(AllHipHop News) This November will mark ten years since Sean Bell lost his life at the hands of NYPD officers.
In 2006, cops fired 50 bullets at the unarmed 23-year-old and his friends outside a Queens, New York club. Bell was killed just hours before he was set to marry his fiancee Nicole Paultre.
Three detectives were indicted for the shooting. Gescard Isnora and Michael Oliver were charged with manslaughter, assault, and reckless endangerment. Marc Cooper was charged with reckless endangerment.
All of the defendants were eventually acquitted of any crimes. Many observers – including the Bell family – felt the legal outcome was a miscarriage of justice.
Tru Vision Films is now in the process of telling Sean’s story in a new movie. The filmmakers are asking for donations from the public to help see the project come to fruition.
The current fundraising goal is set at $2 million. To donate money to Tru Visions’ Sean Bell movie visit gofundme.com.
