Mary J. Blige, Big Boi Tackle Foreclosure Crisis

Hip-Hop soul icon Mary J. Blige and Outkast’s Big Boi stopped in Atlanta this past Saturday (April 18) to raise awareness on the nation’s foreclosure crisis.

The stars joined the “Bringing the HOPE Home” tour bus, which is currently embarked on a four-city, foreclosure prevention tour.

At each stop, the HOPE campaign offers troubled homeowners the option to review their situations with housing counselors and mortgage lenders.

At the Atlanta event, an excess of 20 counseling agencies and lenders came together to supply an estimated 3300 families with free counseling sessions.

As a non-judicial foreclosure state, Georgia has remained one the highest foreclosure states in the nation, primarily due to Atlanta’s housing market.

“Foreclosure rates in Atlanta have risen drastically in recent years,” explained Mary J. Blige. “So I want to do what I can to help educate people about the options available to them to help keep their homes. They have to know where to go to ask for help. But most importantly, they need to know that they have to ask.”

Six-time Grammy winner Big Boi agreed, and elaborated that many homeowners make the fatal mistake of waiting until the foreclosure process has begun before seeking assistance.

“There are too many resources available for this to continue happening to families in Atlanta,” he stated. “That’s what this bus tour is about; making sure the people here know that too.”

At press time, the bus tour is scheduled to make two more stops in Miami and Cleveland.

Rapper Treach Starring In Anti-Gang Flick

Naughty by Nature group member Treach recently shot scenes for a new movie titled Think Twice, Little Gangsta.

According to New Jersey’s Herald News, Treach, Ruff Ryders Records’ President Walt Rogers and other local rappers participated in the film, which was also partially shot in Los Angeles.

In Think Twice Little Gangsta a gang is attempting to kill one of its own members.

The plan goes awry when they miss their mark during an anti-violence rally and instead, kill an innocent child.

The two-hour film is being directed by Jamie Bland.

A release date was not available as of press time.

Naughty By Nature is working on a new album titled Anthem, Inc.

“It’s all about when the album is done, to be honest with you,” producer DJ Kay Gee told AllHipHop.com about the album’s release date in a previous interview.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Transgender Claims Affair With Chingy! Kanye & Amber=Over!? Rick Ross Vs Eminem?

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

WILL ROSS GO AFTER EMINEM?

Rick Ross is looking pretty good with this new album called Deeper Than Rap, but will his go crazy and diss Eminem? In a recent video, he said:

“50, you’re boring me. I might have to get at Eminem now. I don’t know. Eminem, I’m a big fan of yours, but your monkey – your pet monkey – is boring me. I thought he was a goon, I thought he was real.”

In an interview, Ross said that Em’s “swag ain’t the same.”

Well, well, well. Wouldn’t that be interesting? I don’t think Eminem wants any sort of beef. Not that I know. He just doesn’t seem to be all that crazy. And, for what its worth, Ross doesn’t really need any probs with Em, because lyrically, Em is a bomb.

CHRIS BROWN’S LAMBO PROBS

Chris Brown sure has issues, but his issues are not that of Scott Storch. Anyway, somebody hit me up and told me he was down on Lowery Rd. in Norfolk, Va and they spotted something. There was an Escalade parked in the turning lane with its emergency lights on. So they passed annoyed obviously and little to behold – they saw a blue Lamborghini. So they just thought they were admiring the car until the male in the car looked closer and saw that it was Chris Brown! I heard C. Breezy was on the phone with someone looking petrified or embarrassed. Apparently it was hard to tell exactly what his emotion was. Apparently, the Lambo was having problems and was waiting to be towed! You gotta get that oil changed! Every 3,000 miles, people! Anyway,Chris’ handlers were not having any pictures being taken so we don’t have any of note to share.

FLESH-N-BONE TO GET OFF?

Here is some information I have that I hope will serve as good news to fans of Bone Thugs and Flesh N Bone. As you know, Flesh has an issue with a gun case. Late last week, he went to court. Apparently ( I don’t know if this is common knowledge or not) the gun belongs to Flesh’s wife (who is a Chicago police officer). That’s interesting! Contrary to reports, the gun was found in a closet inside a locked case, not inside of a car with Flesh. Upon further investigation it has come to light that the cops used a saw to cut open the locked case during the search, which was illegal. This sounds crazy! Due to the illegal search Santa Mira district attorney is looking to drop the case against Flesh, but needs until Monday. WOW.

