Lawsuit Against Foxy Brown Dismissed

A Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge has ruled to dismiss a lawsuit against rapper Foxy Brown, stemming from a 2007 assault to which she pleaded guilty nearly a year ago, the New York Post reported earlier this week.

According to the New York City tabloid, on Thursday (April 9), Justice Robert Miller dismissed the claim filed by Brown’s former neighbor Arlene Raymond in May 2008.

The civil suit was filed on the same day that Foxy Brown, born Inga Marchand, pleaded guilty to assaulting Raymond during an argument in July 2007.

However, it seems Brown was never served with legal papers, which lead Judge Miller to his decision.

The fight started when Raymond complained about Brown blasting her car stereo.

After a heated exchange, Brown reportedly threw her Blackberry at her neighbor, who was left with a bruised eye and chipped tooth.

On May 9, 2008, Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge John Walsh accepted a plea deal which sentenced Brown to time served and extended Raymond’s order of protection against the former Def Jam artist, but only after the raptress had submitted a written apology to the court.

Just two weeks prior, Brown had resolved a Florida assault case with a similar plea.

Foxy Brown’s guilty plea in this case did not come without some resistance.

In October 2007, while serving a one year jail term at Riker’s Island for violating her probation from a previous assault case, she refused to board a Department of Corrections bus to appear in court twice in one day.

Four days later, on October 16, 2007, Brown pleaded not guilty to charges of assault, attempted assault, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.

As featured in of our previous “Trend Alerts”, the “boyfriend jean” looks best worn in and with some destruction. But even other fits, like the skinny jean, are getting ripped up.

Queen Pen To Bring Incarcerated Parents & Kids Together

Grammy nominated rapper Queen Pen has partnered with the non-profit organization Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) to reunite children with their imprisoned parents.

The free trips will commence this Father’s Day. According to the CPNYC, the goal of the various field trips is to allow at-risk children the opportunity “to spend these important holidays with their fathers and to help continue nurturing these important relationships.”

Along with transportation, the non-profit will supply food and games in addition to counseling for both parents and children.

To date, it is estimated that 85,000 children in New York have an incarcerated parent.

Statistically, this situation can cause significant economic and social issues with the child.

Queen Pen began participating in CPNYC fundraisers and sponsorship meetings this year.

CPNYC founder and president Sharon Content remains optimistic that more entertainers like Queen Pen will make their voices heard on this overlooked issue.

“With the support and advocacy of individuals like Queen Pen, we will be able facilitate these trips for children, many of whom haven’t seen their fathers since their incarceration,” Content stated to AllHipHop.com. “These trips foster a critical relationship that is often a missing component in helping these silent victims to develop tools for discovering new pathways, recognizing possibilities and realizing their full potential.”

Rakim Part 2: Nas, The 80’s & Private Life

In Part 2 of this “lost and found” interview with Hip-Hop legend Rakim, the Microphone Fiend delves deeper into his life and times. He courses through the 80’s and 90’s, cruising into present day. He explains his personal and public life, the streets’ relationship to rap and even offers his views on the dedication song Nas penned on his life. (For Part 1, of “Rakim:  The Lost Interview,” click here)

AllHipHop.com: Back in the day, we used to argue for hours who was the best: you, G Rap or Kane. In the 90’s, they’d say Jay-Z, Biggie and Nas and now…it’s a new era. Overall, what are your thoughts on the state of Hip-Hop and who are you feeling?

Rakim: The overall state, I think its aiiiiight. We get a lot of flack for the lyrical content but I think its gonna change, because its been so much talk about the difference between the rap back then and the rap now. I think hearing them say “that’s a rapper” and “that’s a lyricist,” I think the young rappers want to be known as lyricists as well. If its their vocabulary for them saying something political. Right now, a lot of people are doing the negative rap and a lot of them are living it. A lot of them are not and that’s unfortunate. The consciousness is needed.

AllHipHop.com: Right.

Rakim: As for the second part, I like Papoose, I like Juelz [Santana], I like Lupe Fiasco. I’m a fan as well. That’s why I like rap so much, so I like a lot of different artists for what they do. From the G-Unit artists to the Dipset artists…a lot of rappers are beefing right now, but I like good music.

