Netflix provided football fans a behind-the-scenes look into the world of quarterbacks. NBA fans could see their version of the Quarterback docuseries with an upcoming show from LeBron James, Peyton Manning, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.
According to reports, 4-time NBA champion LeBron James and 2-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning are in talks with the former President of the United States and former First Lady for the unscripted program.
Manning’s Omaha Productions produced Quarterback for Netflix along with NFL Films and 2PM Productions. Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs), Kirk Cousins (Minnesota Vikings), and Marcus Mariota (Atlanta Falcons) appeared in the 8-episode series.
In addition to Quarterback, Netflix has also streamed the sports-focused Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Break Point, Full Swing and Wrestlers. LeBron James’ SpringHill Company and the Obamas’ Higher Ground Productions have also been attached to the presently unnamed NBA docuseries.
The list of Higher Ground Productions-backed content includes American Factory, Becoming, We the People and The Michelle Obama Podcast. The American Factory film won Best Documentary Feature at the 92nd Academy Awards in 2020.
SpringHill Company previously presented series such as Starz’s Survivor’s Remorse and Netflix’s The Playbook. Lebron James also heads back to the basketball court when the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2023-2024 NBA season kicks off tonight (October 24).
