(AllHipHop News) This weekend, the entire entertainment world has its attention on the new N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. Director F. Gary Gray has dedicated years into making the feature film about Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren, and DJ Yella. The highly anticipated movie could likely open the door to future motion picture adaptations of other prominent Hip Hop acts.

So if Gray could see another movie made about a rap representative, who would the veteran filmmaker want to view portrayed on the big screen? After admitting Straight Outta Compton is squarely at the front of his mind at the moment, Gray offered a famous New York based collective as an interesting subject for a film.
“I’m so into Straight Outta Compton it’s hard to answer, but I could tell you I don’t know the story of Wu-Tang. I know they did something really different,” Gray tells AllHipHop.com. “There’s a million stories out there, but again – maybe selfishly – I’m so immersed in the world of N.W.A., it’s hard for me to think outside that right now.”
Like N.W.A, the Wu-Tang Clan is considered a preeminent Hip Hop group. The two legendary crews also hold the distinction of spawning numerous successful solo careers.
N.W.A produced entertainment moguls Cube, Dre, and Eazy. The Wu’s family tree includes RZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, GZA, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, Cappadonna, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
Straight Outta Compton hits theaters today, August 14. Read AllHipHop’s full interview with F. Gary Gray here.
