(AllHipHop News) Pop starlet Miley Cyrus and Rap representative Nicki Minaj may be in the midst of their own feud, but both ladies were in the symbolic cross-hairs of model/singer/actress Grace Jones. The 67-year-old fashion icon addressed Miley and Nicki by name in her new autobiography I’ll Never Write My Memoirs.

Time Out London got access to portions of Jones’ upcoming book, and in it she has some things to say about a few modern female performers. She names Beyoncé, Madonna, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Rita Ora, and Sia as singers that have taken from her style.
“I have been so copied by those people who have made fortunes that people assume I am that rich,” writes Jones. “But I did things for the excitement, the dare, the fact that it was new, not for the money, and too many times I was the first, not the beneficiary.”
The star of films such as Conan the Destroyer and Boomerang had an even more serious critique of Cyrus and Minaj as well as an unknown woman she refers to as “Doris.” In Jones’ view, contemporary entertainers are not structured for success over time.
“The problem with the Dorises and the Nicki Minajes and Mileys is that they reach their goal very quickly. There is no long-term vision, and they forget that once you get into that whirlpool then you have to fight the system that solidifies around you in order to keep being the outsider you claim you represent,” Jones states. “There will always be a replacement coming along very soon – a newer version, a crazier version, a louder version. So if you haven’t got a long-term plan, then you are merely a passing phase, the latest trend, yesterday’s event.”
Grace Jones’ I’ll Never Write My Memoirs is scheduled for release on September 24.
