Police in Wichita,

Kansas have asked local club owners to stop playing Lil Jon and The Eastside Boyz

song "Put Yo Hood Up," claiming the song was responsible for a nightclub

shooting.

Last week, five

people were shot outside of the El Tequila Club. Authorities claim that the

fight started with the playing of the song.

Lt. John Speer

said that the song encourages listeners to throw up gang signs, which in some

cases, leads to confrontations.

Speer said at one

point in the song, Lil Jon urges confrontation.

"I need

all my real n*ggas and b*tches To look around the muthafuckin’ club.. If you

see a n*gga and he throwin’ up a set and it aint your set Or it aint your click..

I want yall n*ggas to tell them n*ggas like dis.. I want you to get up in that

muthaf*cka’ face and do this sh*t… Say n*gga f*ck you..Cuz’ you don’t wanna

f*ck with me"

Speer said the

shooting victims in both incidents survived, but said that "Put Yo Hood

Up" was responsible for a homicide in Arkansas.

In that incident,

gang signs were flashed and a 17-year-old shot and killed a 16-year-old.

Police have asked

club owners to not play the song, but are not demanding it. They asked local

club owners to be careful and pay close attention to who is patronizing their

establishments.
