m a person that keeps growing. Everybody knows the history of Jermaine Dupri. Everybody knows what I’ve done from day one from one group to the next, it was all new artists and you have to continue doing that. If you get in the way of that you stunt that growth. They [have] bigger problems to deal with, I mean I’m not running around like ‘f*** Def Jam!’ I’m just saying I would not really deal with them ever again…It feels like it’s a resurgence of independent labels…It just feels like the right thing for me.” (The Boom Box)

Oprah On Jay-Z: ‘I Love Him’

Yesterday (August 9) Oprah Winfrey received a first-class tour of Brooklyn courtesy of a new friend in fellow mogul Jay-Z.

The pair visited several areas of Brooklyn, including Jay’s Marcy Project neighborhood, located in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The entire conversation/interview is expected to be showcased in an upcoming issue of Oprah’s O! Magazine.

Despite being previously criticized by 50 Cent and Ludacris for her views on Hip-Hop, Oprah had nothing but praise for Jay-Z following their 2 hour meeting.

Gayle King and Oprah admitted they argued over who loved Jay-Z more.

“I have some disagreements with the music. But I love him,” Oprah explained in a phone interview with friend Gayle King. “He was so charming and delightful and he smelled so good. It’s that kinda thing where you hug a guy and his scent is buried in him.”

A smitten joke aside, Oprah went on to place Jay-Z’s intellect alongside his music abilities, and is hopeful they will remain in contact.

“Everyone says how smart he is. He’s really gifted and talented,” she stated. “At the end of the day, I felt that I made a friend.”

Jay-Z’s much-anticipated Blueprint 3 album is set to be released on September 11.

There is speculation that Jay will make a follow-up in-studio appearance to further promote the album.

At press time, the print date for the Oprah/Jay-Z meeting has not been announced by O! Magazine.video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

Verdict In C-Murder Case Expected Today

Jurors could deliver a verdict in the manslaughter trial of rapper Corey “C-Murder” Miller as early as today (August 10).

The prosecution, as well as C-Murder’s defense attorney Ron Rakosky finished their closing arguments this morning in regards to the trial, which marks the second time Miller has been tried for allegedly killing 16-year-old Steve Thomas inside a now-defunct Jefferson Parish nightclub.

Thomas was shot and killed inside of the club on January 12, 2002. Prosecutors presented 13 witnesses, two who claimed to have seen Miller.

The defense sought a mistrial again today, claiming prosecutors again withheld information, after it was learned that they had reached a plea deal with a bouncer in return for testimony against Miller.

Prosecutors accuse Miller of being the triggerman that shot Thomas as he lay on the ground, being stomped and kicked by men wearing CP3 shirts – after the infamous Calliope Projects.

C-P-3.com is also the name of one of Miller’s albums, which was released in October 2001, just a month before the slaying.

Miller’s defense attorney Ron Rakosky presented no live witnesses, because they couldn’t be located or failed to show up in court to testify on behalf of the rapper, who is the younger brother of Percy “Master P” Miller and the uncle of teen actor Romeo Miller.

If convicted on the second-degree murder charge, Miller would face a mandatory life in prison. If convicted on lesser charges he stands to serve between 5-10 years for the shooting.

Another man named Juan Flowers took responsibility for Thomas’ murder. He has said under oath that he was the triggerman that shot Thomas.

Meanwhile, Miller is scheduled to be sentenced to 10-years in prison for an altercation at Club Raggs, in which the rapper was charged with attempted murder for trying to shoot at bouncers for attempting to search him, as he entered the club.

Miller will be sentenced in that case August 25.

According to Budden, the three previous album are build up to The Great Escape, which could be the rapper’s magnum-opus.

“Escape Route is a precursor to what may very well be the best Joe Budden album ever, The Great Escape,” Budden said. “It’s filled with the lyricism and passion that Joe Budden fans have come to love me for.”

Baby: The Evolution of Birdman

Listening to Bryan “Baby” Williams speak, you get a sense of a man who is at one with his inner and outer self. And if you’ve ever visited New Orleans, you’ll quickly see that he doesn’t lie when he tells you he is his city. He doesn’t ever get too agitated about any topic, even when it’s obvious he’s passionate about the subject. His laid-back Louisiana drawl, peppered with the signature drawn out “baaaby,” makes everything he talks about just seem cool and unforced. “Even the ease with which he refers to protege Lil Wayne as “his son” and expects everyone to know exactly who he is talking about. But at the same time, take one look at his track record and you know that he is a man about his business.