T.I. TAKES IN A GAME

T.I. is not in jail yet!! The rapper was spotted at the ATL Hawks game just last night as they smashed on the Heat. In the first quarter of the game they zoom into the coach who happens to be standing right in front of T.I. Tip has floor seats towards the left side of the screen just behind the judges/commentators wall. Shout out to T to the I.

KANYE AND AMBER ARE OVER…ALLEGEDLY!

This is the latest gossip. I heard they were finito, but I got this from theybf.com and they are “confirming” more than what I heard.

“…the whole week she complained about how turned off she was about Kanye and the only reason she is still with him is to stack up money for her and her ex-girlfriend to have a better life together and hopefully get her career on the rise. She said Kanye is a nympho when it comes to sex and she constantly feels like a big old ape is on her back when they have sex.

When I asked Amber what did she tell Kanye she was back in Philly for, she said she told him “she was visiting her family and friends”. Kanye was blowing up her phone and calling and texting her at least twice an hour trying to figure out what she was doing. I noticed because I saw her constantly looking at her phone and turning away in disgust saying “look at this s###” and then turning to her ex-girlfriend and telling her how much she loves her and not Kanye. And that she is doing this for them.”

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

Go to cnn.com for the full story, but this is another doozie. A man kills his whole family. Amazingly depressing.

(CNN) — A Maryland man believed to have shot and stabbed his wife and three young children to death before killing himself with a shotgun was having money problems and left a note saying he suffered from “psychological issues,” authorities said.

Five people, including three young children, were found dead in this house in Middletown, Maryland. Five people, including three young children, were found dead in this house in Middletown, Maryland.

The man that did it was a mere 34. The people he killed were 33 (wife), 2 (daughter) and a pair of sons, 4 and 5. What the hell!? The man killed himself with a gunshot wound. Dude had mental issues, but there were also so money problems as well. Sad.

CHINGY SLEEPS WITH A WHAT?!

Don’t get mad at me for this one. There is a transgender person named Foxxjazell that is claiming that she slept with Chingy. Wow. I mean, I don’t even know what to say about this one. Oh lord… Foxxjazell says Chingy…Just watch the video and listen. St. Louis!

Triple C’s: Rolling with the Bawse (Rick Ross)

A general knows the value of good

soldiers. In recent months, Rick Ross’ Triple C’s (Carol City Cartle) have

served the Miami native well in his lyrical and sometimes personal war with 50

Cent. Additionally, the duo (Torch & Gunplay) has done their best to

deflect criticism on Ross’ character in light of their mentor finally admitting

to being corrections officer.

Now after the positive buzz of

their street single “Yams” and a newly inked Def Jam contract, Triple C’s have

their sights set on lifting themselves from mere street soldiers to power

players in the game. With roots in both NY and Florida, the group’s aspirations

extend beyond achieving regional popularity.

AllHipHop.com: Those throughout the Miami area understand the

significance of your group name. But explain to the uninitiated why you

selected it and what it represents in regards to the overall direction of your

music.

Torch: It represents the territory [and] the crew [that]

originated from Carol City in Miami. But it has 20 different meanings: Close

Casket Capital, Cashing Checks Constant, Custom Cars & Cycles, and

Constantly Cookin’ Classics just to name a few. I’m from the Bronx, NY so this

ain’t just a Southern movement. It’s a worldwide situation.

Gunplay: Carol City

Cartel is a name repping for those dead or in jail behind real hood issues.

Dope, money, [and] respect.

Triple C’s “Yams” Video

AllHipHop.com: Hip-Hop, at least mainstream wise, appears to be moving

away from the grittier edge of gangsta rap. Even Rick Ross is incorporating

more melodic and radio-friendly tracks onto his new LP. Do you both feel that

you’ll have to make those concessions for your Def Jam debut?

Torch: We make good music, that’s what we do. This ain’t

ringtone rap; they just embrace our music so much they end up making ringtones

out of it. We don’t go into the studio thinking about mainstream radio or

trying to be “gangsta.” We just tell it how it is. For example our first single

“Yams,” that’s a street smash. It’s going mainstream and that wouldn’t be the

record you would usually hear on radio but the streets determine what you hear.

