Muslims Banned From Black Eyed Peas Concert

The government of Malaysia has banned Muslims from attending a Black Eyed Peas concert in the country, because the event is sponsored by alcohol company Guinness.

The government issued the ban after learning that the Black Eyed Peas would be celebrating the 250th anniversary of Guinness first brewery as part of a concert at a theme park in Kuala Lumpur on September 25.

The party is only open to non-Muslims aged 18 years and above, a representative for the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture said. Muslims cannot attend. Non-Muslims can go and have fun.

Officials almost canceled the entire concert because the government does not permit alcoholic beverage companies from organizing concerts.

The Malaysian government made an exception for the Peas concert to boost tourism, but Guinness has been forbidden from displaying their logo at the event.

The banning of Muslims is the latest incident involving liquor in the country.

According to reports, in August, a Muslim woman sentenced by an Islamic court, to be caned, for drinking beer in public.

Something else I want to address is this notion that Drake is better than Jay-Z. I dont know where you come from, but I come from a place where you have to have a certain tenure in the game before you can talk about titles, crowns or being the best. Drakes nice with it, butcome one guys. Let the man drop a classic album first and lets talk.

JAY-Z / TIMBERLAND SONGS REAL?

I know that title sounds pretty stupid, but let me explain. Some people are informing me or reminding me of my own rumors. I remember very little of what I write, because it is so much to retain every day. BUT, it should be noted that all the songs that are being leaked out on Jay-Z are the songs with Timbaland. I am being told that there is a reason for this. Timbalands camp has a leak. LOL! But also – and this could be wishful thinking by some – but these are unfinished songs that are coming out. The rumor is the finished records are actually unfinished or not ones that will be included on the album. I dont know, because some of the song titles actually match up. On top of that, no statement has been released from Jay-Zs camp over this. As alwaysWELL SEE!

I know it wasnt done on purpose, but did that Drake, Eminem, Wayne, Kanye song just duff out that Jay-Z Mars Vs Venus? Something fishy is going on here!

MAX BHOPING TO GET OUT!

You may have gotten this in our recent interview with French Montana. Well, Frenchie didnt go in too deep about the matter, but he did say that Max B is looking to get out of jail. How? Apparently, they are trying to get a mistrial declared on the case. On what grounds? I dont know. Nevertheless, Max B and his legal team are fighting feverishly to get him out of the bing.

DRAKE POPS UP IN MEMPHIS WITH HIS DADDY!

And when I say Daddy, I dont mean Birdman! LOL! Seriously, Drake is some kind of regular dude or something. I am being told that he was visiting family in Memphis recently. What? A star that visits his family? Unheard of! Anyway one of my readers got to kick it wit Drake last night while he was there in Memphis visiting family. My reader (not saying his name so I dont blow up the spot) says Drake was a real cool and humble. He said the whole family kicked it at Wet Willies downtown on Beale Street where Drake joined them all in a quick karaoke rendition. He and his father also did a rendition together. After kicking in Wet Willies for a few hours they headed to the strip club, “Platinum Rose” for a night cap. Memphis loves Drake now. Thats very cool.

Remember the rumors about Gucci? That he was in rehab after failing his pi$$ test? Well, its looking like he may be out. I am hearing that Gucci Mane and OJ da Juice Man are working with a cat named Mall G on a new mixtape, I am being told. Now, I am told they also are going to be working with Big Mike. Jadakiss Issues Statement Regarding Drug Raid

Def Jam Recording artist Jadakiss issued a statement early Wednesday evening distancing himself from a recent raid of his Yonkers, New York apartment.

The home was searched by local law enforcement following the arrest of 25-year-old Alberto Lajara and 39-year-old Gabriel R. Henriquez, who presumably reside in the Van der Donck Street apartment, leased under Jadakiss legal name, Jason Phillips.

According to published reports, Lajara and Henriquez were arrested on Friday (August 21) and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct; and felonious second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, second-degree assault, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, respectively.

On Saturday (August 22), police executed a search warrant for the apartment in question, recovering five grams of heroin, six and a half pounds of marijuana and $40,000 in cash.