The more visible of the two brothers behind Cash Money Records, Baby made his major label debut as an artist as one half of the Big Tymers with Manny Fresh in 1997, six years after he had released his first and only independent album, I Need a Bag of Dope. Since then, he has consistently stayed in the limelight, with an uncanny longevity powered by appearances on hit after hit. Still, his success hasn’t come without its fair share of controversy.

The “5-Star Stunna” spoke to AllHipHop.com about what keeps him in the game.

AllHipHop.com: So what are we calling you these days?

Baby: I’m still Stunna, Birdman, whatever you feel. Baby, Bryan, whatever.

AllHipHop.com: We’re gonna call you Bryan today, is that okay?

Baby: That’s cool. Birdman would be even better. Bryan kinda more like… I don’t get to hear that a lot.

AllHipHop.com: Do you miss Bryan?

Baby: Really, I left Bryan about 20 years ago.

AllHipHop.com: Do you have days when you wish you could go back?

Baby: Not really, ‘cause Bryan lost a lot. So I try to keep moving. What I mean by lost [is] how I grew up. Somebody who grew up with me, they’ll know by Bryan. But besides that, I don’t really rock with it like that.

AllHipHop.com: Is there a difference between Birdman and Baby?

Baby: To me the names came with time and what we was doing. I always been Baby, that’s been like my real name. That’s all I ever knew is Baby, that’s what everybody call me. Birdman is just what you see on TV.

AllHipHop.com: So Baby is the evolution of what Bryan used to be?

Baby: Believe that.

AllHipHop.com: You’re about to drop your fourth solo album…

Baby: That’s my fourth one? It feel like more. I come from a group, so I look at all those albums too. It seem like a long time to just be done put four solo albums out.

AllHipHop.com: How is this one different from everything else that you’ve done?

Baby: I think everything we do, we try to grow with it. We wanna show progression and growth. That’s the only way, really, to survive. That’s the main reason why we survive: we show growth, we never dry, we try to be spicy, we try to be creative. With this album, ‘cause we been doing it so much, just tryna be creative, tryna stay above the rim. Growing. Still growing and letting the label grow; and us growing with the experience of life, we bring that to our music.

Birdman f/ Lil Wayne – “Always Strapped”

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

AllHipHop.com: When Cash Money first came on the scene, it was almost like adding a chapter to Hip-Hop history. You guys played a big role in bringing Southern Hip-Hop to the mainstream. All these years later, how do you keep the sound fresh?

Baby: Doing new stuff, not trying to do what we done did. We let the “Bling-bling” era go. That’s one thing we had to do. We had to let go what we already accomplished. You know everything you did last year don’t count for what you have to do this year. And our motivation is that we really have a love and a passion for what we do. My son wanna be the best, I wanna be the best at what I do. So, just having them ambitions and feeding our family and loving what we do… We don’t like to be like everybody else, we wanna be us, just in ourselves. And we know music. We been doing it a long time. We try to stay in the club with our music, that’s one thing we do. And just keep upgrading it every chance we get, and bring new talent in.

“We know Youngin’ [Lil Wayne] is a beast, and that’s well accepted. But when you look at it collectively, we doing a lot. If you look at it individually, you missing the whole picture.”

-Baby

AllHipHop.com: How much of a role do the people who work with you on the music play in keeping the sound fresh?

Baby: Nowadays, when people work with us, they bring their best. Back in the days, we used to bring the best out of people. Nowadays, people coming to you with they best and they be having beats for days. Everybody wanna work with you, that feel good. And everybody give you they best. It makes you wanna go that much harder when people feeling what you doing.

AllHipHop.com: Who worked with you on the new album?

Baby: My son Wayne, you know I don’t never work without him. I did a song with Lil’ Mack Maine, Drake. Just the family, I worked with people on our roster.

AllHipHop.com: How about on the production side?

Baby: Some new cats. Mr. Beats, that’s the one that did “Strapped.” I did one with Timbaland, Alchemist, Kevin Rudolph. Just some new people that we feel that’s hot. That’s something we always do.

AllHipHop.com: What do you think is gonna surprise people most when they hear the album?

Baby: Growth. People been following us so long. I don’t think if you progressing people not gonna [notice]. When you hear our music, you always hear better than the last one. That be our whole thing: to do it better every time. Just great music. We keep the foundation as what it is, and we just work around it and try to do better than what we did.

“And my son [Lil Wayne] and ‘em, they keep me youthful. And I don’t look old, you know. So I guess people might think I’m younger than what I am. I feel like I’m younger. I don’t ever feel to be getting old.”

-Baby

AllHipHop.com: When you mentioned the roster, you didn’t make a distinction between Young Money and Cash Money. We know they’re two separate entities, but do you consider them one and the same?

Baby: Of course. [Wayne] is my son. He the president of Cash Money Records, we do everything together.

AllHipHop.com: So who’s actually just on the Cash Money roster these days?

Baby: Of course Wayne, myself. G. Malone, Kevin Rudolph, Jay Sean, Ashley, Two Pistols, Lil’ All Star. A lot of new acts. The whole Young Money roster. We just tryna branch off into not just Hip-Hop. We wanna do crossover music. We growing. That’s the whole process with us. We have room to grow. Jay Sean has the biggest record out right now with Wayne, it’s called “Down.” He from London, he’s a pop act, real big. Kevin Rudolph had a big record out, “Let it Rock,” with him and Wayne. For us it’s just growing, being able to do different things and expand the label. I want Young Money to grow, we growing, and really be the biggest company dominating the industry.

AllHipHop.com: When you decided to expand outside of Hip-Hop, what made you specifically choose those two artists?

Baby: I really liked their talent. And I think for Young Money/Cash Money as a brand, we have to be into different music. That’s why you see Wayne doing records with different types of artists. As a whole, we have the luxury of working with different artists. And I think that’s a big motivation for us because we never worked pop acts and crossover. We only doing it now just as much as we into rap.

AllHipHop.com: What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned so far from navigating that arena?

Baby: I’m learning you have to have a system to work that music. We working with [Universal] Republic on that, and they have a great system. To me, it’s the same as rap, but it’s a different form. If music good, people gon’ tap into it; and that’s what we believe in. I think it’s about having artists who can be around; who got showmanship, not just in the studio. I believe in you still doing it in 10-20 years. And if you got it like that, you could be.

AllHipHop.com: How much longer do you think you have in the game as an artist?

Baby: My son [Lil Wayne] makes it a luxury for me: I can do it until I feel like [stopping].

AllHipHop.com: Have you thought about how much longer it’ll be before you move on to something else?

Baby: I’m just having fun. I mean, I’m always moving to something else. Just ‘cause I do this, doesn’t mean I don’t do that. With me doing the rap thing, I do it ‘cause I love it, I like going on the road. But that’s just one part of the hustle: I do the CEO thing, I do movies, we into everything. For us to grow, Young Money gon’ grow and everything that’s attached to us. And that’s why we doing this. We wanna be the best to ever do it.

Lil Wayne f/ Birdman – “Leather So Soft”

AllHipHop.com: We all know you ain’t 20. You came into the game already a seasoned individual with your life experiences, and now you’ve been in music in the public eye for the last 15 years. Obviously there’s a history behind it and you didn’t start at 12 like Wayne. But for some reason, you don’t get as much flack about your age as some other rappers do. Why do you think that is?

Baby: Maybe ‘cause they really don’t know. And my son [Lil Wayne] and ‘em, they keep me youthful. And I don’t look old, you know. So I guess people might think I’m younger than what I am. I feel like I’m younger. I don’t ever feel to be getting old. I don’t ever wanna feel like I’m old. And I don’t think I’m old. I run with my children. And I been doing it 21 years. I started when I was 18 turning 19.

AllHipHop.com: Coming from that standpoint, as an artist and as someone who could catch some of that criticism, do you feel like there’s an age limit to being an artist?

Baby: Nah. Never that. Look at Jay-Z and Dr. Dre.

AllHipHop.com: Right! But people are getting on Jay constantly these days. He even made the jab at himself. People do look at it, and Hip-Hop culture doesn’t seem to want to see people get older. Do you feel like there’s a time limit on how long you can make a certain type of music even?

Baby: To me, long as you making money in it, it doesn’t matter. If you ain’t making no money, you ain’t doing nothing but talking. If you making money, who could say anything if you’re progressing. To me, money makes sense.

