Hip-Hop and media activists Rosa Clemente, Davey D and Malkia Cyril will be among those on hand for this year’s National Conference for Media Reform (NCMR).

 

The event, which will kick off tomorrow (June 6) and runs through Sunday (June 8) takes place at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

 

The conference will feature discussions and workshops that examine the impact of Big Media on music and news.

 

In addition to Clemente, Davey D and Cyril, the conference will include AllHipHop.com founder Grouchy Greg Watkins, ColorofChange.org’s Andre Banks, Lyricist Lounge founder Anthony Marshall, film maker Byron Hurt, Hip-Hop historian Jared Ball, Paul Porter from Industry Ears, and Glen Ford and Bruce Dixon from the Black Agenda Report.

 

Media luminaries Amy Goodman, Arianna Huffiington and Bill Moyers are also confirmed to appear.

 

Hip-Hop Caucus president and CEO Rev. Lennox Yearwood will discuss media and the war at the NCMR, while Hip-Hop Congress members Julie Chang-Shulman, Shamako Noble and Willie “J.R.” Flemming will lead a workshop profiling case studies of Hip-Hop organizing on media justice issues.
