Joyner Lucas finally tuned in to Skepta’s “Round 2” diss track Tuesday night (July 22) when he livestreamed his reaction for his Instagram followers.
The Massachusetts rapper appeared more amused than offended as he listened along, shaking his head and pausing to laugh at one particular bar. “Did he just rhyme ‘Joyner Lucas’ with ‘loads of mucus?’” he asked, chuckling in disbelief.
While he dismissed most of the track, Lucas did acknowledge one line that hit the mark. When Skepta rapped, “You only make hits rapping from another guy’s perspective,” Lucas gave a subtle nod of approval.
Still, the overall verdict was clear.
Lucas ended the video with a long exhale and a flat “Okay…” before posting the clip with the caption, “You just won’t give up huh skippy?. It’s up now my boy. @skepta.”
He followed up with a post on his Instagram Stories, insisting Skepta won’t be able to recover from his next move.

Joyner Lucas & Skepta Trade Bars
The latest jab is part of a growing lyrical standoff between the two rappers that kicked off when Skepta dropped “Friendly Fire,” calling Lucas a “joke” in the U.S. Lucas fired back with “Nobody Cares” on July 15, mocking Skepta’s chart struggles in the U.K. and his association with Drake.
In “Nobody Cares,” Lucas warned, “After I body you, I don’t want you еver saying my name anymore,” positioning himself as the clear aggressor in the transatlantic beef.
Skepta returned with “Round 2” on July 18, doubling down on his criticism. He claimed Lucas had previously lost a battle to Tory Lanez and flexed his triple platinum credentials in the States.
The rivalry has gained momentum online, especially after Drake’s Wireless Festival comments praising London MCs as the “best lyricists in the world,” which many saw as a subtle endorsement of Skepta and the broader U.K. rap scene.
The back-and-forth continues to stir debate across both sides of the Atlantic as Hip-Hop heads weigh in on the escalating clash.
