(AllHipHop News) Philadelphia Hip-Hop band The Roots just hosted their 9th annual “Roots Picnic,” which featured performances by Future, Usher, Migos, Swizz Beatz and DMX.
Now, the revered band is taking the Roots Picnic on the road with the announcement of two dates in New York City, that showcases a massive all-star lineup.
The Roots will bring the Roots Picnic to New York for the first time on October 1 and 2 in Bryant Park.
“This is the culmination of a 2 1/2 year journey that we have embarked upon with our partners at Live Nation to bring The Roots Picnic to NYC,” said Shawn Gee, partner in Maverick Management and co-founder of The Roots Picnic.
“We launched the brand in Philadelphia 9 years ago and plan to continue to build and grow the Philly event in the future,” Shawn Gee said. “The NYC version of the Picnic is unique in that our partnership with Bryant Park will extend beyond the 2 days of the festival with other events. This is truly an artist curated event, as the band picks every artist that appears in the lineup and our headline sets are always unique collaborations that one can only experience at The Roots Picnic.”
Day 1 will be headlined by The Roots, D’Angelo and John Mayer, with additional performances by Kevin Gates, Stretch & Bobbito and Philadelphia’s own, Chill Moody.
Day 2 will see The Roots backing The Wu-Tang Clan, Talking Heads’ frontman David Byrne, and legendary musician Nile Rodgers.
The second day will also feature Swizz Beatz, Styles P., Royce Da 5’9, J. Period., Freddie Gibbs and others.
Tickets for the Roots Picnic at Bryant Park in New York go on sale this Friday (June 10). Check out the flyer:
