Max B: “I Can’t Believe a Lie Would’ve Went So Far”

With an inevitable long jail sentence pending next month, Harlem rapper Max B has reached out to AllHipHop.com to maintain his innocence and reveal his future music plans.

On June 9, Max B (Charly Wingate) was found guilty on 9 counts of felony murder and conspiracy charges in the robbery and death of David Taylor.

“Personally, I am looking forward to clearing my name,” Max B told AllHipHop.com in exclusive interview. “[With my pending appeal] after that I can then look forward to the future. I just can’t believe a lie would’ve went so far.”

Even though it was a street dispute that’s resulted in his predicament, Max B assured fans his lifestyle will not be altered because of the guilty verdict.

“Just staying focused. That’s the movement right now,” Max explained. “That’s the movement right now. Trying to hit the streets with that Wave, making sure my manager, The Harlem Matriarch, keeps me in the loop. That goes without saying, they can’t keep the Vel. The streets need me!”

Ex-girlfriend Gina Conway’s testimony is the main reason Max will likely receive a life sentence.

Despite this, the Harlemite remains jovial when asked how he would’ve handled the situation differently.

“No, I never anticipated that my girl would lie on me based on jealousy over another woman,” he stated. “She felt that if she couldn’t have the Vel, no other girl would. I understand her strategy, but Bigavel wasn’t diggin’ it. If I could change one thing, I would have remained a Bachelor! (laughing).”

While everything plays out, Max B verified the new music projects fans can expect in the coming months.

“I spend every day of my life creating music, running out isn’t even a possibility,” Max detailed. “Look for Vigilante Season coming soon on Amalgam Digital and Max B Presents// OFO & Harlem Matriarch Music Presents: H.O.T. (Harlem On top) Pt. 3 ‘FREE MAX B.’”

When asked about Jim Jones, Max stated their relationship remained the same, and that he is mentally ready to spend the rest of his life in prison if appeals fail.

“That’s here nor there; I’m solely focused on my appeal. But ain’t sh*t changed [with Jim Jones],” Max clarified. “If it came to it [a life sentence], nothing can hold “The Bigavel” down but in this case that’s not a concern.”

Max B will be sentenced by a judge on July 30.

He faces a maximum punishment of life in prison.

DID SHAWNNA GET MAD AT NICKI?

Nicki reads me. Now, that is something that I like to hear. Anyway, a rep for Nicki Minaj hit me up and let me know the real deal. So, as it goes on, it seems that the promoters wanted Nicki to close the show, which also featured DTP’s Shawnna. It would seem that Shawnna felt some type of way because she’s the vet in this case. Love Nicki, but she hasn’t even dropped a CD yet. So, Nicki ain’t mad. I don’t know of Shawnna is mad at the promoters or Nicki or nobody. I guess we’ll see.

Speaking of Nicki…Kanye’s girl loves Nicki…it sounds, more than ‘Ye! Looks like Amber is putting it all out there.

50 CENT TO DISS LIL WAYNE?

So DJ Whoo Kid has indicated that 50 Cent is likely going to go after Lil Wayne when it is time to promote the album. Huhm? Well, Whoo Kid never truly said who 50 Cent was going to diss. He only said, “Somebody’s got to get buried.” I took that as 50 will be dissing somebody as he gets ready to drop. At least they are admitting is just a sales ploy. 50 went at Wayne and it didn’t pop.

Also, just yesterday 50 Cent was in NY filming a new video for the song with Dr. Dre. I really didn’t hear anything about it other than that.

SOMEBODY GOT FIRED?

You heard about Charlamagne dissing Cassie on the radio, right? Well, according to my girl Necole Bitchie, that lil episode got somebody fired. When Cassie and Red Café were at the radio station, there was a Bad Boy Records or maybe Atlantic rep (whoever the parent company is) with them and that person has been suspended without pay. He/she was dissed for letting Charlamagne diss Diddy’s girl and Diddy right there like that. What the heck was that person thinking? SMH.

GUCCI VS JEEZY?

I heard that Jeezy and Gucci have a couple shows together this weekend. There is the one “Summer Jam” type of concert and another that I don’t know anything about. All I can say is I heard from a radio person that Jeezy is going to go in on Gucci at one of the shows. I don’t get it. Why they have to go back over this again. This beef was not good for anybody. I hope they stop before somebody gets hurt.

AUNT BIV DISSING WILL SMITH?

Word is the first Aunt Viv from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air is writing a tell-all book that’s rumored to be exposing Will Smith of preventing others from outshining him…

According to BVBuzz, this is what Aunt Biv is saying:

“Smith had people around him who made sure no one outshone him. I was happy to see Don Cheadle become the quality actor that he is, and often wondered how he made it past one episode, as Hilary’s boyfriend, being such a fierce actor. No one could be on The Tonight Show, that first season, except Will. And I mean no one.”

“I recall the lovely and incredibly talented Countess Vaughn coming to guest star. Oh my God! The day of table read, she was pee-in-your-pants funny. The writers were howling, we were howling, so I knew she was history – banished into the cornfield. Many years later, after she had her own show, I had to tell her when she asked me why. ‘Miss Janet why did I get cut from the episode,’ she asked? Simply, my darling, you were too good.”

DID THE BEYONCE MOB ATTACK AGAIN?

I hope this isn’t true! But they are saying that Matthew Knowles and Beyonce are making heavy-handed and concerted attempts to stop LeToya from performing at the BET Awards! I don’t know all of what went down with that but it just seems mean. Hope this is false. This is what was said on WPGC down in Maryland.

Dj Flexx asked: “Let’s just say that it’s true, how does it make you feel that Matthew would go so hard at you to get you off the show?”

