(AllHipHop News) Atlanta rappers Killer Mike and T.I. are part of a movement to have rappers deposit their finances into local, black-owned banks.
Several Houston area performers such as Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Willie D, Trae The Truth, and others opened accounts at Texas’ Unity National Bank.
Tip acknowledged the moment on Instagram, and Mike added a picture to his IG account as well.
The “Never Scared” collaborators then posted pictures with Young Thug, Young Dolph, and more starting accounts at the black-owned Citizens Trust Bank in Atlanta.
The 95-year-old bank reportedly added over 8,000 new accounts since Killer Mike called on citizens at the What Now?: An MTV News and BET News Town Hall to move their money to a small bank or credit union in order to “take our warfare to financial institutions.”
