Rest in peace, Anthony Mason.
The former New York Knick has died at the age of 48 after a prolonged, preexisting heart issue. Mason had received several surgeries on his heart to correct the issue. He died from congestive heart failure, according to his son Anthony, Jr.
The 6’ 7” giant played in the NBA for 13 years, but rose to prominence during a 5-year run with the Knicks.
In the 1994-95 season, Mason, a fan favorite, won the prestigious Sixth Man Award as a Knick. He also played for the Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat, according to ESPN.
