(AllHipHopNews) Atlanta trap star Future has just been certified platinum for the first time as a solo artist with his Dirty Sprite 2 project.
DS2, which was Future’s third studio album, was released July 17, 2015 and served as the follow up to his first Dirty Sprite project.
DS2 sold over 150,00 copies in its first week despite a lack of promo before the project’s release.
The album was also Future’s first album to reach the top spot on the Billboard 200 charts.
The album featured major hits such as “Trap Ni##as”, “F##k Up Some Commas”, and the Drake featuring smash, “Where Ya At.”
Future’s joint album with the Toronto MC What A Time To Be Alive was also certified platinum in March.
Future has been in the news lately, as his set at the Roots Picnic was plagued by sound issues. The rapper’s Hot 97’s Summer Jam performance was also scrapped due to a storm swirling in the area, in addition to a riot that occurred in the crowd.
Additionally, the MC is currently the target of a lawsuit from fellow Atlanta rapper Rocko for breach of contract involving his albums, including DS2.
