The First Annual Urban Music Awards were held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan on Saturday (July 7).
The red carpet event drew many celebrities and fans, including an appearance from UMA hostess and rapper Foxy Brown, who had been reported in the press as “missing” a day after her appearance.
Brown looked elegant as she walked down the red carpet in a solid gold colored gown, with Spragga Benz in arm during the event, which drew celebrities like Danity Kane, actor Rick Gonzales, Mele Mel and others.
The Urban Music Awards was launched in the UK five years ago.
The highlight of the launch of the United States’ version of the awards was was a performance from Foxy Brown and Spragga Benz.
On July 8, just a day after her appearance at the awards, reports surfaced that Brown had previously “vanished” and previously hadn’t been seen for over a week.
“We’re all trying to find Foxy,” Brown’s lawyer, State Sen. Jack Sampson told the New York Post. “She’s probably getting some much needed rest. She’s been given authorization to travel and she could be working on her album [Black Roses]. She is trying to get her album done. Depending on whom she’s working with, she could be anywhere.”
Prior to her appearance at the Urban Music Awards on July 7, the last time Brown was seen, was when she boarded a New York flight bound for London at JFK Airport on June 29th.
Brown’s album Black Roses has no official release date.
She recently released a single titled We Don’t Surrender featuring fellow Black Hand artist Grafh.