“I respect Nas for being an artist of his stature and showing another artist love. I always been a private cat and for somebody to speak on my private s**t before I do…you know…”

Hopefully, everybody keep doing what they doing and in the future we start taking over this rap s**t. And talking over this craft to the point where we in more control.

AllHipHop.com: What were your thoughts on Nas’ song about you, “-Unauthorized Biography of Rakim.”

Rakim: [Pauses] Uhm, I had mixed feelings about it, to be honest. But I respect Nas for being an artist of his stature and showing another artist love. I always been a private cat and for somebody to speak on my private s**t before I do…you know. That’s a small thing. There somethings said in there as well that I really did sit with, but overall, I thought it was alright.

AllHipHop.com: I’ll be honest. I thought as a song, it was a little lazy and he could have done better with it.

Rakim: Yeah, a lot of people said that as far as the track. It is what it is. Take the ice cream out the cone sometimes and just eat the ice cream.

AllHipHop.com: You didn’t know about it ahead of time, though did you?

Rakim: Not at all and right after it popped off, I didn’t hear from him either. That’s another thing that added to it that made it kind of…you know. I seen him and we kicked it, I don’t hold no grudges. I love what he does. He’s another cat that the game needs. The more the kids see a conscious [MC], the more the kids see the choices that they can make.

AllHipHop.com: Speaking of your personal life, how did you feel about when your personal life spread into the media with the baby moms stuff?

Rakim: The whole s**t is it was bogus. Don’t tell me I owe this when I owe nothing. It just goes to show – ignorance. Like my moms said, “This too shall pass.” Everything was false. There was no warrant for me. Out of all the good things that happened for me, I can’t get mad at it.

AllHipHop.com: I generally feel the next wave of great rappers will come from the previous greats. Do any of your children want to rhyme?

Rakim: Both of my sons like rhyming. I had my oldest son on stage at BB King’s [club in New York] and he spit 16. My kids want to do so much, I just let them be free. It’s a thing where you don’t want to put the same weight on them that you had on yourself. When it comes from the great ones, imagine the expectations for them when they come out.

AllHipHop.com: Do your kids understand what you meant to so many people? I don’t mean music-wise, I mean life-wise.

Rakim: I think they are starting to see it now. They were too young at the time and I think [Hip-Hop] was just maturing. Thought the years, the love still grows. I made the sacrifice to not only do what I do, but to me in their life, seeing all them through school. It wasn’t me being a rapper, seeing them every now and then, hitting them with some paper or taking them to the park. I was here for them. Matter a fact, I coach my son’s football team. They know it’s a good impact that I had on the world.

AllHipHop.com: Now, there have been a couple of instances where people were scratching their heads at some of the things you have done. One was when you did the video for “Don’t Sweat The Technique” with all the scantily clad girls at the mansion. The other was the ad you did with Hennessy.

Rakim: This goes back to what we were speaking on a minute ago. See, Eric B had a different view on what we were doing. That was Eric B, you know, the mansion, the chicks, the casino table. We pushed and shoved so much it was like, “Whatever man. If that’s what you want to do…just know I ain’t wearing no suit.” That was our creative differences. I don’t want to blame it on him, because I participated in it.

The Hennessy ad, you got to be a lil realistic with it. This is Hip-Hop. This is the entertainment world that they are presenting us to and people are gonna drink man. They come to the club. It was a thing where they reaching out on a campaign that said “Never blend in” and the thought was that was making a statement. It ain’t what you do, its how you do it. I’m not gonna front, I sip Hennessy from time to time. It’s a fine line and I know that people look at me for the conscious. I did a St. Ides commercial a few years ago too and the same thing happened. But, with this, I feel its an even better situation.

“They were rockin’ the fly Gucci s**t, nahmeen? [They] used to be rocking diamonds when we were just rocking gold. [They] would come through with the velour and the Fila suits.”

AllHipHop.com: It was classic photography too.

Rakim: For those that feel I let them down, pardon me for that.

AllHipHop.com: What kind of terms are you with Eric B now?

Rakim: He’s not one of the dudes I hollar at now, because I met him on “Lets make a record.” There was no real concrete deal in the beginning. He’s a good dude and I wish him the best.

AllHipHop.com: What’s the biggest misconception or misunderstanding about you? There’s a lot of mystery around you.

