(AllHipHop News) Even though some old head Hip-Hop followers are not fans of Desiigner’s brand of music, the New Yorker claims he is actually into rap from past eras.
Desiigner was one of the performers at Adidas Original’s one-night event at the iconic NYC Hip-Hop club known as The Tunnel.
The G.O.O.D. Music representative spoke about being inspired by previous generations of emcees.
Billboard reports:
The Brooklyn native and “Panda” hitmaker told Billboard exclusively that listening to old-school Hip-Hop helps bolster his creativity, adding “my creative process has no boundaries, and I think that represents the future of Hip-Hop.”
As a product of Bedford–Stuyvesant, Desiigner was raised in the same neighborhood that produced Hip-Hop legends Big Daddy Kane, The Notorious B.I.G., Jay Z, Lil Kim, and others.
However, the “Tiimmy Turner” rhymer has expressed he does not subscribe to having a Brooklyn sound.
“Nobody can put a barrier on music, period. Just cause you come from Brooklyn, you’re supposed to sound like you’re from Brooklyn?” he stated in a recent interview. “I don’t know what a Brooklyn sound is.”
Desiigner has also revealed that he was influenced by the Funk, Reggae, and Trap genres.
