Rapper Swizz Beat will perform a free show tonight (August 21) at the Apple store in Manhattan. The producer-turned-rapper will perform singles like “It’s Me Snitches: and “Money in the Bank,” tracks from his latest release The One Man Band, which hit stores today. The performance takes place at the Apple store on Prince Street, in the SoHo district of Manhattan and kicks of at 6:00 PM. Despite the hit single and album, Swizz still staying busy in the production world, working on tracks for artists like Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Cassidy, Usher, Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, Marc Anthony, Trina, Busta Rhymes, Solange Knowles, Kanye West and others. According to sources, Swizz Beatz is also working on a new album coming from superstar rapper DMX titled The Dog.
A Tribe Called Quest will be honored during VH1’s Fourth Annual Hip Hop Honors. The legendary, Queens, NY based group joins rappers Whodini, Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliott, Teddy Riley and former rapper turned mogul, Andre Harrell as honorees at this years event. The evening, which will be hosted by comedian Tracy Morgan, will feature an all-star line up of talent from the rap world, including performances by Eve, Pharrell Williams, The Game, Common, Busta Rhymes, Timbaland, Bow Wow, Nick Cannon, T.I., T-Pain, Keyshia Cole, Chris Rock and others. The Fourth Annual Hip Hop Honors will tape be taped at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on October 4 and will air on VH1 on Monday October 8 at 10:00 PM.
Polo Grounds Music artist Hurricane Chris recently hit #1 on Billboard’s Mastertone Chart’s in the United States, based off of selling more than 1.2 million Mastertone copies of his hit single “A Bay Bay.” The single has sold a total of 1.4 million total mobile downloads of ringbacks, voicetones and videos. The single spend six consecutive weeks at #2 before overtaking the #1 position. Hurricane Chris recently released his second single titled “The Hand Clap,” which is also a single taken from his upcoming album 51/50 Ratchet, which lands in stores October 16th.
Rapper Yung Berg recently joined the Screamfest 07 tour, which currently features rappers T.I., Yung Joc, T-Pain, Ciara and others. The Epic recording artist will perform hits off his upcoming debut album Look What You Made Me, which includes the hit single “Sexy Lady.” Screamfest 07 is presented by BET, Scream Star Entertainment and Michael Mauldin’s and Mauldin Brand Agency.