“What happened on Saturday was an unfortunate situation but one in which I have no involvement in, Jadakiss told AllHipHop.com in a statement. Since the release of my recent album The Last Kiss, I have been on the road touring and promoting my project. I am focused on my performance schedule and career.”

The statement is consistent with sources who, following the raid, reported that the police were not looking for the popular Ruff Ryders rapper.

With a beavy of A-List appearances by the likes of Swizz Beatz, Mary J. Blige, OJ da Juiceman, Young Jeezy, Ghostface Killa, Raekwon, and fellow D-Block/LOX members Styles P and Sheek Louch, The Last Kiss marked Jadas highest first week chart position as a solo artist.

The album, his third solo offering and the first on Def Jam Records, debuted at the #3 position on the Billboard Hot 200.

The Last Kiss remained on the chart for 19 weeks following its April 25 release.

I am hearing a pretty interesting rumor about Jay-Z! I think the title says it all, but there’s a bit more. After the initial release of BP3, Jay-Z is supposedly going to settle down a bit and tour. Eminem, on the other side, is going to be dropping Relapse 2 in November. These dudes are rumored to be setting up “The Renegade Tour,” where they go out together. Now, here is the cool part of the rumor. I am hearing that they will alternate nights as closer. How cool – no egos! So, every other venue one of them will close the show. They also said that they may play shows back to back, where they would alternate closing as well. Now, I heard that J. Cole and Wale are possible openers for this tour.

My source on this tells me the tour – should it come to life – will be historic!

Bump J. Pleads Guilty To Bank Robbery; Faces Seven Years

Up-and-coming Chicago rapper Bump J faces a minimum of seven years in a federal prison after admitting his guilt in a 2007 local bank robbery earlier today (August 26).

In November 2008, the former Atlantic Records artist was arrested during a routine traffic stop in Carbondale, Illinois, about two hours east of St. Louis, Missouri.

He was charged as one of two gunmen suspected of robbing a Chicago Chase Bank on January 4, 2007.

The robbery, during which no one was injured, was captured on a surveillance camera.

Earlier today (August 26) Bump J, born Terrance Boykin, accepted a plea agreement thus avoiding the mandatory life sentence he would have received if found guilty of menacing bank employees with a .45 caliber handgun.

The plea agreement not withstanding, Bump J would have also faced 37 – 46 months in prison for the robbery itself.

In exchange for admitting his involvement in the robbery and admitting to threatening the employees of the Chase Bank at 800 Madison Street in Chicago, Bump J now faces a mandatory minimum seven years for the brandishing a gun during a crime of violence.

On Tuesday (September 1), Judge Charles R. Norgle will hand down a sentence in the case. Throughout this ordeal, Bump J has remained relatively quiet.

He maintained a blog at BumpJ.Blogspot.com up until just days prior to his arrest, through which he posted new music and commentary on the Chicago Hip-Hop scene.

Bump J’s last entry on the blog was a congratulatory video recorded on Election Day, November 4, 2008.

The rapper was arrested the following week.

Nate Mathers Gets Probation For 2nd DUI Charge

Eminems younger brother appeared in court today (August 26) to face sentencing for a DUI charge.

Nate Mathers, 23, was originally pulled over in April, after he failed to yield for an ambulance in Macomb Township.

A field sobriety test revealed the rappers blood alcohol level was at 0.16, more than twice the Michigans legal limit of .008.

Last month, Mathers, who raps under the alias Nate Kane, pleaded guilty to his second offense of operating a vehicle while visibly impaired.

Today, Mathers was ordered to serve 100 hours of community service in addition to paying $1,000 in fines and court costs.

Additionally, Mathers must attend an outpatient counseling for liquor and drugs and consistent monitoring for alcohol consumption.

If the fines are not paid by this Friday (August 28), Mathers will face 100 days in jail. Township’s district court.

Nathan Mathers, who raps as Nate Kane, is the brother of Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem.

AHH Stray News: Hancock 2, Snoop, Queen Latifah, Dilla

The sequel to the Will Smith helmed blockbuster Hancock has started to take shape. According to reports, Columbia recently hired writers Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara to write the plot for Hancock 2, although details about the sequel are being kept secret. Fierro and Mazzara are working with director Peter Berg and Will Smith himself to pen the sequel, which will be a continuation of the original flick. Fierro has written and produced episodes of The Shield, 24 and Dexter, while Mazzara has written for Life and The Shield. At press time a confirmed release date was not available for Hancock 2.

