A lawyer for Gucci Mane have shot down a rumor spreading that the Atlanta rapper was heading back to jail.
“Gucci Mane is not incarcerated. His attorneys are addressing all pending issues through the courts,” his attorney Dwight Thomas said in a statement.
Rumors circulated on the Internet over the weekend that Gucci Mane, born Radric Davis, was heading back to jail.
The scuttlebutt was given credence when Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy sent out a message on his Twitter page lamenting Gucci’s incarceration.
“Just woke up to some bulls**t. My n***a Gucci back in jail.. Free Gucci,” Soulja Boy wrote, although his source of information was never cited.
Gucci Mane has been in and out of prison over the past five years, on charges ranging from drug possession and assault, to murder, a charge that was eventually dropped.
The rapper returned home from prison in March of 2009, following a six-month stint in the Atlanta County jail for probation violation.
Gucci Mane is featured on the remixed version of Mariah Carey’s latest single “Obsessed.”
Gucci also shot a video for the remixed version with Mariah Carey, which is slated to premiere sometime this month.