Rakim: Maybe that they think that I’m some kind of hermit or something. Like I just said a minute ago. My kids realize how much I sacrifice. When I was on tour, I would fly home every week so I could be home for two days. I think people misjudged that as me not being in love with rap or just not wanting to be around people. I just try to be as normal as possible.

AllHipHop.com: And that’s hard to be in the industry.

Rakim: Wow.

AllHipHop.com: I remember seeing all the flash and the swagger you dudes had back in the day. The 80’s were poppin’ like no other era. There were dudes like Alpo that seemed to be involved on some level or another. What was it like back then?

Rakim: Well, I didn’t really know Alpo, you know. Like the thing was, you would go uptown to the rooftop and Alpo would come through and show you love [and] buy you some champagne. “Yo, Ra, you want to ride the bike?” I didn’t have his number or nothing like that. My peoples were from Brooklyn. The thing was, the players and the ballers back then, they were setting the standards. They were rockin’ the fly Gucci s**t, nahmeen? That’s what put me on – my man from Fort Green. So, on the back of the cover, my man put me on to Dapper Dan (pioneering fashion designer from the 80s). He (friend from Fort Green) used to be rocking diamonds when we were just rocking gold. He would come through with the velour and the Fila suits. That’s who put me on. You didn’t hear me talking about Dapper Dan s**t or Gucci s**t. We just did it. We wore it and it made a statement.

That’s one of the hard things now, kinda trying to do what I did – hold my guns – but its changed to the point where you can’t be flamboyant with your jewelry or with the car you drive. They’ve done did it so much to the point where its monotonous now. I sit back and try to find new angles or new ways to touch on situations where it don’t sound like its been done for 20 years straight. But I’m gonna do what I do though.

Rakim’s now classic photo shoot for Hennessy.

The Last Word: Maxwell Returns, Jamie Foxx Sends an Apology to Miley Cyrus Via His Daughter, and Terrence Howard Talks Iron Man 2 Drama

Hello, hello, hello. Once again, the weekend arrives as

everybody tries to protect themselves from the swine flu, takes in President

Obama’s first 100 days in office and enjoys the arrival of the summer movie

season.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of

Gospel music singer the Rev. Timothy Wright and Golden Girls star Bea Arthur, who both died last week. As always,

shout out to the sounding boards for making headlines everyday in the story of

their lives.

So without further ado, I give to you…the Last Word for the

week ending May 1, 2009.

1. Maxwell Makes Official Return With New Album and Tour

After months of teasing and a brief tour last year, Maxwell

is back.

This crooner is gearing up to release his highly anticipated

fourth album, BLACKsummer’snight, on

July 7. The video for the project’s first single, “Pretty Wings” premiered

Wednesday (April 28) on BET’s 106 & Park along with the radio debut of the song.

In addition to providing vocals, Maxwell expanded his

presence on BLACKsummer’snight by

producing the entire nine-track album himself as well as co-producing the

project with Hod David and featuring a live, ten-piece band. So what exactly

has Maxwell been doing between his last album and his new release?

“In the past few years I’ve been making music for

myself, looking at the landscape and fighting for copyright – I’ve been living

my life,” the singer told a crowd at Sony Music’s New York offices.

“I felt a disenchantment and preferential treatment in the industry. There

was humility, bravado and entitlement missing. So I sat back because I didn’t

want to throw what I had into thin air.

But, then I came to the realization that this is a gift no

matter what,” Maxwell continued. “You need to cure and bring a

connection through sound. I hope in some small way I can leave some kind of

mark.”

You can judge for yourself if he makes the mark when he hits

the road for a tour this summer and a headlining gig at the Essence Music Fest

on July 4 in support of BLACKsummer’snight.

The tour, Maxwell’s first in six years, is set to kick off June 20 in

Milwaukee. BLACKsummer’snight

will be the first in a trilogy of releases Maxwell plans to unveil on fans. The

remaining albums, blackSUMMERS’night

and blacksummers’NIGHT, are

slated to arrive in stores in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

2. Jamie Foxx Lends Voice to the Homeless; Recruits

Daughter for Miley Cyrus Apology

He may have finished playing music prodigy Nathaniel Ayers

in The Soloist but Jamie Foxx is taking

the film’s message beyond the big screen by teaming up with Nineline, a crisis

helpline run by Covenant House, a nationwide agency that works with homeless

kids.

