Chance The Rapper Makes Grammy History With ‘Coloring Book’ Project

THE CHICAGO-RAISED RHYMER IS UP FOR 7 NODS

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this year, Chance The Rapper started a campaign to convince the Recording Academy to change its rules to allow non-commercial projects to be eligible for the Grammy Awards.

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences did decide to alter its criteria, and now free bodies of work can earn nominations.

Chance made history this week when his critically acclaimed “mixtape” Coloring Book earned a Grammy nod for Best Rap Album.

Coloring Book became the first streaming-only project to receive a nomination.

The Chicago-raised entertainer is up for a total of seven Grammys in 2017.

Besides competing for Best Rap Album, Chance is also up for Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance (“No Problem”), Best Rap/Sung Performance (“Ultralight Beam”), and Best Rap Song (“No Problem”/”Famous”/”Ultralight Beam”).
