Block Entertainment,
in conjunction with Atlanta’s V-103, is set to host a series of block parties
this summer, organized by Bad Boy South’s President, Russell "Block"
Spencer.
A total of four
Summer Block Parties will be held every two weeks with the first one taken place
today (June 21) from 2pm-8pm.
“Our first party will be in Herndon Homes,” Block told AllHipHop.com.
“[V-103’s] Ryan Cameron will host a live remote from there along with
Greg Street. It’s important that we let the ‘hood know that we know
where we come from.”
Block will also be giving away prizes such as studio time and the opportunity
to record a demo. The block parties are being put on as part of a community
initiative of Block Enterprises’ Turning Pennies to Dollaz Foundation.
“Just like the Easter Egg Hunt we had last April [for the Kirkwood community],
we will show the kids of Herndon Homes a good time with music, food, fun, and
games,” explained Block. “They will get a chance to literally see
us giving back.”
In February, Block inked a multi-million dollar label deal with Sean "Diddy"
Combs’ Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment and Warner Music Group (WMG).
As president of Bad Boy South, Block will oversee new music releases from Boyz
N Da Hood, as well as solo albums from rappers Yung Joc, Big Gee, Jody Breeze
and rock n’ soul artist Jill Rock Jones. Block also co-manages rapper Rick Ross.