EURWeb.com reports that the entertainer has lent his voice

to a recorded message for the helpline as part of Participant Media’s social

action campaign for The Soloist. Foxx’s

involvement in the effort should go a long ways toward helping those in need of

guidance, according to Covenant House president Kevin Ryan.

“Now kids in crisis will not only hear a reassuring

voice but a well-known, positive role model,” he said. “I’m convinced that

hearing Jamie’s voice will be the difference for kids who might otherwise get

scared and hang up before we can help. This is a tremendous gift to our

kids.”

Foxx’s goodwill comes amid he actor/singer’s recent taunting

of Miley Cyrus on his radio show. Although he publicly apologized for his

remarks days later on The Tonight Show,

the entertainer is working to prevent any more negativity coming out of the

situation with the help of his daughter. The 14-year-old is doing her part by

writing a letter to Miley, apologizing for her father’s comments.

Foxx, who admitted that the remarks were

“insensitive,” sees the letter as the beginning of the end of the

drama surrounding his comments.

“I don’t want to defend my position as a comedian to be

further insensitive to Miley on (US late night show) Jay Leno. We apologized to

Miley and reached out to her… and so we’ll move on,” the entertainer told

WENN. “My daughter has written a letter to her. We’re going to get that to

her and like I said, I don’t want to defend it… you can’t defend it.”

And there you have it. ‘Nuff said.

3. John Legend Goes Green For Summer Tour

John Legend will champion the environment as well as good

music when he hits the road this summer on a major tour of North America.

According to Billboard,

the crooner plans on going “green” for the outing by joined forces with the

nonprofit environmental organization REVERB. The pair will work tour venues and

local caterers to ensure and facilitate the use of green products and

practices, along with neutralizing CO2 emissions from venue energy use, hotels,

flights and touring vehicles.

In addition, fans can purchase eco-friendly merchandise that

will be available. A John Legend on-line ride-sharing service will also be

available to encourage and assist with carpooling to shows as well as the

singer’s “greening” website that offers include tips and calls to action for

fans with prize incentives.

News of the eco-friendly tour comes after Legend topped

Billboard’s Green 10 list for his work on behalf of various environmental

causes in March.

4. Terrence Howard Sheds More Light on Iron Man 2 Drama

Breaking up may be hard to do, but Terrence Howard isn’t

going out quietly in regards to Marvel Studios’ decision to replace him with

Don Cheadle for the upcoming Iron Man

sequel. Rather than letting it go, the actor is reopening the situation, as he

believes Marvel made “a very, very bad choice” in letting him go.

“They didn’t keep their word. They didn’t honor my contract.

They produced a great bounty with the first one but they put it all in the

storehouse and you were not allowed in,” Howard told Parade magazine as we alluded that Marvel shorted his Iron

Man co-star Gwyneth Paltrow and almost

everyone else with the exception of Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr.

And while it would be easy for him to let the cat out of the

bag as far as details on the highly anticipated sequel after seeing the script,

Terrence will not go there.

“I believe in karma. When someone does something wrong, you

don’t have to get them back. Everything right will return the favor for you,”

said the Oscar nominee, who admitted to looking forward to seeing the film and

Cheadle’s performance as Col. James Rhodes, the role he played in the first Iron

Man.

“I want to see Don Cheadle become me. No, I want him to do

better than me. That’s what I really want to see,” he said. “Don Cheadle was

the reason I got Crash, so I have a lot

of love for him.”

It’s good that he’s supporting Cheadle, but you have to

wonder if Terrence is secretly hoping IM2 doesn’t do as well as the first film.

I guess we’ll find out next year when IM2

hits theaters.

5.

Usher Does Double Duty with the UN and Boys and Girls Clubs

Although it’s been a minute since we’ve head something new

from Usher, the singer hasn’t completely disappeared. He’s just been working

outside the music world with new alliances with the United Nations Foundation.

According to reports, the Foundation and Usher have come together

to launch the Nothing But Nets campaign, a global, grassroots effort that

encourages underprivileged youths to become more pro-active in making a

difference in global issues. Among the issues highlighted by the campaign is

the disease Malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa that is spread by

mosquito bites.