LeToya: “It saddens me a little. Because our situation happened close to 10 years ago, and I think as we all know Bey is a very very very talented artist, and I think that we both have our own lanes and fanbase, and I don’t see why I would have to be one of the ones picked out of the entire crew of females that will be hitting the stage that night. I don’t know… I’m gonna try and word this right… I just don’t understand why I’m picked outta that group because there are so many other female artists performin’ that night and I think we all deserve to have a chance at that stage. Everybody works hard and we all have something different to offer, from Keyshia to Keri to Bey, everybody is different in their own ways so it saddens me if that’s true, and I hope that’s not the case but I’ll be there regardless”.

DRAKE IS WORKING WITH THE NEPTUNES

I got this off the IC and they are saying Drake and The N.E.R.D.Y. dudes are working together.

DID TIMBALAND FIND HIS “KANYE?”

I am hearing that Timbaland is in Dubai with a new artist named Tokin Black Guy. They both came to a Dubai radio show and played a few songs from Tokin Black Guys project. From what I heard the songs are amazing, with production by Timbaland. From what I understand, Tim and TBG are in Dubai for the next week or so finishing up the album. 50 Cent is supposed to be working with Tim real heavy too. He’s a busy guy!

MORGAN FREEMAN HAS AN AFFAIR WITH STEP-GRANDDAUGHTER?

According to the National Inquirer doesn’t have the best reputation for good reporting, but the fact is…they have broken significant stories in the past few years. John Edwards, holla! At any rate, an unnamed source has dimed out Morgan Freeman, saying that his divorce from his wife of 25 years was due to a 10 year affair with his 27-year-old step-granddaughter. OH BOY. The crazy thing is, they are also saying that his relationship with this step-grandkid is the reason he and his mistress were also broken up. Morgan is 72 and I want him to act his age! Seriously, I hope the legend has been acting appropriately and this is a bad rumor. Ummmmm…I cant write anymore.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

I cannot believe the madness that I am hearing. I got this off of Greasy Guide and just couldn’t believe what I read.

PETA has filed a complaint against Barack Obama for swatting a fly. Obama swatted and killed a fly while he was having an interview on CNBC. PETA saw this action as a mean to get some press and is even calling it an ” execution of a fly

I just cannot fathom that these people have gone so insane as to scream injustice for a fly of all things. They should have been running to give Obama an alcohol wipe. SMH.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

A Minnesota woman must pay $1.9 million for downloading 24 songs, a jury has decided.

WHAT!?

Jammie Thomas-Rasset lost, but I don’t consider her loss an epic fail. I actually consider the fail to be on the part of the RIAA, who decided it was worth their time and effort to wage war on a single mother. She is appealing, but the RIAA was happy with the decision. “We appreciate the jury’s service and that they take this as seriously as we do,” said a rep for the recording industry watchdog. Thomas-Rasset downloaded music from No Doubt, Linkin Park, Gloria Estefan and Sheryl Crow. If there is any fail, it is the fact that Jammie went to trail before and was fined $220,000. But the judge ordered a retry because of an error in messaging to the jury.

The Wiz opening night was last night and they look like they had a lot of fun out there.

The Last Word Anniversary: Halfway Through ’09 Awards

Once again, the clock strikes Friday and the weekend calls.

This month marks another year of Last Word being around to give you something

to talk about. Shout out to everybody who regularly checks in (the real

sounding boards) as well as those who stop by every blue moon and those who,

like, don’t like it cuz they just don’t like it. Thanks to the big boss lady

for letting me do what I do with this. It is appreciated.

And with that, here’s something different for this week.

Awards for the people who made an impact in the first half of 2009 with some

runners up to boot. Strictly entertainment in keeping with Last Word M.O. Nothing

too serious to think on.

This is…the first-ever LW Awards for the week ending June

19, 2009.

Ike Turner ‘Chick You Betta Not Check My Cell Phone

Again’ Award

Winner: Chris Brown

Was there any real competition for this honor? Breezy is the

obvious winner after his alleged pre-Grammy beating of Rihanna took him off

most people’s most likable guy list. And with his case going to trial likely

(not to mention talk of death threats), it will be interesting to see if he can

come out of this in one piece. But Brown is back in the studio working on a new

album so anything is possible. In the future, Ashanti will handpick the crooner to co-star

in a big screen remake of The Wiz. The

songbird will transition from Broadway to the movie theater as Dorothy. Brown

will fill Michael Jackson’s shoes as the Scarecrow, Wesley Snipes replaces

Nipsey Russell as the Tin Man and Ja Rule comes aboard as the Cowardly Lion.

Rounding out the cast will be Alicia Keys as Glinda the Good Witch, Fantasia as

the Wicked Witch and Dave Chappelle, who will make his long-awaited comeback as

The Wiz. All in an effort to

prove that you too can walk away from a multi-million dollar set up to do your

part to help someone worse off than you clean up his act.

Make a Wish Foundation Award

Winner: Flavor Flav

Runners up: Ray J

and New York

It was a tough decision, but Flav took it by a narrow

margin. How else can you explain why the Public Enemy hype man got a chance to

pick from 20 women? Could it be VH1’s attempt to help a former A-list celebrity

regain his swag on the way to the D-list Hall of Shame? And with the ladies

doing whatever to win Flav’s heart, I guess love truly is blind.

In the future, Flavor Flav will eventually realize he is

meant to spend his quality time with his Surreal Life/Strange Love flame Brigitte Nielsen, who has retired from

molesting younger men. Look for VH1 to chronicle their renewed romance (and New

York’s attempt to sabotage the union) in the network’s upcoming celebreality

series All’s Fair in Love and Flav.

Silk E. Johnson Lifetime Hater Award

Winner: Etta James

Much respect to Ms. James for being a singing legend. But

even legends carry hate on occasion. Especially when someone else sings your

signature song (“At Last”) on the night the President is sworn into office.

