Revolt spoke to Trump during the Time 100 Gala in New York City on Tuesday night. The Republican frontrunner was asked why should a young, black man cast a vote for him.
“Sadly, nothing has been done to help young African-American entrepreneurs, business people, and just people who want jobs,” stated Trump. “Donald Trump is bringing jobs back. Donald Trump is going to take care of the African-Americans and the black youth that frankly have been treated very, very badly.”
He continued, “I think you’re going to be very happy… I’m going to win the African-American vote.”
Trump also stated unemployment among young African-Americans is at 59%. The official unemployment rate for blacks ages 16 to 19 is actually closer to 25%. That is still much higher than the national unemployment rate which is about 5%.