Snoop Dogg is in Moscow tonight (August 26), where he will give a show to thousands of Russian fans. Snoop is slated to appear at the Black Star, a club on top of the Yevropeisky Mall. The club is owned by one of Russias most popular rappers, Timati. Snoop, who recently recorded a song with Timati earlier this year, is expected to perform hits from his catalog, in addition to new selections from his upcoming album Malice in Wonderland.

According to reports, rapper/actress Queen Latifah is in negotiations to star in a film about the life of Madam CJ Walker. Producers Michael Kimbrew and Craig Ross Jr. recently licensed the rights to Walkers life from ALelia Bundles, a relative of Walkers who authored the book On Her Own Ground, The Life and Times of Madam CJ Walker. Walker was born in 1867 and rose through the post-reconstruction era after the Civil War to create her own African-American owned cosmetic company, the Madam C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company. Walker, who has her own stamp, is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the first female millionaire who earned her own fortune.

Soul Train On Track To Hit Big Screen

A new feature is being developed based on Soul Train, the legendary music/dance show created by Don Cornelius.

Porter/Geller Productions has been tapped to produce the flick along with Cornelius, who was also Soul Trains longtime host.

The new flick will be set in Los Angeles in the 1980s and center around a character named Protag who is a gifted popper seeking to land a spot on the Soul Train Tour.

Soul Train will be written by Malcolm Spellman who is credited with writing the popular movie Dead Presidents, which starred Larenz Tate, Chris Tucker, Keith David and others.

“All of the Hip-Hop street dances you see today were born during that time period and were first seen on that show, and I remember doing all of them when I was a kid,” Spellman told Variety. “This guy is a serious popper, with street edge, and he wants to get on that tour, with the hottest of the hot.”

Soul Train premiered in August of 1970 and has been on the air or in syndication for almost 39 years.

No release date was available for Soul Train the movie as of press time.

Footage Fa Dayz – Cypress Hill – 2000

In this weeks Footage Fa Dayz, we take you back to a cold, Winter night in downtown Detroit. Rap group Cypress Hill had sold out the legendary Saint Andrews Theater.

In this episode, Champtown caught the Los Angeles based rap group on their tour bus, shortly before they took to the stage.

This clip is of note, because it reveals the personal nature of the beef between Cypress Hill and rapper Ice Cube.

The feud between Cypress Hill and Ice Cube erupted after B-Real accused Ice Cube of stealing a hook from the demo version of their Temples of Boom (1995) album and using it on the Friday soundtrack (1995).

The group dissed Ice Cube on the track No Rest for the Wicked, on the final version of Temples of Boom, while Cube fired back with shots of his own on the track King of the Hill from West Side Connections controversial, debut album Bow Down (1996).

Cypress Hill took the beef up a notch with their track Ice Cube Killa.

Because of gang affiliations, the feud continued to grow between the crews until 1997, when a peace agreement was reached and the beef was put on hold.

Ice Cube and B-Real even recorded some tracks together after the feud, but as you can see from this clip in 2000, the subject was still a source of tension for the group.

People warned us hey dont get to close with dude because of this and that, B-Real said in 2000. We were like hey f**k you dont talk about Cube that way, hes our boy. It was kind of f**ked up cause s**t, I had been to his wedding and everything and I consider myself being his friend from being invited to his wedding. Then that s**t happened and I felt really f**king insulted. And I reacted like any other emcee would, you know, any man would. It doesnt matter that hes Cube. He doesnt scare us. We got our own s**t. Were at that status where hes at. He couldnt scare us off like anybody us. He couldnt blackball us cause we been around too.

Today, Cypress Hill is literally thousands of miles from West coast beef.

Oakland veteran Yukmouth is preparing to hit his fans with a deluge of music for the remainder of 2009 and early 2010.

In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, Yukmouth laid out his tentative schedule of new collaboration albums and projects.