“You know that woman he had singing for him, singing my song

– she’s gonna get her a— whipped,” Etta said in February. “The

great Beyoncé … But I can’t stand Beyoncé. She has no business up there,

singing up there on a big ol’ President’s Day … singing my song that I’ve

been singing forever.”

Tough words from the lady who later claimed the remarks were

said in jest. In the future, Etta James will headline Wrestlemania 26 in a no-holds barred last diva standing match

against Beyoncé. The winner will headline the I Was Only Joking When I Whipped

Your Ass tour, along with the winner of the Mashonda vs. Alicia Keys cage

smackdown, who will serve as the opening act for the outing.

R. Kelly Teflon Award (ain’t nothing sticking to him/her)

Winner: Jamie Foxx

He may have lost some fans with controversial comments on

Miley Cyrus, but Foxx has remained untouchable in the eyes of people who count

him among their favorite entertainers. Add that to the success of his latest

album, Intuition and kissing and palming

the backside of Halle Berry at a recent awards show, and 2009 has treated Jamie

pretty good. In short, just blame it on the talent. A little humor and

confidence goes a long way.

17 Minutes of Fame Award

Winner: Ray J

Again, another tight race, but the committee has spoken.

Every hot single that arrives every two or three years is another minute of

fame added on for Brandy’s little brother.  And with another season of For the Love of Ray J set, it looks like Mr. Norwood could add another 2

¾ minutes to the mix. Hopefully without the “chart-topping” theme music.

Runner-up: New York

Once again, VH1 continues to play fairy godmother to those

in need of a glass slipper. Two shots at Flav, a show to find somebody special

and another to let America pick your next job? Can the next gig be a normal

life for New York? I’m just sayin’. No more drama (queens), please.

In the future, Ray J will team up with Flavor Flav for their

highly-anticipated Best of Both Worlds project called The Real Life aka What’s

Love Got To Do With It?

Rick Ross/Lil Wayne Everyday I’m Hustlin’ Award

Winner: Tyler Perry

Spike Lee may have a problem with Tyler Perry’s TV shows,

but you can’t deny the fact that the entertainment mogul is constantly working

on something to keep the dough coming in. Whether it’s House of Payne, Meet the Browns or movies featuring his most popular character,

Madea, Tyler has overcome a lot to get to where he’s at. Not even an alleged

stalker could throw him off making an impact in front of the camera or behind

the scenes with his own entertainment studio.

Runners-up: T-Pain

and Beyoncé

In the future, Tyler Perry’s next movie will feature Beyoncé

with T-Pain on the soundtrack. It will be called Diary of a Burned Out

Performer.

Swagga Like Bey Award

Winner: Ciara

From the synchronized dance moves to the metal costume and

gloves, it could be said that Ciara is doing her best to channel Beyoncé. Then

again, the same could be said for most female singers out now. Everybody wants

to be like Mrs. Carter. The only thing is it may never ever ever happen since

Beyoncé herself has been known to steal bits and pieces of somebody’s technique

for her own purposes. But hey, if it works, it works. In the future, Ciara and

everyone else influenced by Beyoncé will hit the road for what will be known as

the Me, Myself and Imitators tour. Opening acts to be announced in the coming

weeks.

I’m a Star, But They Still Don’t Know Who I Am Award

Winner: Taraji P.

Henson

Oscar-nominated (for best supporting actress in The

Curious Case of Benjamin Button), but has

fallen victim to the Oscar curse. Will somebody give this lady a chance to

shine again? I’m a fan and I need to see more of her.

WTF Did You Put That Remix Out/Something to Talk About

Award

Winner: Keri Hilson

for the “Turnin’ Me On” remix

With a hit single(“Turnin’ Me On”) and healthy buzz for her

debut album, Keri was starting to get the props she deserved after being in the

background for so long. Then the “Turnin’ Me On” remix leaked and everything

shifted. They say any publicity is good publicity and nothing sells records

like controversy. But seemingly taking indirect shots at Beyoncé and Ciara and

having to do damage control to smooth things over seemed to be more energy than

it was worth. Still, Miss Keri came hard on it and is still doing her thing as

she has a hit album to her credit.

Riches to Rags Award

Winner: Amy

Winehouse

Do I really need to explain why? If you don’t know by now…

Friday Fashion Feature: “Brand Profile: The Loots”

The Loots was launched in 2006 by Aaron Whatton and Lee Wilkie.

 <BR.

The duo once worked for Mark Ecko Enterprises and designed for brands like Akademiks, Mecca, and Stash House.

Using various pop culture references, the New York based brand boasts bold tees jackets, hats and more.

The Loots is also an international hit, especially in Asian countries like Japan and Hong Kong.

Like Butter Tee by The Loots

Kiki recently visited The Loots showroom and got a sneak peak of their upcoming collection, as well as an exclusive interview with co-founder Lee Wilkie.

Check out the interview below where Lee discusses the meaning behind The Loots’ name, provides advice for budding designers and more.

DrJays.com’s Kiki and EMitts with The Loots’ Lee Wilkie

AllHipHop.com: What’s is the meaning behind the name of your brand, “The Loots”?

Lee: The name “The Loots” stems from it’s literal definition which is anything taken by deception or a collection of valuable objects.

AllHipHop.com: On your site, it mentions that you draw inspiration from various musicians, painters and more. Who are some of the most influential artists to you?

Lee: We collectively have a very broad range of artists that inspire us, but definitely Ralph Lauren, our friends at Wu-Tang, Frank Lloyd Wright, The Cohen Brothers, Will Ferrell, The Neptunes…the list goes on.

AllHipHop.com:  How is the brand persevering in this economy?

Lee: We are making more specific items that move even when people can’t spend like the used to. Tees are always a staple, and we’re focusing on accessories like hats and belts.