For Usher, the venture comes at a crucial time as it “sends

an important message: youth, regardless of their backgrounds, can make a

difference in this world by taking action through service to save lives. Anyone

can make a difference. All it takes is $10 to send a net and save a life.”

With Nothing But Nets, the UN and Usher are out to raise

funds to help prevent African kids from getting Malaria by supplying more

mosquito nets to civilians. For more information about Nothing But Nets or to

send a net, visit www.NothingButNets.net.

In addition to the UN, Usher is working with the Boys &

Girls Clubs of America to shine a light on the benefits of the organization

through its Be Great campaign. People.com reports that a childhood photo of the

singer is featured on a new billboard for the effort, with the tagline “Be

Iconic.”

‘Be Great’ starts when you’re an infant,” Usher

explained. “It’s what every parent wants of their child. It’s what my mom

wanted of me, and what I want for my kids.

“It’s those around us who motivate us to be iconic.

Places like the Boys & Girls Club helped me be that icon I am today. ‘Be

Iconic’ is not just about status, it’s about what you choose to care about.

What you give your time, attention and focus to.”

In Other Words…

* Beyoncé fans that plan on attending the vocalist’s

upcoming I Am… World tour will be able to help the hungry in addition to

enjoying the Grammy winner’s performance. Media sources report that Beyoncé is

teaming up with a General Mills created national hunger relief campaign to

co-sponsor Show Your Helping Hand food drives during the course of the outing,

which kicks off June 21 in the US.

The initiative will assist the food rescue organization,

Feeding America, in delivering meals to food banks around the country.

* Dancehall artist Sean Paul is coming back to the music

scene with the arrival of Imperial Blaze,

his first album in three years. Paul’s new song, “So Fine” debuts today (May 1)

on radio outlets. Imperial Blaze

is slated to hit stores August 18.

* Toni Braxton has filed a new lawsuit against Lloyd’s of

London amid claims the insurance company is not covering a 2006 concert she

cancelled in light of problems with her heart. In the suit, Braxton claims she

sought coverage from Lloyds after buying “non-appearance” and

“cancellation” insurance. The insurance is noted for protecting

entertainers in case their concerts have to be cancelled.

According to Braxton, Lloyd’s refuses to pay for the losses

at her Flamingo Hotel concert, which never took place. The company cites the

fact that the songbird’s heart problems was an undisclosed, pre-existing

condition. Braxton, who disagrees with Lloyd’s, is suing the company for

undisclosed damages.

* With a popular movie and a role on the hit show The

Office to his credit, life after The

Wire is pretty good for Idris Elba. So

good, in fact that the actor is doing his part to take a stand against knife

crime in his native London by joining forces with The Prince’s Trust charity.

Elba’s involvement comes amid what he sees as “an upsurge in

knife crime in the last five years.” With The Wire being popular overseas, the actor hopes to utilize

his affiliation with the hit show to connect with youth. “The underlying

issues of The Wire are not a

million miles from what British kids are dealing with today. The show is

recognized for its realistic portrayal of urban life where kids hang around on

corners with nothing to do. They are hand-picked by gangsters that offer them

quick money for dirty jobs – this is very similar to the gang and drug culture

emerging in some of the U.K.’s biggest cities.”

* Ashanti is expanding her acting resume with a stint in the

stage revival of The Wiz. The singer

will be featured as Dorothy in the musical, which will run from June 12 through

July 5 at New York City Center as part of its “Encores! Summer Stars”

series.

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor

whispered in our ear. Read on.THE DAILY TWO SENSE

OK. I was talking to a few people over the word H####. Rick Ross called Eminem one of those, but that does that damn word mean? Well, Jo gave me the scoop on it, as well as some others. Back in the day, it wasn’t cool to mix the races. So the brave White dudes used to have to sneak around with the sisters. The guys would pull up a few houses down from where the Black chick lived and would use a series of honks to let her know he was there to pick her up. From there, the Black community would use the term, “H####.” LOL. Now, seriously, I have only ever heard this term on “The Jeffersons” so I am not sure how widespread it really was. Shout out to George and Weezy.

NAS AND KELIS ARE OVER?!

WHAT THE HELL! I gotta admit yall…I have been getting this rumor for the longest time and I kept ignoring it! But sure enough it has come to pass. Man, they have a kid on the way!