Right now were working on the new Thug Lordz, me and C-Bo, [then] The Regime with me, Tech N9ne, the Mob, [and] my solo s**t after, Yukmouth explained to AllHipHop.com. West Coast Don just dropped. My next album is JJ: Based on a True Story, United Ghettos of America Volume II: Eye Candy, and United Ghettos Volume III. So Im working my n*gga, were pushing, grinding and shining.

Regarding release dates, Yukmouth estimated that the albums will be balanced equally the rest of the year and 2010.

Yo Gotti: Yeah I’m great. I don’t know, I woke up one morning and one of my partners told me that it was on the Rumor page on AllHipHop.com. I don’t really know where it came from or anything like that. I’m great.

AllHipHop.com: When I hear your voice- no matter who else is on the track, I automatically know it’s you. What influences your style when it comes to your delivery and lyrics?

Yo Gotti: I think like… I think you can feel the subject matter that I’m talking ’bout. You can feel the pain in exactly what I’m saying within my voice. It makes you feel like you’re right there or like you knew. You can be from New York, when you hear me talking on all my songs, you feel like you’re from North Memphis and you know [what I’m saying] it’s true. I’m saying I’ve got other rappers who are like “I’m kind of natural” [with] what I’m doing and what I’m talking about because it’s real, I’m not trying to be something [I’m not].

AllHipHop.com: How would you describe growing up in North Memphis?

Yo Gotti: I think it’s like typical to any hood, anywhere. Only thing is just like growing up in New York, Los Angeles or any other city, it’s the same thing, the same struggle. We’re just trying to hustle and make a better way for our family, you know what I’m saying. Get in a better position.

AllHipHop.com: What would you classify your music as? How does it differ from other Southern Rap?

Yo Gotti: I call it “Reality Music” you know what I’m saying. Even though they put it in the category as Gangster Rap, I consider my music “Reality Music” because it will always be what’s real life, something I’ve done or something I’ve been in reach or distant of. It’s never going to be something that doesn’t make sense.

AllHipHop.com: Coming up in your success, did it find it difficult to gain national attention being that you weren’t from southern hot spots Atlanta or Florida?

Yo Gotti: Yeah it may have took me a lil’ longer than it took one of those artist who was in that situation, but I don’t complain. I don’t complain because where I come from the hardest [situations] were getting me anyways. That’s typical life where I’m from.

AllHipHop.com: You and Gucci Mane seem to have a special chemistry and you two defiantly compliment each other. Have you ever thought about doing a duo album with him?

Yo Gotti: We’ve done a mixtape- our own mixtape in like 3 or 4 days. When ever we’re in the same city or on the road doing the same shows, we always get in the studio and do something the fans want to hear you know. We’re having fun, getting money and giving the fans what they want.

AllHipHop.com: Now I’m confused with this one, were you ever signed to Cash Money?

Yo Gotti: I never been signed to Cash Money. I just describe them as my home boys. I was looking at Twitter when Bow Wow signed to Cash Money and a lot of people were making references to me saying I was signed to Cash Money. But I have a production deal with Cash Money/Universal and I have an artist name with All Star, who signed me through Cash Money. That’s my business with Cash Money but we’re like family so I’m always used to being with them and running with them. They done a lot of things for me, helped me and showed me a lot of things. People think that I was signed to them but I was never signed to them.

AllHipHop.com: Speaking of Bow Wow, how do you feel about the new act signing over to Cash Money? With Bow Wow, that’s not the image a lot of people see for him nor Cash Money.

Yo Gotti: I mean like I said Cash Money is my family so you know I always know Baby and Slim would always do something because they’re smart They’re gon’ always do something that makes sense, and hopefully they’ll work for the best. I mean they had to feel like it was smart for them to do it so you know I just wish him [Bow Wow] the best.

AllHipHop.com: You’re now on an independent label right?

Yo Gotti: Naw I’m with J Records. I just signed the deal, this deal is fresh.

AllHipHop.com: So how is that going so far, are you liking it over there?

Yo Gotti: You know we put out the single “5 Star”, we have the video- it’s on 106 & Park countdown right now, I think it’s like number 17 on the charts and growing. So far so good but I’m an independent dude, I’m always going to function in that independent manner. Everyday I wake up, I’m going to do what I have to do to make sure Yo Gotti gets to the next point. I’m not going to get on J Records and wait on nobody. I’m going to work with them, but I ain’t never gon’ stop working independently.