AllHipHop.com: Do you feel like the Young Money brand takes away from what you’re doing on the Cash Money side?

Baby: No indeed baby, we one. I’m so proud of my son and what he doing. We the machine behind the brand. I wanna see it be as big as possible. I want my son to do better than what I did. That’s the plan. That’s why he took over, to do what he doing. The bigger he is, the bigger we is. I’ll never look at it like that. I wouldn’t be a father, I wouldn’t be a business partner, I don’t even think I’d be a man if I wouldn’t accept whatever goes on with my child.

AllHipHop.com: How involved are you in the day-to-day operations when it comes to Young Money?

Baby: We involved with each other day-to-day, every day, ‘cause we partners. Cash Money, we work the records together. We in the studio. That’s just what it do. It’s blood forever.

AllHipHop.com: Across the board, with most of your artists being newer artists, who are you most excited about?

Baby: I’m real excited about all my acts, I ain’t gonna say no one particular act. Some just be hotter than others. I wanna make all my acts, that’s what it’s about. But every act ain’t gonna shine like the others. But if we work together as a family, when one shining, we all shine. That’s how I came in the game, on family. That’s how Imma be in the game. That’s what I thought my son. Family morals, loyalty and love: that goes father than anything.

Birdman F/ Clipse – “What Happened To That Boy”

AllHipHop.com: When you’re album was originally scheduled to come out on August 11, were you still planning on releasing Drake, Wayne and the Young Money album around the same time?

Baby: I thought it would be something I wanted to do, we never did it. It’s a coincidence that all our records popped at the same time, ‘cause some of them been out longer than others, and they just rolled over like that. Honestly [the albums] should be out right now ‘cause the singles are number one. But we wanted to do more than one song on these albums. Young Money new, Drake new. So we wanted to give them as much vision as possible and bring them on a few tours. So everything worked out.

AllHipHop.com: Are the albums gonna be spaced out?

Baby: They’re gonna be about two weeks apart. Except the Young Money and Lil’ Wayne albums, those probably come out the same day.

AllHipHop.com: And do you think there’s enough of a demand to have you guys saturate the market like that? Because we’ve seen other labels, especially those run by an artist, try that method. And they’re marquee artist always outshines the others.

Baby: I never had the same problems as other labels. We going for it. We dropping a house on everything. We know Youngin’ [Lil Wayne] is a beast, and that’s well accepted. But when you look at it collectively, we doing a lot. If you look at it individually, you missing the whole picture. We look at it as a bloodline. When you look at our numbers, look at the whole picture. Look at everything we done accomplished. We building a team.Birdman…The Saga Continues

Snoop’s Cussing Causes Uproar In UK; Network Apologizes

British TV channel 4Music has tightened its broadcasting procedures, after an unedited version of Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood reality show aired on the network.

Box Television operates the popular 4Music channel, which airs Snoop’s reality series Father Hood in the United Kingdom.

The show features Snoop, born Calvin Broadus Jr. and his wife Shante, as well as their children Corde (14), Cordell (12) and Cori (9) and cast of other characters.

Father Hood focuses on Snoop Dogg’s domestic life, as opposed to his career as a world famous rap star who has been banned from Australia and the United Kingdom.

Network watchdog Ofcom received hundreds of complaint when an unedited episode aired featuring the chart-topping rapper using the F-word twice during the show.

Ofcom said viewers were very offended by Snoop’s unedited foul language and apologized for the mishap, claiming human error was to blame, as the wrong version was entered into the programming schedule.

4Music aired two apologies for running the unedited version of Father Hood, which Ofcom deemed appropriate, allowing the network to avoid any further penalties.

“Ofcom notes that the broadcast of this language on this occasion occurred as a result of human error,” the organization wrote in its ruling. “While we have concerns about the broadcast of this material, in light of the actions taken by the broadcaster and its good compliance record in this area Ofcom considers this matter resolved.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Bow Wow Going Crazy? Raekwon Looking For Peace? Ja Rule’s Beef With Prince!

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

Am I wrong for wishing somebody would get killed? I mean, it just doesn’t seem like Hip-Hop gets it until somebody gets killed.

WU TANG’S WEST COAST ISSUES?