The marriage between Queensbridge, NY rapper Nas and R&B songbird Kelis is officially over.

Vibe magazine reports that divorce papers were filed around 3:45 p.m. today (April 30) by attorney Laura Wasser on behalf of Kelis.

The songstress cited verbal abuse and infidelity as the reasons behind the filing.

The split concludes the romantic saga between Nas and Kelis that began when the pair first met in 2002 at an TV Video Music Awards afterparty thrown by rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The meeting at the afterparty resulted in a two-year dating relationship that set the stage for Nas and Kelis’ marriage.

GROUPIE TALES!

I never quite buy into websites devoted to groupies, but here is one and it is now putting rumors about some of rap’s faves. Take Blu for example:

The next tale is about underground hip-hop artist Blu…Here goes

How did you meet Blu?

I have always been a fan of underground hip hop, so when I heard this boy in LA, I was instantly hooked. I went to a few shows, front row, and we talked a few times, but nothing ever really happened until he came to my town. This big music festival came, and I went of course. I had texted him the night before, and he told me to hit him up after his set. We hung around for the rest of the shows, just talked, then went to dinner. After dinner, I went to drive him back to the hotel, and that’s where it all happened. He invited me in, and of course I said yes, He’s amazingly sexy.

How was he in bed?

We started out just chilling and talking, and then we kissed. We moved toward the bed, and boy, he can put it down. He is so good with his fingers! He knows how to get a girl soaking wet. He ate me out for a few minutes. He’s really good with his tongue. He asked for head, and I went down on him for a few minutes. He has thee perfect sized dick, just the right thickness and almost 8 inches. He likes his back scratched during sex, and the louder a girl gets, the more intense he goes. He really likes being on top, and ooh he can work it. Only thing is he does not like his hair pulled, which sucks, because his hair is perfect for pulling. We f**ked missionary, then me riding him, very basic, for about a half an hour, but it was very good. He can get it deep and hit that perfect spot, and his face is absolutely adorable. I give him 4 and 1/2 stars, only because of the hair pulling thing.

Would you do it again?

I would definitely do it again, and actually plan to soon. We’ve kept in touch and are still pretty good friends. We text all the time and are basically just homies. For this reason, and for this reason alone, I don’t considered myself a groupie. We’re friends, and have been for quite some time, and I know he respects me more than the other girls that throw themselves at them. I got mad love for Azulito!

BONE THUGS-IN-HARMONY GO TO WARNER!?!

Rumor is that Bone Thugs-N-Harmony has just officially signed distribution deal to Warner Bros. that will link their own record label BTNH World Wide to a major deal, sealed with promotion, distribution, and more. This record deal is only for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony projects and solos to my understanding. They’re able to own their master’s and be in creative control the group was formerly signed to Interscope Records but is no longer with them. They have just recently signed a new group to their Mo Thug West enterprise called Them Boyz Reck, from Garland, Texas. Mo Thugs Records is owned by Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Mo Thug West is the west wing to the label they signed the act in April. R.KELLY EXPOSE BOOK

There is a new book coming out on R.Kelly called “My Life With R.Kelly.” And the author is a person named “Russell.” The only thing is I have no idea who that is. Do you? OH BOY.

FANSTASIA VS THE BLOGGER!

Apparently, Fantasia Barino got into a “twitter fight” with blogger Necole Bitchie. Apparently, Bitchie said that the “twitter Fantasia” sounded too intelligent to be the real Barrino and the war of words started. I don’t know! Its all very funny. ASHER ROTH ISSUES STATEMENT ABOUT “NAPPY HEADED HOES” COMMENT

As of late, statements I’ve made have been stirring up much controversy and speculation. It is in my best interest that I feel I should address these instances personally and specifically. Truth: I am 23 year old imperfect human being who’s world is drastically changing around him. Facebook is no longer for just me and my friends. Twitter is no longer solely for the watchful eye of my parents. A new responsibility and voice has been placed upon me and is being heard well beyond my immediate peers. I’ve been receiving a crash course on perspectives and a very real sensitivity that exists and is an essential part of our world. With that, I’d like to sincerely apologize for any words that have been misinterpreted and may have offended any man, woman or child.