AllHipHop.com: Your recent release was within the mixtape series Cocaine Muzik, tell us about that.

Yo Gotti: I like to work with a lot of different DJs. I done did my second mixtape with Drama- Cocaine Muzik 2 and I done dropped Cocaine Muzik 3 with DJ Scream- that’s in the streets now. We’re probably going to put out Cocaine Muzik 4 with my new artist from South Memphis Zed Zilla- we’re doing it together. But I’m trying to peep which DJ we ‘gon roll with on this one. I like to work with different DJs.

AllHipHop.com: It seems like you have no problem constantly keeping your fans loaded with new music. Whether it be a mixtape or an album, you drop these projects within the same year- sometimes even months apart. How do you stay successful doing this?

Yo Gotti: I treat this rap game just as if I was hustling in the streets. I was hustling, I try to be the 1st one out, I stayed out the latest. It’s the same thing in the rap game. I’m trying to get in the studio today. I leave the studio 5 in the morning and when I wake up I’m back in there. I treat it as the same hustle you know what I’m saying?

AllHipHop.com: What’s a basic studio session like with Yo Gotti?

Yo Gotti: A basic studio session with Yo Gotti is you know me, a couple of my home boys from the hood, my artists who I work with- you know I like to have them in the studio with me even if they ain’t recording, just to see what I’m doing. From time to time, we turn it into a small get to together, but most of the time I’m focused and just straight working.

AllHipHop.com: You mentioned you have an artist, are there any other artists that you have lined up?

Yo Gotti: On All Star the artists I have signed to me is through Cash Money. Zed Zilla is the newest artist I just signed.

AllHipHop.com: Of course you’re single out right now is “5 Star”, how’s your journey in finding a “5 Star” chick? Do you have one yet?

Yo Gotti: (laughs) You know I’m still looking for a “5 Star” chick.

AllHipHop.com: So you’re still looking for one, well where are some places you might look?

Yo Gotti: I just look where ever I be, like right now I’m in the mall on an interview and I may run into one in here, I don’t know.

AllHiphop.com: The name of your upcoming album is Live From The Kitchen. What does this title mean?

Yo Gotti: Live From The Kitchen is a term towards everywhere it started. On a street level, you put it together in the kitchen, but not only that, you can create your plan in the kitchen, you can be at the kitchen table counting your money. So the overall meaning of it is that’s where the plan started, where you cook the plan up at.

AllHipHop.com: What type of approach are you taking with this album? Is it going to be different from any of the previous albums you’ve done before?

Yo Gotti: My subject matter is always going to be the same ’cause this is my life, I’m telling you about what I done and what I done seen. I’m just making sure that I get with the right producers to give it that universal sound… to tell my story in that universal sound.

AllHipHop.com: Do you think you think “Trap Rap” will get old?

Yo Gotti: Like I said, I only know the lifestyle that I live and every song I rap about isn’t no “I’m trapping”. It may be something that falls off the lands of it meaning if you were hustling before you may know something about going to jail or having people in jail. So I may make a song that’s strictly about jail. You may have a song about people coming into your house and your family getting caught up in the mix of what you’re doing. So there’s many different subjects to declare your lifestyle- that’s what I do. I just don’t simple base it on “I’m selling this, I’m selling that.”

AllHipHop.com: Who can we expect to be on this album? Is there anybody not lined up but you would like to work with?

Yo Gotti: I had this record that I wanted to do with T.I. before he went in. That’s just about the only person right now that I couldn’t get a song with.

AllHipHop.com: Who can we expect on the album?

Yo Gotti: I already did a song with Rick Ross- that’s crazy. I have my one with Lil’ Wayne- that’s crazy. I’m going to do one with Gucci too but outside of them, I’m just focusing on the features that are like singles, off the course [of the song].

AllHipHop.com: After Live From The Kitchen, what can you say is next for you?

Yo Gotti: I mean I’m just trying to be the ultimate hustler so what ever comes my way that volumes to 100 to 200 to 500 [show] tickets, what’s what I’m trying to do you know.

AllHipHop.com: After your done with rapping, how would you like to be portrayed in the game? For example Jay-Z.