Gunplay: Hip-Hop is not getting away from the gritty side,

[but] the artists are. Hip-Hop loves the hood. Hip-Hop also loves to see

artists grow. That’s when they get away from the gritty side. Hip-Hop will

always be ghetto. That’s where it started.

“Ain’t nobody over there making good music, [or]

matter of fact, music at all. [It’s] just interviews, cartoons, and skits, the

Curly Springer Show.” —Torch

AllHipHop.com: Both of you have solo mixtapes and endeavors along with your Triple

C’s work. How difficult is it to adhere to a group format when both of you are

capable solo artists?

Torch: Not hard at all. We grew up together with this

music. We compliment each other’s styles so well it’s crazy. Me and Gun [are]

night and day. The music balances out so well that even on our solo albums you

should expect to see a lot of us featuring each other on them. Triple C’s Amerika’s

Most Wanted coming late Summer than

Gunplay solo Kill Switch. That

my solo joint Human Heroin

coming because I’m that boy! You look out for that.

Gunplay: We’ve been

a group for so long we mesh together great. Teamwork makes the dream work. We

all had solo intention from jump. Ross spearheaded the movement in order for

solo projects to come about.

Gunplay “How Ya Like Me Know” Video

AllHipHop.com: You’ve supported Rick Ross during his feud with 50 Cent.

Have you guys observed actions from either your camp or your rivals that you

feel crossed the lines of rap battle etiquette?

Torch: Ninety-five percent of that s**t

crossed the line. The f**ked up thing is these n****s ain’t killing nothing and

letting nothing die. N****s beefing with half the industry and you never hear

nothing come out of it but threats. Before the beef they was irrelevant and

when it’s all said and done they’ll be irrelevant again. Ain’t nobody over

there making good music, [or] matter of fact, music at all. [It’s] just

interviews, cartoons, and skits, the Curly Springer Show.

Gunplay : Of course

lines [have] been crossed. But that’s war. I’m happy it’s only entertainment.

The only things getting hurt are my fingers from typing so much. My guns don’t

get dusty. We can knock each other off at any time. Neither side really wants

that. This is a competitive business. I’m actually flattered that a Fortune 500

n***a is paying us attention. You got to beat the best to be the best, right?

“I can spot a fake n***a in the dark. Real

recognize real. You couldn’t talk about it if you ain’t live it. Ross says s**t

the world can relate to.” —Gunplay

AllHipHop.com: Ross recently acknowledged his past as a corrections

officer. Both of you have worked extensively with him on mixtapes and his

forthcoming album. Do either of you feel his initial, vehement denials damage

his integrity as an artist, do you feel it has no merit on his art?

Torch: Ross been a real n***a since the day I

met him and he’s going to be a real n***a until the day I die. Integrity? Not

at all. We [are] about that real. Try tricks and I’ll make you a believer

quick. The crazy s**t is the n***a pointing the fingers is a reputed snitch and

the whole world knows it! So does it affect his music? No! He is an incredible

artist that makes hit records!

Gunplay: I can spot

a fake n***a in the dark. Real recognize real. You couldn’t talk about it if

you ain’t live it. Ross says s**t the world can relate to. He talks about

issues n****s in the hood go through. At the end of the day that’s all the

merit you need, jack!

Torch “Careful What You Wish

For” Video

AllHipHop.com: Recently, 50 released a sex tape of Ross’ child’s mother

on a customized website. Does your camp plan to up the ante with similar

tactics or focus on handling the conflict through traditional lyrical means?

Torch: That’s somebody mother, man. That’s

crab sh*t. I ain’t really got no words for that. That goes hand and hand with

filming a n***a’s moms! And everybody knows lyrically our camp is killing them!

I don’t make Internet threats, n****s know what it is.

Gunplay: All we got

to do is make music to up the ante. We’ll be lowering ourselves to their level

by using those type of tactics. They can’t make good music anymore. They’re

forced to go that route. I don’t blame them. We revived their careers. They’re

trying to end ours. Look at the thanks we get [laughs].

AllHipHop.com: Outline for everyone what they can expect from Triple C in

2009 after Rick Ross’ Deeper Than Rap drops.

Torch: I got the mixtape bubbling Ski Mask

Music Volume 1 in the

streets right now that’s project platinum. People can download it for free at www.torchisny.com. Volume 2 [is] coming soon. I got a Streets

Is Watching type DVD

that’s about to drop in June. We just shot about 20 videos [for] Amerika’s

Most Wanted coming late

Summer featuring the smash single “Yams.” We shot a little street video you can

see but the real coming soon. I’m finishing up my solo project Human Heroin and than you look out for Specialyst,

that’s the hardest n****s coming out of NY.