AllHipHop.com: What do you think differentiates The Loots from the many other streetwear brands out there now and coming up?

Lee: Well we are a lifestyle inspired brand that truly reflect the essence of what we do. We digest all the cultural moves and trends we see and use them to make relevant and innovative pieces that make people say “Damn!”. We also make music and art with some of the world’s most interesting people, which contributes highly to our swag!

AllHipHop.com: Any tips for kids who are interested in starting their own clothing line?

Lee: Yeah, wait a few years before you go starting the next BAPE out of your mom’s pantry. A lot of the big dogs in the industry are falling hard so it’s evening out the playing field for newcomers. But as far as starting anything new, I would seriously wait and see who is still around when the smoke clears to get an idea of what products are going to work.

AllHipHop.com: Any new exciting news, events or collaborations coming up?

Lee: We are constantly blessing artists like Cam’ron, Fabolous, The GS Boys, The Pack, Prodigy, and more for up coming videos and interviews. We also have a new collab with New Era for our Fall 09’ collection, as well as a headphone collab with Aerial 7.

Prodigy in The Loots

AllHipHop.com:  What is the concept behind your spring 09 collection?

Lee: Our spring/summer collection is loosely based on vintage sports and movies from the 80s and 90s. The subject matter is sprinkled with everything from toys to Spike Lee movies.

Stay tuned for new gear from The Loots, and check out some of the goods currently in stock on DrJays.com:

50 Cent War Angel (Review)

The Joker: I don’t want to kill you! What would I do without you? Go back to ripping off mob dealers? No, no, NO! No. You… you… complete me.

50 Cent has just released a new “street album” called War Angel for the downloading delight of his fans, haters and the curious bystander.

All eyes are on 50 right now.

It truly appears to be make it or break it time for the rap mogul, who appears to have sustained some collateral damage in the kinda-sorta battle with Miami’s Rick Ross. Based on the marketing behind War Angel, one gets the impression that 50 Cent has reloaded and is ready to shoot up the competition.

“I Line N***ad,” the first song, proves 50 Cent isn’t really playing and, in fact, is working really hard to re-establish his lyrical presence. The song is standard hardcore street-hop that is appealing to aficionados. Similarly, “Talking In Codes” and “Redrum (Murder)” are short, terse songs that will satisfy advocates of samples and boom bap music. Lyrically, 50 sounds hungry and the ad libs on several songs are even equipped with animalistic growls. “You are now under my hypnosis / Summer Time grind, come out with the toasters / I return like an animal ferocious / New money breed new enemies, n***a you know this,” 50 barks on “C.R.E.A.M. 2009.”

There are no production credits, but whoever helped paint the sonic backdrop had a great set of brushes. It truly feels good to hear abrasive Hip-Hop in an emerging era of colorful hipsters. There are moments when you hear 50 trying a bit too hard still it’s easy to forget this rapper is a multimillionaire that rolls tight with Bette Midler.

With a street album called War Angel, this reviewer could have done without “I’ll Do Anything,” “London Girl,” and “Cocaine,” all which deviate from the theme of angst and hostility. Certainly, there is a place for such songs on a commerical album so the ladies and other proponents of smoother sounds will likely appreciate them.

And for The Joker? When it comes to quality of his music, it almost seems that 50 Cent’s best work is indelibly linked to Ja Rule – his mortal enemy. The hatred 50 had for Ja, brought out the best in the G-Unit General. But, he opted to kill Ja’s career instead of letting him linger. Same with Rick Ross.  Rick Ross has continued to diss 50 Cent, but 50 never lashes back at Ross. War Angel is more than sufficient, however it falls short of picking off where Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ left off. However unfair that may be, it is what it is.

With other mixtapes on the way, War Angel is a good indication that 50 Cent will be 100-percent by the time Before I Self Destruct comes out.

AHH Stray News: Michelle Obama, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross BEP’s

First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a number of celebrities on Monday (June 15) at the White House, during the first annual White House Music Series. Mrs. Obama, and the Marsalis’ (Ellis, Branford and noted Hip-Hop critic Wynton Marsalis) spoke to over 150 music students from New Orleans and Washington D.C. During her speech, Mrs. Obama described Jazz as “America’s indigenous art form” and revealed what kind of music her children, Sasha, 10 and Malia 8, would be exposed to. “I brought my own family with me today, because I want to keep them alive and aware of all kinds of music, other than hip-hop. So it’s just — it’s so important for me to have you here that I brought them here as well.”

Lil Wayne has signed on to endorse a new line of cigars named “Bogey Blunts.” The blunts come with no tobacco, so smokers fill the blunt with their own tobacco, or in most cases, marijuana. The packaging will come with Lil Wayne’s image on the cover. Wayne is not the first rapper to have his own line of blunts. There is currently a line featuring Notorious B.I.G. and over the years, several other rappers, including Jadakiss, have made attempts to enter the lucrative market.

Rick Ross will take part in a new concert series launching in Phoenix, Arizona titled Pontiac Live. The series, which kicks off July 17 at the Phoenix Amphitheater, was created by the Pontiac Downtown Development Authority. Rick Ross and crew will hit the stage on July 24, while several other notable acts are scheduled throughout the event, which ends in September. Confirmed artists include En Vogue, Bell Biv Devoe, Chuck Berry, Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, Cindy Lauper, Michael McDonald, Snoop Dogg and others.

The Black Eyed Peas’ new album The E.N.D. debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, moving an impressive 304,000 units its first week in stores. The sales figures marks the best opening week ever for the Peas, who topped their 2005 release Monkey Business, which moved 291,000 unites. The Black Eyed Peas’ latest single “I Gotta Feeling” is currently sitting at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, right behind their own #1 single, “Boom Boom Pow,” which has held the top slot for 11 weeks in a row.

