(AllHipHop News) Stro (fka Astro) is not the first New York based artist to complain about the lack of hometown radio support for his city’s local talent, but he made it a major point during his interview with Hot 97. The rapper/actor debated the topic with the station’s morning show host Ebro.

“In order to spread the brand, I need support of radio,” suggested Stro.

Ebro responded, “We can’t support you yet. You’re not hot enough.”

The discussion continued for another ten minutes with Stro stating other cities show love to their homegrown acts. Ebro told the 18-year-old rhymer he needed to go on tours and get hot on the internet before NYC radio will back his records. Things eventually got a little heated when Ebro addressed his guest directly.

“This is that bullsh*t rapper cop-out, because my n*gga, you’re not doing the work,” Ebro told Stro.

The Brooklyn performer kept his cool, but he still challenged Hot 97 to play his music more than the one time he’s at the station. Stro later took issue with NYC radio only playing songs that broke on the club scene first.

“Why must New York radio – not all radio – New York radio say, ‘We’re playing what’s hot in the club’? I’m not in the club,” added Stro. “The club opens at 10, closes at 2. So play club music from 10 to 2. But when we’re in our cars, we want to hear Hip Hop in New York.”
