(AllHipHop News) Rap mogul Jay Z will put on his activist hat later on today (March 8), during a live town hall meeting slated to air this evening (March 8).
Spike TV will air the exclusive “Time and Punishment” town hall featuring Jay, and members of the late Kalief Browder’s family.
The town hall is taking place just before the second episode of “Time: The Kalief Browder” docuseries, which tells the harrowing story of Browder.
Even though Browder was never convicted of the crime, he languished in prison next to violent predators as a teenager, because he couldn’t meet the $3,000 dollar bail condition for his release.
Kalief Browder ultimately committed suicide in June of 2015, after suffering from depression and other mental problems directly arising from his incarceration.
During tonight’s town hall, Jay will be joined by Browder’s siblings, and a panel of authorities will discuss his tragic story, in addition to the systemic flaws within the American justice system.
Spike TV is currently airing Jay-Z’s docuseries “Time: The Kalief Browder Story” which is the first release under Jay’s television deal with the Weinstein Co.
“Time and Punishment” will air live at 9 p.m. and will air on VH1 and BET.
