(AllHipHop News) Rap star Common will team with Patti Labelle to host a free concert hosted by Rosie Perez in Los Angeles, to bring attention to World Aids Day.
The rapper and the legendary singer are two of several artists who will host “Keep The Promise” concerts in Los Angeles, Cambodia and Mexico City with the AIDS Health Foundation (AHF).
Common and Patti will hit the stage in Los Angeles, where veteran actor/activist Harry Belafonte will be honored with AHF’s lifetime acheivement award for his charitable and advocacy work around the world.
“Our hope is that our upcoming World AIDS Day Keep the Promise concert and march serve as a potent reminder that the fight against HIV/AIDS is not yet won and that these events serve as a clarion call to action,” said AHF’s President Michael Weinstein.
“The irony is that we are the victims of our own success: As the AIDS situation improves, with better treatments and more people being able to access them, the urgency of winning the war against AIDS here in the U.S. and around the globe has diminished,” Weinstein said.
The Keep the Promise concert in Los Angeles with Common and Patti Labelle will take place November 30 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
