(AllHipHop News) M.I.A. was scheduled to be the headliner of the first annual Afropunk Festival in London.

That was before concert goers demanded the “Paper Planes” singer be pulled from the bill over some of her statements about the Black Lives Matter movement.

Festival organizers have now announced that M.I.A. will not be part of the event.

The controversy stems from the English rapper saying, “It’s that in America the problem you’re allowed to talk about is Black Lives Matter.”

She also questioned if other entertainers such as Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar would address “Muslim Lives Matter? Or Syrian Lives Matter? Or this kid in Pakistan matters?”

Last month, M.I.A. suggested she might pull herself from Afropunk. The final word of her removal came down from the festival’s organizers.