La the Darkman Denies Stabbing Reports; Jeezy Entourage Member Victim

Aphilliates Music Group president La The Darkman has issued a response to the various rumors alleging he was involved in an altercation at an Atlanta nightclub Wednesday night.

Early reports regarding the altercation at Midtown Atlanta’s Luckie Lounge during a star-studded event early this morning (June 18), indicated that the fight might have been the continuation of a feud between La the Darkman and member’s of Young Jeezy’s label CTE.

Early Thursday morning, VladTV.com reported having received an email from La himself, in which he took credit for the fight.

That post has since been changed to indicate that it was sent by a third party witness.

However, La told AllHipHop.com exclusively that he has not been in Atlanta in weeks.

“The internet rumors are misleading,” La told AllHipHop.com Thursday afternoon. “I, La the Darkman, was in [Grand Rapids], Michigan Wednesday, June 17, doing a concert with Gucci Mane and Soulja Boy. There was 6500 people in the venue to verify that. Then I performed again at the after party.”

La is currently on a promo tour, preparing for the release of his self-titled sophomore release, due out this summer.

In related news, Young Jeezy recently spoke about the altercation and stated that neither he nor his camp was involved in the altercation.

Several local and national celebrities gathered at the posh Atlanta nightspot to celebrate the 10-year career anniversary of DJ Trauma of the World Famous Superfriends.

Among the guests joining hosts Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri, Estelle, Jeremih and Verse Simmonds were Chaka Zulu, Jazze Pha, Drumma Boy, DJ Toomp, Don Cannon, and The Aphilliates’ DJ Drama, DJ Infamous, and DJ Sense.

Despite Jeezy’s denial to media outlets that his entourage made it out of the club without incident, a man affliliated with his camp has been confirmed as a victim.

According to TMZ.com, Antonio “Bama” Henry was one of the three men stabbed in the melee.

That N***a S**t Ain’t Hip-Hop

“You know what’s my true love? THAT N***A S**T”

-Big Pun

The late Big Pun is a great artist that had one song that has bothered me for years. The song was simply titled “N***a S**t.”

I was just unsettling to me that a Puerto Rican rapper with such respect for the game would extol “n***a s**t” as his true love, especially with all that there is to like about Black people.

Then I thought about it and realized that…everybody seems to love that “n***a s**t.” How do I know this?

Just look at the headlines – “Young Jeezy Not Stabbed; 3 Others Were At Party With Ludacris, Estelle, JD.” Well, at a party with such a wealth of talent and actual wealth, why would three people be stabbed up in the V.I.P. section? If they are a V.I.P., why are they stabbing people?

That’s that “n***g s**t.”

We talk about how we hate it, but we secretly want to see some real good, juicy, ignorant “n***a s**t” to go down to give us all a reason to shake our heads side to side in utter shame. We need something to converse, right?

I do it to from time to time.

But, here is the problem.

That “n***a s**t” is fare too often synonymous with Hip-Hop music and culture. God bless the dead, but Dolla’s slaying – however tragic – was not because he was a rapper. It was over some “n***a s**t” as far as I can tell from the reports. AllHipHop.com and other media report on these incidents, but outsiders take these write-ups as a factual statement about the Hip-Hop Nation. (Like, Bill Clinton getting his d**k sucked in the White House wasn’t deemed political s**t, was it?)

We, as a community, don’t help matters. There just doesn’t seem to be any expulsion policy in Hip-Hop (unless you snitch). But, foolishness seems to be rewarded. You can really come up off of “n***a s**t” these days. MC Hammer has a reality show that’s catching a bit of flack for not having enough drama. What they mean is “Hammer, we would like more ‘n***a s**t’ if you don’t mind.” Diddy’s “Making The Band” series gave us plenty “n***a s**t” and so have others like shows from Flavor Flav and Keyshia Cole. (No shots to Diddy, Keyshia or Flav. To the credit of Rev. Run, he’s made a franchise off showing some functional familial interactions.)

So-called “n***a s**t” is nothing exclusive to Black people and crude, uncouth behavior exists in all races color and creeds. It’s also not a wholly Hip-Hop phenomenon. We don’t have a name for boorish White people called “Honkie s**t” or complimentary insults for Asians called “ch**k s**t.” “I love mayonnaise sandwiches, yo! That’s that ‘Honkie s**t, son.” SMH.

Finally, this opinion pieces is no disrespect to Big Pun, because everybody loves that “n***as s**t.”

I just wish they loved Hip-Hop and Black people just the same.

(One love to Big Pun. Please don’t make it seem like there is anything but love for the late, great Christopher Rios. R.I.P. to Dolla.)

PS: Here is some really good “n***a s**t” I just saw in the rumors section:

Willie D. Out Of Prison, Banned From The Internet

Legendary Houston rapper Willie D quietly posted bail two weeks ago, evading the high level of attention his recent fraud case has received.

The 42-year-old born William James Dennis was released from a Houston area correctional facility on May 20 under a bond agreement that limits his travel and use of the internet.

Under the terms of his bond, Willie D has surrendered his passport and has been forbidden from travelling beyond Harris and surrounding counties.

In addition, the Geto Boys star is being monitored by an active GPS system.

Due to the nature of his crimes, Willie D has also been forbidden from using the internet.

On May 13, the gangsta rap pioneer was arrested at Houston’s Bush International Airport and accused of running an elaborate iPhone scam.

He allegedly used a front company named Texas One Wireless to solicit international customers on eBay.

Willie D reportedly processed several orders for iPhones and other electronics, requesting the funds for the goods be transferred to his bank account. None of the orders were ever filled, however.

Two weeks ago, his attorney filed a motion requesting that both the travel and internet restrictions be lifted, as both are needed in Dennis’s career as a rapper.

The court documents indicated that he had already missed a scheduled performance in Cleveland, Ohio due to his arrest.

