LaGrange, Georgia rapper Bubba Sparxxx and his New South Entertainment label inked a distribution with Koch Records it was announced today (February 11).
Sparxxx, who was previously signed to Timbaland’s Beat Club imprint, is in the recording studio working on new material.
He will release his untitled fourth album on his own imprint in the summer of 2008.
“Bubba Sparxxx is the rapper’s rapper,” said Alan Grunblatt, GM for Koch. “He continually surprises his fans with his diversity and comes out with hit after hit. We’re thrilled to be working with him.”
Koch is hoping Sparxxx can reproduce the success he experienced with super producer Timbaland, who produced the rapper’s first two albums along with Organized Noize.
His work with Timbaland produced hits like “Ugly,” taken from the rapper’s 2001 debut Dark Days, Bright Nights.
Sparxxx’s follow up album Deliverance produced the single “Deliverance,” but failed to match his debut release’s success.
It was his third album The Charm, which brought the rapper crossover success. Sparxxx’s collaboration with The Ying Yang Twins and Mr. Collipark on the single “Ms. New Booty” is his most successful to date.
The single was also one of the first ringtones to be officially certified by the RIAA for selling Gold (in excess of 500,000 copies) in June of 2006.
Sparxxx will also showcase the roster of New South Entertainment acts under terms of the deal, via a mixtape, also due in 2008.
