‘Creed’ Opens With Big Numbers At The Box Office On Thanksgiving Weekend

THE ‘ROCKY’ SPINOFF IS ALSO A CRITICAL SMASH

(AllHipHop News) Creed was a big hit with moviegoers. The seventh installment in the Rocky film franchise opened at #3 at the box office by raking in $42.6 million in its first five days. That total makes Creed the tenth-biggest Thanksgiving debut of all time. The Ryan Coogler directed movie only cost $35 million to make.

Besides recouping its production costs over the Wednesday to Sunday frame, Creed is also performing extremely well with the critics. It has a 92% rating (certified fresh) on Rotten Tomatoes and scored an 82 (universal acclaim) on Metacritic. There is even talk of Oscar buzz for the boxing flick.

Creed stars Michael B. Jordan as Apollo Creed’s son Adonis. The movie also features Sylvester Stallone,  Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashād, Tony Bellew, Wood Harris, Graham McTavish, and Andre Ward.
