Erykah Badu offered tongue-in-cheek advice for women ahead of Super Bowl LVIII. However, the Queen of Neo Soul upset some social media users with her message.
“Perfect day to cheat with a soft dude. Men gone be watchin football,” Erykah Badu wrote on Sunday (February 11) around 2 pm ET. That tweet amassed more than 6 million views and 24,000 likes on the X platform.
One person on X responded to Badu by posting, “You too old for this.” The @_ParadiseParis1 account also added in the replies, “A man not being into football don’t mean he soft. We gotta stop accepting flaw s###.”
Erykah Badu shot back at Paris by tweeting, “Your eyes are very close together. [woman shrugging emoji].” The 52-year-old songstress later posted, “And if u mad about that tweet… unfollow me… I don’t trust people with no sense of humor. Beat it.”
Last year, Badu embarked on the Unfollow Me Tour with Hip-Hop performer Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def). That 2023 trek crisscrossed the United States by traveling to cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Dallas.
Erykah Badu has not released a studio album since 2010’s New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh). The But You Caint Use My Phone mixtape arrived in 2015. She did contribute “Tempted” with James Poyser to 2020’s The Photograph soundtrack.