Yo Gotti: I just want to be remembered as the realest dude in it. The dude that stood for something. I’m not into all that industry sh*t. Like money can’t buy me- you have to stand for something.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has a space program that first launched a ways back, but recently launched a rocket into space. Nowthe first one they spent a about $5,000. But this one they had a budget of $50 STACKS to blast something off into space. Well, it failed. Still the rocket supposedly went over three times the speed of sound! Yay! AllHipHop ChartWatch: Black Eyed Peas Saving Hip-Hop?

Judging from the comments on last weeks article I know that the fans out there are either devastated or overjoyed about the numbers put up by Slaughter House. I myself liked the album (once I finally found it in a store) and think it was a good first effort from the group. Sadly (Yeah, Im biasedI like Slaughter House) they didnt make the countdown this week. As a matter of fact, there is only one Hip Hop group on the top ten for the week of August 26, 2009 (Guess who it is?). So heres the top 10.

Once again a country music star claims the number one spot. Reba McEntires Keep On Loving You sits at number one this week. Since we are on country music you might as well know that George Straits Twang is at number three.

The late, great King of Pop holds two spots on the countdown this week. His albums, Michael Jacksons Number Ones and The Essential Michael Jackson, each hold the second and ninth spot, respectively.

At the number four spot is Third Eye Blind with their latest album Ursa Major followed by Kings of Leons Only By The Night at number at number five.

Coming up at number six is the only spot of Hip Hop on the countdown for this week. Ive had issues with this group but they continue to hold onto the charts and break records. The Black Eyed Peas sell 40,000 copies of their latest studio album The E.N.D and stay on the countdown for the twentieth consecutive week. Their single Boom Boom Pow has held position on Billboards Hot 100 Singles chart breaking the records of artist like Elvis, Michael Jackson, and The Beatles.

Following the record breakers is the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack. Your kidsI mean, I know you love themare really messing up the radio.

Rounding out the top ten are Neil Diamond at number eight with Hot August Night/NYC and Taylor Swift at ten with Fearless.

Moving beyond the top ten we have Fabolous whose latest album Losos Way moves 17,700 units and holds the number 24 spot. He is followed by Eminem whose latest studio album, Relapse, sells 17,500 copies and holds the number 27 position.

Dropping this Week

First up we have an artist out of South Carolina. Lil Ru drops his Def Jam debut 21 & Up. I dont know too much about Lil Ru except for the fact hes at Def Jam and he has a single titled The Nasty Song. If you know anything about him (or you just happen to be nasty) let us know something (about Lil Runot about your nastiness).

Next up, coming out of Memphis, is Lil Wyte with his latest album The Bad Influence. The last time I saw Lil Wyte he was on that Three 6 Mafia reality show, Adventures in Hollyhood. If youre a fan of Three 6 or just Memphis in general then you should look out for this album.

Coming out of Los Angels is Mr. Capone-E with his latest album, Diary of a G. (Gs keep diaries?….nevermind) The album features Snoop Dog, Mr. Criminal, and Lucky Luciano. Its a Westcoast album so if you like their sound then pick it up.

The next group comes out of New Orleans and use to have a long running feud with Cash Money. (Really they had a beef with the rap group UNLV and since I havent heard from UNLV in abouta decade or twoIm assuming the beef is over. You never know). Partners-N-Crime drop their ninth studio album We Are Legends. If youre a fan of the New Orleans bounce scene then youll probably already know about this album.

Last up we have a new one from Queen Latifah. Now I am pretty sure that most of you are like me and had no idea Queen Latifah was still recording music (I like the movies), let alone dropping an album. Her latest is called Persona and features Busta Rhymes, Mary J. Blidge, Jadakiss, Pharrell, and Marsha Ambrosius. Now she says its about half rap and half singing so if your into the Queen the pick it up.

Chris Brown Sentenced to Five Years Probation for Rihanna Assault

The assault case against Chris Brown entered a new phase as the R&B singer/actor was sentenced to five years probation and six months community labor Tuesday (August 25) for beating his former girlfriend, Rihanna.

Rihanna was not present for the hearing as Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg also ordered Brown to stay 100 yards away from the R&B/pop diva for five years unless they are attending music industry events.