Shout out to

the whole Maybach Music Group coming to Masspike Miles, Magazine Duece Pounn,

Young Breed, Scotty Boi, and the whole Haitian Magia. ’09 is ours. We’re

working on 2010 now. Shout to the whole BX, free Dolla Bill, free Hocus, [and]

free S-One!

Gunplay: Rick Ross’ Deeper Than Rap April 21. Triple C’s debut album Amerika’s Most Wanted on Maybach Music/Def Jam. Gunplay solo debut album Kill

Switch. Torch solo album Human Heroin. Don’t let me kill nobody, man. I ain’t come this far to

go to prison, jack! Gunplay is self-explanatory.

Florida Rap Stars Unite for Young Leukemia Patient

Jasmina Anema’s search to find a bone marrow donor is striking a chord among Florida-based entertainers and athletes, who have united to help the six-year-old leukemia patient.

Rappers Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, Pitbull and Flo-Rida are among the celebrities lending their support and assistance to a special event in honor of Anema.

The event is scheduled to take place from 1p.m. to 8 p.m. April 26 at the 163rd Street Mall, 1205 NW 163rd Street, North Miami.

Media sources report that a bone marrow donor is needed for Jasmina, who has just weeks to live after being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukemia.

Organized by original Fat Boys member Prince Markie Dee’s Labor of Love Foundation, 103.5 The Beat, the Community Blood Centers of South Florida and AllHipHop.com, the event hopes to draw find those who stand a chance of being a match for Jasmina.

In addition to Ross, Trick Daddy and Flo-Rida, the event will include appearances from R&B/pop crooner Sean Kingston and Uncle Louie, as well as Ricky Williams of the Miami Dolphins and Ricky Davis of the Miami Heat.

Fans will be able to donate blood to the Centers at mobile blood banks as well as visit a tent set up at the Mall to see if they are a match for Jasmina.

The six-year-old’s plight has garnered attention from the media and celebrities, which range from singers Rihanna and Kelly Rowland to supermodel/lifestyle designer Kathy Ireland.

Last month, Rowland helped celebrate Jasmina’s sixth birthday by paying a visit to her at NYU Medical Center.

Rihanna followed suit earlier this month as she surprised Jasmina, an admitted fan of the songbird. Since learning about Jasmina, Rihanna has been active in helping the young girl.

In February, the singer appealed for donors on behalf of Jasmina. The effort drew more than 4,000 donors.

Those attending the April 26 event will be treated to free drinks, snacks and pizza as well as a goody bag filled with a free T-shirt and free tickets to the Improv Comedy Club.

Autograph signings, celebrity photo sessions and a raffle for two free five-day/four- night Orlando vacations are also slated to take place with more giveaways to be announced in the days leading up to the event.

NYU Backs Founding of Hip-Hop Education Center

NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development have confirmed a partnership with the Hip-Hop Association (H2A) to launch the Hip-Hop Education (H2Ed) Center for Research, Evaluation, and Professional Development.

The H2Ed Center aims to ignite education reform by uniting national art programs and educational institutions for the purpose of the study and teaching of Hip-Hop culture.

Overseeing this endeavor will be a select advisory committee of educators, scholars, artists, and administrators who’ll form a reliable think tank to keep abreast of new developments and challenges within the culture.

The H2Ed Center will utilize the annual HHEAL (Hip-Hop Educates and Advances Lives) Festival as its signature showcase.

Last April, the festival conducted a 2 day seminar featuring panels and workshops on Hip-Hop’s viability as an instrument for social change and human rights.

This year, HHEAL plans to add inspirational films and motivational speakers to the event. With the H2Ed now a reality, Hip-Hop Association President Martha Diaz argues Hip-Hop culture must continue to expand its voice beyond entertainment and consumerism.

“Hip-Hop culture is an undeniable force that must be examined further in order to bring credence to this new field of education practice that is gaining traction,” Diaz told AllHipHop.com. “Creating the center has been both arduous and rewarding. We needed a space to conduct expert research, cultivate leadership, and create an archive that validates the work we do. With our academic supporters at NYU, we made it happen.”