I told you yesterday that it was about to get very serious yesterday with regard to Raekwon and the whole punching of Joe Budden yesterday. Well, Rae is now spends a lot of time over on the West Coast. I am hopeful that nothing escalates into more drama, but I have been told that a lot of energy was invested on Sunday to ensure that it didn’t. We already know that it almost popped off in a special way on Saturday. The police that were called to the Rock The Bells show were fully aware of the situation that occurred. What is funny is, I think the cops were happy the drama popped off, because they got a free show. But, their work may not be done. I heard peace talks have continued, because some folks are still upset that this happened on Crooked I’s “turf.” We shall see!

BOW WOW GOING CRAZY?

This is a true rumor, but am I hearing that Bow Wow may be losing a bit of his touch with reality. People have been telling me that he is not acting right. From what I understand, he is doing a lot of live streams and just isn’t acting right. He’s also apparently returning to Hip-Hop after proclaiming his retirement about a zillion times in the past three years.

JA RULE’S BEEF PRINCE

Did you know that Ja Rule had a beef with Prince? LOL! This is what happened…back in the day, around the time of Ja’s first CD, he tried to sample Prince. Well, you know Prince is real serious about his music and he’s not playing that sampling stuff. LOL. So, he denied Ja Rule and Murder Inc the opportunity to sample him. Ja Rule still holds a grudge to this day, from what I heard.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

What did 50 Cent mean when he told Diddy, “Don’t make me tell you what Misa told me.’

Diddy’s new CD has been pushed back to next year, I think.

Young Jeezy, Drake, and Soulja Boy were missing in action at a recent tour date in Virgina. Fortunately, Lil Wayne was there and he rocked it. Still, people wanted to know what happened to the others. Drake also missed the Raleigh, NC, but not SB or Jeezy. Shout out P and Anthony!

I am hearing that there are a pair of big name rappers that are looking to recover Brisco’s jewels. Guess who!?

This might be old news, but its new to me. 50 Cent gave Soulja boy a tour bus with a studio in it. I am, sure that is going to make his haters hate even more now.

Alfamega has been dissing T.I., but I would like to recommend that he wait until T.I. is out of jail to continue.

I am hearing that Paula Abdul is quietly working on a settlement with “American Idol.” She “quit” as a bartering tool. But, I heard “Idol” is looking for a new fourth person. Angie Martinez!

OPRAH TOOK A TRIP TO BK…ESCORTED BY JAY-Z

Recently, Oprah took the time out of her life to go and put Jay-Z on her show. Well here are the pictures of the episode, which were shot right on Jay-Z’s Grandmom’s stoop. Word up, son.

I wonder what made them make this screw face?

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY…

Micky Factz was present as all of this drama unfolded. But, when Joe got punched nobody did anything. I don’t know if Micky is a true “Epic Fail of the Day,” but somehow I just feel he should have been more “engaged.” I don’t know exactly what I would have done, but if my homey gets hit, its like we all go down together. EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY 2

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

I love how America looks at other nations like “They are so uncivilized.” BUT, looking at our own backyards, we tend to think its all good with the exception of a few rotten apples. Peep this rotten apple i got from my official unofficially best friend Kellz of Cali:

A boy is dead and they are alleging that his stepfather did it. This boy was a mere 6 years old when he was beaten to death. On top of it all, there were over a dozen complaints to the L.A. County abuse hotline. All for nothing. Dae’von Bailey is dead now and when he was murdered they found bruising and trauma all over his little body. He was a well-behaved and sweet boy according to reports. LAPD investigators are now looking for the boy’s stepfather as “a person of interest,” but that dude isn’t that dumb. He’s M.I.A. He’s not been formally accused, But Marcas Fisher, 36, is a wanted man, especially since he bolted before the cops arrived. The cops are looking for him, but if there weren’t so many break downs in the system, he wouldn’t be dead now. When 12 complaints are levied and nothing happens, that’s a sign for you’re a**!!!!!!

POLICE SLAM AND 80-SOMETHING YEAR OLD WOMAN

I know she had a knife, but somehow, I think this could have been handled differently.

DAMN, EDDIE MURPHY!

I don’t know, but this might be a fail. Eddie’s beautiful daughter…oh well, just look at the pictures.

CHECK THIS OUT! PUPPET MASTERS AT WORK!

Are the puppet masters really working? Check it out…
