Up-and-coming artists now have a greater chance of garnering coveted airplay in New York city, courtesy of DJ Envy and Hot 97.
The celebrated Hip-Hop station launched a new daily mixshow segment that allows Envy to showcase new music and artists outside of the traditional radio programming setup.
The 30-minute mixshow segment, titled the New at 2, debuted yesterday (November 10), extending Envys duties at the station from two to seven days a week.
The music played during the New at 2 mix is selected by Envy himself, with assistance from the Emmis Communications stations Program Director Ebro Darden and Music Director Jill Strada.
Hot 97 is allowing me to play new music added to the station and exclusive music, Envy told AllHipHop.com. [But] this aint the music industrys dumping ground! This will be the hottest new stuff from the clubs [and the streets. You must already be crackin out there to get on this show. Theres a lot of music that wont make it just because its new music.
DJ Envys New at 2 can be heard during Big Dennis Riveras weekday broadcast.
Envy also holds down hosting duties from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays and on The Peoples Choice Hit List on Sundays from 10am -12pm.
