The producer of the song, Hit-Boy, spoke with Revolt about his contribution to the A-List collaboration. The California native reveals the track was originally for Bey, but an exchange likely took place in order for it to appear on Nicki’s third studio LP.
“For this ‘Feeling Myself’ joint, shout out to the homegirl SZA from TDE, she wrote for a part on the beat that they used,” said Hit-Boy. “Bey ended up cutting it, and I guess they needed a swap for ‘Flawless.’ It ended up being another plug, a Hit-Boy HS87 beat. It just worked out.”