On June 9, a grand jury indicted Willie on 15 counts of wire fraud.

If convicted, he will face up to 20 years in prison and up to $250,000. His arraignment has yet to be scheduled.

A Houston-based booking and promotions company has planned a tribute to Willie D set for tonight (June 18).

Smash The Mic has announced that it’s Pre-Juneteenth Concert and Party at Bar-Rio, showcasing new Hip-Hop talent, will also be a celebration of “the man who helped put Houston on the map.”

No word as to whether Willie D himself will be present at the event, although he is expected to make an appearance.

Silkk The Shocker: Lightening Strikes Again

Vyshonn King Miller along with his brothers Percy and Corey helped usher Southern Hip-Hop to the rest of the world, in a number of pioneering ways. Vyshonn, professionally known as Silkk the Shocker, is now president of a new label and plots the release a new album after close to five years away. No Limit broke sales records in the 90’s by pushing music at a break neck speed and pushing a brand that transcended music. Silkk talks now with AllHipHop.com about the wait between albums, his new position at the head of a label, and his relationship with his family.

AllHipHop.com: Why such a long wait between releasing albums?

Silkk The Shocker: I’ve just been more focused on the business side of things. I wanted to make sure that everything was in place. Once that happened I just wanted to take the time and really enjoy what I’ve done. I didn’t want to just keep working and not see the benefits. Then I actually did a song for a soundtrack and I liked the feel of the whole situation. Everything came together so well that I wanted to keep making music and see what happens.

AllHipHop.com: What record label is going to release the album?

Silkk The Shocker: It’s coming out on Globy House, which is part of Universal.

AllHipHop.com: Now, is this your own record label?

Silkk The Shocker: I’m the president but I don’t own it.

AllHipHop.com: So what are some of the major differences from creating an album as an artist and creating an album as a president?

Silkk The Shocker: I can control a lot more and I’m more involved in the business side. With an artist you just do what you do and give it to the label. You don’t have as much input after that. Now I’m more involved with artist development. I got the job because I know how to develop an artist and put together a complete project.

AllHipHop.com: Given your background with No Limit what are some of the positive and negative lessons you have learned from its history?

Silkk The Shocker: I would say I learned a lot of positives. I learned about the hustle and what it takes to make it. We didn’t have the radio so we had to start at the streets. The streets are what gave us our core audience. The negatives? I don’t think there are many negatives. It’s a different day and age with artists making a lot more digital sales. There are more downloads and more ringtones. What we did with No Limit was great but that was for that time. Would it work right now? Probably not…or at least not as much because of the way the system is setup. The whole situation did teach me how to make something out of nothing. Now that I have a lot to work with it makes it easier. Granted the record industry has changed but I feel I can still be successful. I feel good about what we did then and I feel good about what I’m doing now. Right now I’m focused on trying to make something better. It might not go and sell 75 million records but I still want to make something better.

AllHipHop.com: What’s the name of the new album?

Silkk The Shocker: Right now it’s called The Blessing although I may change the name. I know a lot of people say this, but I feel like this is my best record so far. People will have to wait to hear it, and if you don’t think it’s the best let me know. I just feel it’s my best to date. I may change the name because I recently recorded a new track and that may become the title of the album.

AllHipHop.com: This being your best album, how do you feel it differs from your previous efforts?

Silkk The Shocker: The other records were great but I was just doing it. I was in the moment. I didn’t really take my time. This album is more thought out. I think more people will appreciate it because it is more lyrical. You can understand what is going on and what I’m rapping about. I know in the past I was into a fast rapping style that people couldn’t understand. On this album I broke it down so that I would be clear on a lot of things. Also, it’s just a different vibe. I have more variety with heartfelt songs, club songs, Hip Hop songs… it’s just more variety.

AllHipHop.com: What can we expect to hear, subject-wise, on this release?

Silkk The Shocker: I think you will get a lot from this album. A lot of people will appreciate it. I talk about the world and economy. I just speak about what people are going through today. I talk about the club and women. I speak about treating women right. I just have a lot of different types of songs on the album. I just can’t wait for everyone to hear it. I know people around me that hear it are surprised and appreciate it. It’s different from the records I’ve done that I didn’t really like. Overall I’m just glad to be back and glad to be able to get more music to the fans.

AllHipHop.com: Now, what do you mean by records you didn’t like?

Silkk The Shocker: Don’t get me wrong, I liked my records. It’s just that some of them I just did it to do it. I didn’t really take as much time to make the records as I did on this album.

AllHipHop.com: What’s it like to see the blueprint that your record label created, in terms of music, clothing, and film, being followed by labels today? Some record labels take it to another level while many tend to remain stagnant and just copy your exact model.

Silkk The Shocker: I was just talking to someone about this the other day. I really proud of what we’ve done because we opened up the doors for a lot of people. The catch is, could we have done things a little different? Maybe. We were very successful with what we did but you also have to understand we were first generation entertainers. We were learning on the job. So I see people now trying to take it further and I am proud of that. I think they need to look back at the era. I mean, when we did it no one expected it. But realistically something like that won’t happen again. You have to change it and take it forward. You have to make it better so you can open up the doors for people after you.

AllHipHop.com: Your brother, Master P, came forward saying he wanted to do clean rap, and he took a lot of heat for that. Does that have any affect on your craft?

Silkk The Shocker: It doesn’t really affect me. That’s my brother and I commend him. He is responsible and coming from a positive place. He’s very mature and did a lot in his life so he wanted to give back. He wants to do something positive and there is nothing wrong with that. Personally, I have never done a lot of cursing. I’m still going to do what I’m going to do but it doesn’t affect me. I just let my lyrics go and speak freely for myself. I just commend him for setting the example because I believe that’s what our community needs.

AllHipHop.com: Your family has had its ups and downs in the music industry. Your brother, Master P, and your nephew, Lil Romeo, have experienced much success in the industry. Your other brother, Corey Miller, has had success in the underground for some period of time but is now currently dealing with a serious legal situation. How does that affect the family and yourself in general?

Silkk The Shocker: It’s bad. I’m the youngest so I’ve seen it from al angles. I have a sister who taught me a lot. I have a successful older brother. I have a brother who was murdered. I have another brother who is extremely successful. I have a brother that is accused of a murder that we know he didn’t do. I can really speak on his situation for obvious reasons. There’s just a lot of stuff going on in his situation with the government and the DA in Louisiana. I know for a fact he didn’t do that crime. But because I’ve seen all these situations it influences me. I live and learn from these situations.

AllHipHop.com: Do you still have ties with Louisiana?

Silkk The Shocker: Oh yeah. That’s home. That’s my pride and joy. It’s my soul and I got it on my back. I just want to see better things for it. I see people trying to fight and bring it back after Katrina and I’m just like them. I want the best for my city.

AllHipHop.com: You came into the game at a relatively young age. Is there anything you would change knowing what you know now?

Silkk The Shocker: I was very young but I would change anything. I mean, I was a young millionaire and didn’t know what to do with that type of money, but overall I’m comfortable with where I’m at now. I feel I’m focused on business now and that is because the pros and cons of my career.

Tupac Birthday Party Pictures

Update: Young Jeezy Not Stabbed; 3 Others Were At Party With Ludacris, Estelle, JD

A party for celebrity spin master DJ Trauma turned violent after three people were stabbed at the Luckie Lounge last night in Atlanta.

Ludacris, Estelle, Jermaine Dupree and Young Jeezy were in attendance of the party according to sources.

The incident occurred Thursday morning during a fight in the VIP area of the Luckie Food Lounge on Luckie Street about 2:30 a.m., reports say. One person was slashed on the face and two others were stabbed in their arm.

The victims were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

The melee involved at least 10 people and police detailed several individuals.

None of the people apprehended have been cooperative.

While the identity of the men injured have not been confirmed, reports have been suggesting that the incident was linked to a long standing feud between La the Darkman, a member of DJ Drama’s Aphilliates crew and Young Jeezy’s CTE group.

In November of 2008 La The Darkman and CTE clashed during the Dirty Awards, although Young Jeezy was not present during that altercation.

According to unverified rumors, Young Jeezy may have been one of those attacked.

A rep for Young Jeezy denied he was involved in the incident.

“[Young Jeezy] was not attacked and is perfectly fine,” a rep for Young Jeezy told AllHipHop.com today (June 18).

No description has been given of the attacker.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Young Jeezy Stabbed? 50 Cent Disses Jay-Z? Poor Kelis…!

DISCLAIMER:

All

content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual

info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.UPDATEJEEZY VS LA THE DARKMANI think I got some of what happened last night confused. So, if you think Jeezy got stabbed, we now know that’s not the case. However, there is another beef that is lurking. La The Darkman. I am not sure how this has gotten so bad, but it has. La is an East Coast dude that has transplanted to the ATL area. His brother is Willie Da Kid. And he is now down with DJ Drama. Because of his work with Gucci, I seems that Drama and Jeezy had some words between them and a lack of peace. SOOOOOOO…here is the heart of the matter. Outside of the club, there was another altercation in addition to the three stabbing victims that included La and the posse. From what I heard La says that he and his men beat up some of the members of CTE bragged about it. Hmmmm….OK. Anyway, that’s the update. THE DAILY TWO SENSE

Minister Mase is getting the business from those that consider him a fraud. Click here to see what somebody thinks about Mase! WoW! Click HERE! Mase’s voice sure changed from a Harlem rapper to a Souther preacher!

I have a couple of rumors to clear up before we get started.

JAE MILLZ SHOOTS DOWN ROBBERY RUMORS

Jae Millz, who is presently signed to Wayne’s Young Money has denied that he got robbed at Drake’s video shoot. He told AllHipHop.com:

NOOOOO I AINT F**KING GET ROBBED.. I HAD MY JEWLS ON FOR THE WHOLE DAY!!

Millz also said that he is about to start his own campaign on the rap side.

AMIL IS WRITING AN “URBAN” BOOK

I was hoping Amil would release a tell-all book. Not that I want to her prostitute her story or the stories of others. I just would like to hear more of the insider information that went on at Roc-A-Fella. Trust me when I say there are secrets for days. I can’t reveal them so I need somebody else to do it!

Here is what her associate BabyPaul said about her real book:

“Amil is NOT releasing a tell-all book, that type of book is not in her character whatsoever to focus on negativity & the capitalization of others for her benefit. Rumours tend to follow Amil for some reason & they are all FALSE!!

Amil is working on an inspirational urban fiction novel based on her life experiences. The book is intended to empower women & struggling single mothers.

Amil is also still working on music to release in the future, including select artist collaborations.”

Here is the new song Amil just released.

DID JEEZY GET STABBED IN ATL?

I heard there was a massive ruckus at Luckie Lounge in ATL! I don’t know for sure, but I heard that Jeezy may have been on the receiving end. Before you go crazy and feed into “Jeezy Got Stabbed” rumors, I don’t think it could possibly true. I heard it, but if that happened, I would be all over the place. Here is the flip side, rumors are rampant that La The Dark Man is claiming that they did something to Jeezy at the club. I don’t know, but it would seem like something is under the surface. Gyant was told to check the hospital for Jeezy, because he was in it. I did hear that Jeezy was in VIP when it went down. The news is saying that somebody was slashed in the face and others were cut in the arm. It doesn’t say who was sliced.