In this case, the pair can come within 10 yards of each other. Brown will serve his probation sentence in his home state of Virginia.

The 20-year-old crooners community labor will be at the Commonwealth Catholic Charities in Richmond, VA, where Schnegg ensured that Brown will take a yearlong domestic violence course and perform physical labor rather than community service.

As part of Browns probation, he must stay in touch with a probation officer in Los Angeles and is subject to search and seizure at any time over the next five years.

In addition, the crooner cannot own any dangerous weapons, including guns or knives and must provide DNA samples as requested by authorities.

Browns sentence also calls for him to get prior approval before leaving the country. If the singer violates any part of his sentence, he could be sent to state prison.

News of Browns sentencing is the latest development following the singers violent encounter with Rihanna prior to this years Grammy Awards.

According to a probation report prepared for the hearing, the couple was involved in heated exchanges in the past. Three months prior to the February altercation, an incident occurred when Brown and Rihanna were traveling in Europe.

The report noted how Brown shoved Rihanna into a wall after the songbird slapped him during an argument.

Another incident documented in the report centered on Brown allegedly breaking the front and passenger side windows on a Range Rover driven by the couple while visiting Rihannas native Barbados.

Neither incidents were not reported, according to the probation report.

Musically, Brown is working on new material for his upcoming album, Graffiti.

The songs Changed ManandNot My Fault have struck a nerve with music fans, as lyrics from both songs seem to address Browns current drama.

A rep for Browns label, Jive Records, revealed that Changed Man was recorded before Browns assault case, while Not My Fault and another track Smash were actually demo tracks that were not intended for release.

Young Rapper Wins Album Through D.A.R.E. Contest

An 18-year-old aspiring rapper recently won the opportunity to record his album for free as part of the D.A.R.E. America songwriting contest.

Brandon B. Arch Archer took part in a contest held by D.A.R.E., which was open to contestants interested in pursuing a career in the recording industry.

He submitted the winning essay and original rap song and was awarded the opportunity to record his album at Wavaflow Studios in Los Angeles, a state of the art recording facility.

When I was 12, we were driving past Washington High School [in Los Angeles]. She saw this dude smoking. She looked at him and shook her head, then she looked at me and said promise me youll never smoke. And from then on I promised her and I always remembered that. I never smoked anything, never will. Its been easy for me to say no, because its just not something I want to do.

D.A.R.E., which is an acronym for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, was founded in 1983 in Los Angeles to teach children from kindergarten though 12th grade how to avoid drugs, gangs and peer pressure.

The nationwide program is implemented in 75 percent of the schools throughout the United States and in 43 countries worldwide.

Wavaflow Studios is owned by Brazilian producer Wagner Fulco, who has worked with artists like actor Antonio Banderas, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Luciano Pavarotti, Ziggy Marley and numerous others.

A release date was not available for B. Arch’s debut album.

Woman Beat At 50’s Mansion For Refusing Oral Sex

A man employed by 50 Cents G-Unit Records is accused of attacking a woman last Sunday (August 16), after she refused his requests for oral sex.

News broke last week that Dwayne McKenzie, 28, and Michelle Krzykowski, 21, were accused of assaulting a woman on 50 Cents sprawling mansion in Farmington, Connecticut.

The incident began after McKenzie made the request, which resulted in an argument between McKenzie and one of the womans friends.

When the two women and their friends attempted to leave, Krzykowski attacked one of the women, striking her in the head with a hard object, as McKenzie held the woman down.

The unknown woman, who had danced in music videos in the past, managed to pepper spray McKenzie, Krzykowski, flee the scene and call 911.

According to the Hartford Courtant, the womans head wound was serious, requiring a total of 9 staples to close the gash.

Krzykowski has told police that she was intoxicated during the assault and only remembers that the women had called her a cracker.

Juelz Arrested For Threatening Girlfriend; Released

Harlem rapper Juelz Santana was arrested this morning (August 25) after allegedly threatening to kill the mother of his child.

According to reports, the woman called 911 this morning during a domestic dispute at their Teaneck, New Jersey home.

Although the wife did not need medical attention, Juelz, born LaRon James, was officially arrested on domestic battery charges.

