(AllHipHop News) New Jersey rapper Fetty Wap is now the target of a lawsuit claiming that the artist and his producer stole the beat for Fetty Wap’s smash hit “Trap Queen.”
TMZ reports that Danish songwriter Lazar Likic claims that he purchased exclusive rights to an instrumental entitled “Hello,” from producer Tony Fadd, which then went on to be sampled for the creation of the hit track.
Additionally, Lakic claims that Fadd contacted him in 2015 in an attempt to buy back the exclusive rights, but he declined.
Fetty Wap’s attorney Navarro Gray stated that the rapper legally purchased the beat from Fadd with a contract in place and if Likic is awarded damages Fadd will be pursued to cover the costs.
Likic is suing for profits from the track and also wants to halt all the sales and destroy all copies of “Trap Queen,” featuring samples from the “Hello,” instrumental.
“Trap Queen,” went 4x platinum in the U.S.
