Lil Wayne Announces Tha Carter VI Tour With No New Orleans Date

Lil Wayne announced Tha Carter VI tour with 34 dates but left his hometown of New Orleans off the map, and people noticed.

Lil Wayne is gearing up to drop his 14th studio album, Tha Carter VI, with a blowout tour that kicks off Friday (June 6) at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the same day the album hits streaming platforms.

The Tha Carter VI tour will stretch across North America with 34 to 35 stops, hitting major cities including Los Angeles, Toronto, Atlanta, Minneapolis and Dallas.

The full run begins Wednesday (July 30) in Bristow, Virginia, and wraps Thursday (October 2) in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The MSG opener promises a stacked guest list, with Miley Cyrus, Bono, Machine Gun Kelly, Elephant Man, Euro and Wyclef Jean all set to join Lil Wayne on stage.

Tyga and Belly Gang Kushington are locked in as supporting acts for the entire tour, while NoCap will join select dates.

Tickets went on pre-sale Tuesday (June 4), with general admission sales opening Friday (June 6) at 10 a.m. local time.

The tour and project mark Lil Wayne’s first solo album release since Funeral in 2020 and his first Tha Carter installment since Tha Carter V in 2018. He teased Tha Carter VI in a Cetaphil Super Bowl ad and confirmed the release date in April.

Produced by Live Nation, the tour celebrates more than two decades of the Tha Carter series, which began in 2004 and helped define Wayne’s legacy in Hip-Hop.

But not everyone is celebrating. Some fans in Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans were quick to point out the absence of a Louisiana stop on the tour.

“To not have New Orleans on here is crazy bro,” one person wrote.

Another added, “I could be tripping(overlooking) but where the heck Louisiana.”