50 CENT SAYS, “HOW ABOUT SOME HARDCORE?”

I am not sure, but I have been told that this information is “official.” 50 Cent has reached out to D-Block to invite them to an event that he is having in August. This could also act as a a defacto Dipset reunion, because the G-Unit Leader has also invited the whole Dipset, including Cam. Now, we know that Cam and 50 haven’t not been buddies, but we’ll see on this. He’s cool with the rest of the Dips. 50 will also reportedly bring out Method Man, KRS-One, Rakim, Maino, Redman and others.

I don’t know if you saw the video, but 50 deficated on Jay-Z and rode for Freeway. Check out the quote:

“[Lil Wayne] has that new kid, what’s his name, Drake. The kid is coming up. I heard Jay-Z got him on his single. Right? That was ill, like, that was fast! For him to put him on his single, like that’s ill. I don’t know if he’s rhyming or singing but the fact that he’s on it is hot. Like that was a fast come-up. Jay won’t even rap on his own artists and be in the video with ‘em. Freeway, he did Freeway dirty. In the Freeway project, we were doing something together. It was all of us together, Jay had a record with Freeway and I said ‘If you shoot that one, I’ll shoot the one that I did with him and we’ll make the video.’ Now tell me that ain’t the perfect scenario for Freeway.”

LIL WAYNE / KEYSHIA COLE FIGHT?

There was a rumor from California radio station KMEL that Lil Wayne and Keyshia Cole got into some sort of fight or something. Not sure what that’s all about and I wasn’t able to locate any fact about it. It might just be a weird rumor.

NICKI MINAJ THE DIVA?

I know Nicki is hot…in several different ways, but has she been acting like a Diva? The word on the street is that she may have upset Shawnna, the Queen of DTP. Yeah, really! I’m going to keep it real, Shawnna is a fan or at least respects Nicki. So, I don’t think Shawnna wants beef. Apparently, they pair were on a show in The Nati together. Shawnna was reportedly the headliner of the show. The promoters or somebody close stated that Nick wanted to close out the show. I heard that somehow, Nicki was indeed allowed to be the closer, but not without people being upset behind the scenes. I don’t know her like that so I’m not sure. I do know this, Shawnna is dope. LOL.

RIHANNA SEX TAPE?

Somebody released a recent clip of what is presumed to be a sex tape of Rihanna. The fact is, I can’t even feed into this one. Sure, we’d like a RiRi sex tape, but this ain’t it. Like I said before, she’s got a body double with bigger boobs. That is the person that I feel is represented in that short clip. For those that care, there will be another tape released in full on the 22nd.

BLAM BLAM BLAM

Whoever allegedly robbed Tru-life’s brother is probably wishing they didn’t. Well, actually one of them is dead now. So, that’s tragic. Nevertheless, I heard this “bumrush” was deep yesterday on the Avenue and they were shooting bullets in the air around 2 am in the morning, screaming out, we doesn’t care about the cops or what happen. I don’t know about this. I’m not a gun-slinger.

BEYONCE AIN’T PLAYING

Anybody that knows Beyonce knows that she is about her biz. Well, the singer is also about stopping other people’s hustles if it infringes on her image and likeness. I heard that she is making concerted efforts to block street vendors that may try to sell t-shirts outside of her shows. This particularly applies to the vendors in NYC, from what I have heard. Contact Music says the singer filed a federal lawsuit against a group of bootleggers. I will admit that this sounds like some people that have a huge bootleg operation, not some poor sap with nothing else to do.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

I don’t know how true this is, but I heard that Pinky, the p### star, is about to be booted from her home.

According to something I found, Kelis reports an average monthly income of $21,616. However, her monthly bills are $80,831.

I am hearing Virginia is very unhappy that OJ Da Juiceman didn’t come to a scheduled show.

Somebody told me they were a community member on 50 Cent’s website and they got banned because they didn’t like his new mixtape. He said “the stans” rushed him digitally and snitched to the moderators. The e-thugging thing is real.

The Lox and Diddy are working on some sort of reunion. I hope no refrigerators get tossed out the window.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

A man and woman are in jail, because they wanted to exorcise demons from her own baby. Sandra Alfred, 46, of ATL, was arrested Friday for false imprisonment of a kid and cruelty to children. She used handcuffs to restrain her 15-year-old son! They didn’t give him an food or water for over 12 hours at a time. They finally got caught and told the police they were trying to exorcise him of his demons. Maybe they should have been better parents when he was a little boy? Anyway, the boy suffers from delusions and was treated at a hospital for dehydration.

Grand Wizard Theodore To Enter Bronx Walk of Fame

Ground-breaking Hip-Hop DJ Grand Wizard Theodore will be honored this Saturday (June 20) with an induction into the Bronx Walk of Fame.

Since 1997, the New York borough annually recognizes its distinguished residents with a ceremony at the Walk of Fame, located at the Bronx County Building.

Born Theodore Livingston, Grand Wizard Theodore began his DJ career in the 70’s as an apprentice of fellow legend Grandmaster Flash, and his older brother Mean Gene.

He revolutionized Hip-Hop music in the late 1970’s by creating the “scratching” technique.

By rotating a vinyl record on the turntable while simultaneously alternating the crossfader, Theodore was able to create the now seminal “scratching” sound effect synonymous with Hip-Hop Culture.

In 1980, Theodore joined the Fantastic Five, and released the old school single “Can I Get a Soul Clap.”

Later, he made an appearance in the pioneering 1982 flick Wild Style, the first ever Hip-Hop film.

In 2001 the Source Magazine recognized Theodore’s achievements with a Pioneer Award.

He is also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Turntablist Federation.

Grand Wizard Theodore will share his Bronx Walk of Fame induction with composer Charles Fox, actress Judy Reyes, singer/songwriter Melissa Manchester, and 70’s pop figure Tony Orlando.

The ceremony is free to the public, and will commence this Saturday (June 20) at 11AM in front of 851 Grand Concourse.