The twitter situation was an immature attempt to poke fun at an infamously moronic joke. In doing so, I unconsciously stooped to the level of its originator, making it just as bad, if not worse. Pathetic. Lesson learned – nothing good can come from repeating hateful words, regardless of your intentions. Leaving no context in what was being said and being presented through text (no facial or vocal inflection) the sarcasm of the joke (or lack there of) was not properly perceived and left it purely in bad taste. I immediately apologized for my immaturity but the apologies and original post were deleted by my team in an effort to prevent more people from being offended. Unfortunately, the deletion of these statements led several people to believe that my apology was insincere, which is why I have made the decision to release this statement.

The latest quote on giving back was in response to a question about rappers and their money posed to me by the interviewer. With the question and entire vibe of the conversation not being present in the article, when my statement came out in print it appeared as if I was taking black rappers to task randomly. Not the case. Although I do feel strongly about giving back when we are in a position of power and prosperity, it is not my place to talk about what others should do with their lives. Lesson learned: talk about what you know. You can call them mistakes, I call them life lessons. It is my duty as a human being to choose my words carefully, for I am a kind soul who puts a lot of stock in the progess of humans. I am a work in progress, as we all are and I will take this opportunity to learn and grow. Its bigger than an apology, its an understanding.

Moving forward, I hope we can all take some perspective and guidance from the dialogue that has emerged from these situations. I know I already have and will continue to do so.

Onward and upward

With love,

Asher Roth

Looks like Charles Hamilton might be a father? I’m not one so I really didn’t pick up on the “two blue lines” comment. I thought it was some new form of cocaine! Anyway, some girl he’s involved with may have a bun in the oven!

Just so you know, somebody that couldn’t spell the word fluoride hit me up complaining that the chemical was misrepresented. There are dangers with fluoride. If you don’t agree, just do a search.

Shout out to Kangol Kid! The rap OG is hosting a pre-Mother’s day event at Melba’s Restaurant in Harlem on May 5, 2009 @ 7:00 PM. One of the evening’s honorees is none other than Dr. Roxanne Shante! They used to have serious beef!

I won’t go all into it, but as far as faking your own death being illegal, there are actually additional legalities that go into it actually being illegal…if that makes any sense.

For Breeding Ground or music consideration please go to Breeding Ground Submission. Now I don’t have to get all the emails around this subject!

Why can’t old school rappers update their style for the new era? Just wondering.

SIGNS THE END OF THE WORLD IS COMING

In PA, USA, they get it IN. Here you go everybody. Are you ready for this?

Two elderly sisters from Monroe County, Pennsylvania have been arrested for allegedly distributing drugs.

Elizabeth Marie Grube, 70, and her 65-year-old sister, Elaine Volkert, are facing drug charges after being arrested on April 14.

Investigators said they seized 400 bags of heroin with a street value of $8,000 and more than $2,000 from the home of Grube in the 1000 block of Ehler Street.

On the same day, a task force seized 988 bags of heroin with a street value of $20,000 and approximately $1,600 in cash from Volkert’s home also in the 1000 block of Ehler Street. Police also seized quantities of Oxycontin and marijuana during the search.

According to investigators, both Grube and Volkert had been selling between 500 and 1,500 bags of heroin every two weeks for the past two months. Prior to selling heroin, the sisters had been selling crack cocaine, police said.

SAD!!!!!! They ain’t making it to God.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY!

OH NO! This is way too much fail to comprehend. I have heard of drunk driving, but drunk riding is a new one. Cops in Tunnel Hill, Ga don’t play and if you are a drunk that likes horse, you will have a problem! According to WTVC-TV two men were arrested for riding their horse around the town while DRUNK. The men were on the highway riding the horses and the cops pulled them over because it appeared like they were barely hanging on. What is a shame is the men say they were just riding some horses that were a bit unruly that night. What’s even worse was that they got arrested for regular DWI as if they were driving a car. SMH.

Aaron Cooley questions “How can you get a DUI on something it don’t take a license to operate? I don’t understand.”

Police Chief Roy Brunson says riders have the same rights on the road as drivers and therefore the same responsibilities. He says his officers have to watch out for public safety.

“A horse is like 1,200 pounds and you pull it out in front of a car and you can have a seriously injured or dead animal.”

I think the cops are off on this one. SMH at them creating new laws on the spot.