“Police were called to Juelz Santana’s home in Teaneck, New Jersey at 10:00 am after an argument between him and his son’s mother,” a rep for Juelz confirmed with AllHipHop.com. “LaRon James p/k/a Juelz Santana was then arrested and after review of the incident, police quickly released him. Santana is now resting comfortably at his home.”

50, Drake, Busta Support Kay Slay On ‘More Than Just a DJ’

New York DJ Kay Slay has announced plans to release a brand new album titled More Than Just A DJ.

The popular Hot 97 DJ has enlisted an all-star cast for More Than Just A DJ, which features cameos by Busta Rhymes, Bun B., Ghostface, Raekwon, 50 Cent, Jim Jones, Drake, Juelz Santana, Joell Ortiz, OJ Da Juiceman and others.

There is a lot of talk about bringing New York Hip-Hop back, Kay Slay said in a statement. I was a part of the birth of our culture, and my new album does not disappoint. More Than Just a DJ is bringing real Hip-Hop back!”

More Than Just a DJ is Kay Slays fifth official independent release, following his albums DJ Kay Slay & Greg Street presents: The Champions – North Meets South (2006) and The Soul Controller (2007).

The first single from Kay Slays new album is titled Blockstars and features Plies, Jim Jones, Busta Rhymes & Ray J.

A second single titled Thug Luv featuring Maino, Papoose, Red Café and Ray J. is currently being planned as well.

DJ Kay Slays More Than Just a DJ is due in stores October 13 on E1 Music.

No need to go outside and look for yourself. Trust me. I’m on the Internet so what I say must be true.

The sky is falling.

Rush to your neighbors and tell them too. Keep your head down as you do this as not to look at the sky because its falling and you don’t want to get hurt.

Tell everyone you know that the sky is falling but be sure to say it like this:

“I heard/someone told me/read somewhere the sky is falling.”

Make sure to say it with such conviction that they have no choice to believe you. In a panic they will then pass the same information along to their network.

Think you could never fall victim to the hype? Well guess again. This sort of thing happens all the time. We’ve become so accustomed to others telling us what’s news that we are too lazy to dig for ourselves.

Last week I wrote about Prez Obama’s health care reform plan. What amused me the most was some readers’ colorful responses, or should I call them verbal jabs, because I admitted to not having read the fine print of the reform plan.

Each week, the purpose of my column is to take social and political issues that are overlooked by Hip Hoppers add to them my opinion, a dash of humor to make it easily digestible, throw in some fact or links to some facts and leave it up to you to dig more and formulate your own view.

How many writers, bloggers, journalists will tell you when they don’t know the full facts? How many would have faked the funk and built themselves up to be an expert? Well I could have played the smarty arty role but I can’t lie to you.

Writing about non music related topics for an entertainment thirsty society has always been a challenge. I still fight with editors about their insistence that rappers photos be used as art for The X Fact(her).

You think I don’t know that Jay-Z has nothing to do with urban farming? Without his image, how many would have clicked the headline to read that article or any other of my columns that didn’t feature a rapper in the art?

When I was the News Editor at The Source I always fought to prove that we didn’t have to dumb things down in order for the readers to get it. Nevertheless I had to include the meaningless quotes of D-List rappers who could care less about the issue at hand because that was what the bosses felt the reader need in order to relate. I won’t even tell you who was on my “I need a political quote from a rapper” call list.

Since I began writing this column there are a couple things that I’ve learned:

– Knowing is half the battle. The other half is doing something with that knowledge. People like being in the dark. Its so easy to say you didn’t know and blame it on ignorance than to be enlightened and forced to do something with that knowledge.

– For some my race is really an issue. What does my skin color have to do with the merit of my work? (Going back to being misinformed, a simple google search of my name will turn up several pictures but I guess for some it much easier to sling mud than do some research.)

– Making people care about what’s going on in the world is a tough job

– Prez Obama has done little to nothing to restore Hip-Hop’s faith in the government.

Ultimately, the X Fact(her) is one woman’s attempt to spark a dialogue, a break from the monotony.

Sorry if I don’t tell you what to think or how to think it.

Spoon feeding you is not my objective. You get enough of that everyday.
